Shopper tackles man with gun at Wal-Mart
A.J. Holst replied to Ugly's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Except Superman has a liitle more respect for his elders; this 43 year old vigilante tackled a 62 year old from behind and then applied a choke hold. -
Was in my Chapman Highway WM buying targets and see a small can of 9mm. Figure it'll shoot just fine through my Cold War masterpiece called the CZ 75B 100 rounds, $23.97 A little dirty, but not one malfunction of any kind. The plastic can is even re-usable...see we gun nutz is environmentally conscious folk.

Went last weekend, 20 - 25 minute ride from the house, so pretty convenient. Straight-forward new shooter sign up docs and rules. Once on the range, the SO came up and introduced himself and gave us a brief synopsis of the range procedures. After we set up in our lanes, the SO re-visited and asked to see how we gripped our handguns. Odd, but OK, not an unreasonable rule or request... He then explained "why" They had a new shooter who gripped their semi-automatic pistol waaaay too high and chewed up their hand pretty well. They just want to be pro-active, especially since they rent handguns and have some level of liability. Good, common-sense safety check. The SO was personable and left me the feeling, "just follow the safety rules and unless you have a malfunction, you'll never know I'm here." The range is well lit and setting the target range is automatic once you input the yardage (3 - 25) on a keypad. Since the targets ride on a steel track, once they get to distance, they don't bounce up and down as compared to the steel cable system. Cost is $20/hour and they furnish one B-27 target. On the sales floor, they have a wide variety of targets at standard big box prices. Extensive assortment of guns for rent --- EVEN A CZ-97B, saw it with mine own eyes - I know someone here has been hunting one - if they got one for rent, they may be able to get one to buy. I think the rental fee is $15. I didn't price ammo. The handguns/long guns I spot checked seemed fairly price competitive for a brick and mortar. So would GottheGoods go back...Yes, a little pricier per hour, but the lighting, ventilation, non-bounce target system, reasonably convenient location, can probably get ammo cheaper at the Knife Works, they do have used guns (never know what kind of peach you might find), excellent customer service received from staff I have interacted with.

The religion of peace at work in Libya.....
A.J. Holst replied to Grand Torino's topic in General Chat
Security agencies around the world agree, it's a small percentage who are radicals, 5%-10% of the whole...only 50-100 million who wish to end all non orthodox Muslim lifestyles. -
Another epic fail by the Obama administration,

I was being a little facetious, my unsolicited opinion is the amount of time and resources lost by all parties is a tragic waste and trying to legislate how a law abiding citizen uses a product is ludicrous. CZ has a great video where the reviewer gives high marks for use of the brace in various positions.

If you're planning a field trip to way west knoxville, give gander mountain a try.

What about an illegal sig brace as opposed to SBR'ing it.

Lian Neeson converting to Islam? Now I understand...
A.J. Holst replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
For me it's not really the hypocrisy, but rather the arrogance and elitism and entitlement attitude of "I'm rich and famous, therefore my opinions are valid and I can use the media soapbox to spew my nonsensical point of view. " -
I hope you and your Dad ask God, "what are you trying to teach us / reveal to us," as opposed to, "why are you doing this to us." I pray He showers you and your family with Hispeace, grace, mercy and understanding; that He touches your hearts and minds so you may better know him, the spirit and his Son

Crime Ring or new heroin users? Watched Drugs, Inc. the other night and the pillheads are switching to smack - apparently easier to get these days. They are stealing / doing fraud returns to score $100-$200 for 1-2 grams. Scary stuff.
-
Why is it once you obtain fame and fortune you feel your opinions have any value to the general public? Is it the elitist lifestyle you live that makes you soooo much of an expert on anything? You don't really produce anything but 1 to 2 hours of entertainment. Your career is promoting a fantasy world and somehow your view of the real world is relative? Get a real job and shut the eff up

For a 10k budget, XCab + 4WD with reasonable miles / condition will be an exercise in patience. Since cash for clunkers, a lot of those mid 90s through mid 2000 full size, low gas mileage trucks / SUVs went to the crusher. What about an older truck and spend what was saved for cool paint job, wheels/ tires, new interior, engine and tranny upgrade...

Saw a cool show on Netflix/NatGeo regarding the science of dogs. They form very unique chemical bonds with their humans and vice versa. One study revealed when you are loving on your dog, both you and your dog are releasing oxytocin which is known as the binding hormone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxytocin The bond can be very defined as with Caster's dog or as broad as with a "TV perfect" dog. A hard truth is they are still animals which can and will behave erratically based on situational influences. Please don't smile at a strange / unknown dogs! Bearing your teeth in a human smile is threatening to most critters.

Wear gloves. Acetone is directly absorbed into your skin. Small doses and infrequent contact are probably not a health hazard, but an ounce of prevention...

I'm not an expert beyond owning a carbine and doing as much research on the brand as possible prior to and after purchase. I've have had ZERO issues with my carbine; I do more a little more preventive maintenance and cleaning than recommended, but not much 10 round mag capacity...I've got a bunch of extra mags to overcome this perceived weakness, I bought them from HP here are the 9mm handgun mags: http://www.hi-pointfirearms.net/products.php?cat=13 Common failures occur with the magazines and reports on the 15 round Pro-mag lean more to negative than positive. Mag lips occasionally need to be tweaked; I don't have the specs handy, but I think OS might. Another reported "best practice" is to load 8 rounds into a 10 round mag and let it sit for two+ weeks as a step in the break in process. I think you made a good choice!

My b-i-l has a placard. If you saw him, slightly overweight but seemingly able bodied. Wave your portable scanner and discover a genetic heart disease. I am sure he is classified as "one of those people" It's the selfish entitlement mentality, the handicapped can wait or walk- I'll only be a few minutes, there are plenty of spots, it's raining cold or too far to walk. G - call the cops. They love revenue and harassing folks. For me, so what if I have to park extra spaces away...I am able bodied and won't melt in the rain.

Was it known he was a deserter during the negotiations?
