It appears the training is for shooting bad guys in an urban environment with civvies walking around. A proverbial "don't shoot the good guy" carnival game. Pass/fail scoring?

Well, if you buy strictly on low price, what do you expect or demand terms of service? You certainly won't be a repeat customer if my competition can beat my price by $10 (or more if an Internet retailer) Great customer service is performed by above average people who care and it's tough to recruit and retain them when your wages have to match your pricing structure. Painting with a broad brush the low price leader doesn't offer wage scales that get the best folks and it is evident at...insert company name here... Unfortunately in many LGSs I've been in I would have gotten better service if the place was self serve! I've also bought from a few with competitive prices, willing to negotiate and good selection. If I pay a few dollars more I expect an increase in both service and quality. For you salespeople out there, be aware approximately 40% of your customers by on price; the good news is everyone else sees value in quality and service.

Does Schermerhorn Symphony Center Ban?

My point was your innocuous inquiry could/would get blown up depending on took or relayed your call to other Co workers. Like your avatar, I'm a Ruger fan too -
I'm all jacked up on Mountain Dew!

Supreme Court Decision Yesterday!
A.J. Holst replied to Sidewinder's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
the only real power guv'mint is given is the prosecution of law breakers. when not enough folks are breaking the law, thus reducing the power of guv'mint, they simply pass more laws to make it nigh impossible for anyone to figure out if they are law abiding or law breakers... -
Congratulations and welcome to the family

I need to shorten the stock by at least one inch to better fit my statue. I got tools and moderate tinker skills. Any best practices out there before I start cutting?

Just about every gun store / dept. has these rubber targets; critters on sticks, plates, cubes, etc. Advertised for higher caliber firearms, and thousands of rounds. prices start at about $25 and go up the fancier you get. anybody got one? Shot one? Worth having one or two?

About threw up while coming back from St. Louis into Illinois.

Not exactly sure how it works but I think road name changed are on a city / local level. At the city council it's proposed to change oak av to president way. If you got up to give facts and figures on why immortalizing this president's name would be a bad example, why they'd go Sharia on your a$$. Local officials fawning on the the rich and scandalous like lickspittlers to get some nod of recognition from their betters... -
Obama on shootng back gun myths!!!
A.J. Holst replied to bersaguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well written article. It brings up the elephant in the room...All guv'mint laws to regulate the 2A to keep us safe from gun violence has not worked. Since guv'mint has proved passing laws doesn't work to keep us safe, the next (and only) logical step for guv'mint to take to keep us safe is no guns for nobody. They will use these "facts" to give credence to their arguments and debates. Think the masses will buy in? This will be the next spin on the attack on the 2A. and you though ARs were scary. -
are school shootings directly damning the ar-15?
A.J. Holst replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Jonin, even scarier when you add all those "to-better-kill-you-with" high tech military sighting systems, flaslights, lasers, bipods and bayonets. Scary, no. Scary cool, yes -

What he is not saying is it the aristocracy of pull by the privileged and powerful who feel in their enlightened world that they know best and what is best for the feudal masses. -
Got my entry in. Thanks for letting us know about the chance for a free gun!
-
Not sure what it would cost since I haven't started my own research yet but here's what I would buy: 9mm since all of our semiautots are 9mm Full size since it's highly unlikely I'll carry it. Some kind of night sights Ambi safety since I'm a southpaw No preference on finish Any other "upgrades" would be a bonus Just a solid range / home defense / night table gun

Does Schermerhorn Symphony Center Ban?
A.J. Holst replied to MidfieldMarauder's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As soon as the person you spoke to mentions your call to a co-worker and THAT person translates it to, "some guy called and asked if he could carry his gun in here..."and REPORTS it to their boss...let the no gun postings begin. And that is how a law abiding citizen tries to do the right thing by acquiring information, has their inquiry twisted against them as a gun toting nutjob (these paranoid freak shows think they need to carry a gun to the Symphony or opera or target or...) you end up screwing yourself to obey the law. -

If are planning on attending, don't hesitate to bring a back up or two to go with your primary - it is a great venue to try out different platforms and rigs! I routinely bring a wheelie and get heckled by Randy, "we're going to party like it's 1899." -
Interesting read from Chattanooga, TN
A.J. Holst replied to leroy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Hey, Quit clouding the issue with facts and charts. Gun control and the 2A is all about feeeeelings. You could probably produce another one of those fancy charts showing mass shootings are not perpetrated by citizens who legally own and carry firearms too. -
Having a pair of SPs, I have been "eyes open" for a steal on a .357/.38 lever gun...in the interim I do have a 9mm carbine which should be effective on critters out to 75 - 100 yards in the right hands with the right ammo. How about .30cal carbine? Ruger made a wheelie with a 7" barrel and if you paired it with an M1 Carbine - you're golden (as long as you have a zillion rounds of .30 and reload) Since I am not a hunter or do long distance shooting, I like PCCs (pistol caliber carbines) to compliment my handguns.

I've got charter and I'm still pissed I have to pay $6.95 each / month for the stupid boxes to watch tv. Why can't I plug the cable right into my tv like the good old days and have one remote? Being a hot spot for free after I pay the cable company full retail for service? Eat my shorts! -
‘Open Carry’ Gun Fight Moves to Target Stores
A.J. Holst replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree that these jack offs are hurting the rest of us, but they don't care. They are simply exhibiting base human nature of selfishness under the guise of "it's my right" -
I haven't paid too much attention to the .22 shortage since I tradedl my .22 right before the scare and have never replaced it. I'm back on the hunt for both a pistol and rifle...

‘Open Carry’ Gun Fight Moves to Target Stores
A.J. Holst replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Regardless of whether or not their actions adversely effect main stream gun carriers specifically and gun owners in general, it is their 2A Right and they also have the right to express it publicly. Apparently they don't care that their actions give ammo to the libs and reinforce the stereo type of "those crazy paranoid gun owners" fed to the masses. My knowledge of the old west comes from Hollywood, but even in those wild and wooly days I don't think the populace walked around with long guns especially when going to the general store. "Lock and load dude, we're out of cheese puffs and mom said we could borrow her car so we can go to Target."
