  1. Are you really wanting to be talked out of it? If so and your not going to shoot it suppressed I don't see the point. I would choose the 6.5 Grendel over the Blackout if I was not going to suppress it. Now, that being said, I sold all of my Grendel stuff and now shoot the blackout. But I do it silently...
  2. Savings is obviously tied to how much you shoot. I have also jumped feet first into the Blackout round after ordering a .30 Cal suppressor I'm still waiting on. I don't reload yet, as I don't shoot enough to justify the start up cost, that being said, I'm getting close though... Here is a webite that I will order some rounds from for hunting with it this fall. They also post the ballistics of their rounds for those who have always been curious about the stats on both the super and subsonic rounds on the blackout. http://www.right2bearammo.com/shop/catalog/index.php/cPath/54/osCsid/9698077fe97de681fbf019772823c448
  3. Overpriced for sure. I'm sure Will would say his AR is a "Game Changer", like everything else they build, but like past comments from others, you can build a better rifle for cheaper without the wait. If you really like Red Jacket and that's what you want, then get it. I personally don't buy the hype.
  4. Made a call and Leupold is not putting those reticles in existing scopes and will only be available for their new line. That sucks.
  5. I have a 2x7 leupold I may put on it. I will be hunting and plinking with it. I plan on it being 100 and in subsonic, though may try to stretch it to 150. Supersonic would be for 200 and in, but would like to plink out to 300 to see if could work. Alleycat, whats the details on the reticle? Did you pick it or design it? What did that run? You can pm me the details if you prefer. NM, read the article to the link you attached. Going to contact leupold tomorrow. Thanks. I will still like to know what current users of the blackout are doing.
  6. So as I patiently wait for my suppressor to come in, I have been upgrading and modding my blackout rifle. Where I haven't made any concrete decisions is my optic. Because the suppressor my budget is limited, but I would like to shoot both sub and supersonic ammo through it. That versaitly along with several other reasons is what drew me to this round. So the question is, what set ups are you guys running to capitalize on both rounds out of your blackout rifles? Irons and scope? Mil-dots reticles? Adjustable turrets with "marked" adjustments? Just curious to see what is working for others.
  7. Yeah man, I do. Just shoot me a PM and we can work out the details. You can have it too.
  8. I own a G17 and recently aquired a Springfield TRP. IMHO, two of the best fighting pistols on the planet. If I had to choose one for a self defense shootout, I'm taking the TRP. But that is not the question of the OP, so for survival, I would take the G17. I have Sub2K that takes the G17 mags so it makes it a heck of a survival combo.
  9. I posted this link in the politics section, but figured I would share it here as well as it goes along with the topic at hand. I apologize if it has already been posted else where. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46316454/ns/today-today_rossen_reports/
  10. I apolgozie if this has already been posted. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46316454/ns/today-today_rossen_reports/
  11. Have the gun shops been recommending another option they just happen to have in stock?... I have one but only 200 rounds down range. It's been great and I have plenty of confidence in it. I have a G17 as well and they both serve as my night stand/home defense package. It's fun to shoot and pretty accurate. IMHO, finding one will be the most trouble you have with this one. I got my off of gunbroker after waiting patiently for one to pop up. The other nice thing is Kel-Tec as a lifetime warranty if it did "fall apart after 500 rounds." I have seen their service first hand in a PMR-30 and they are top notch. Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. Rebels010
  12. Thanks man. I've done this already with a .22 suppressor, but I didn't follow up or check like I should because I just planned on waiting 6 months. There ended up being an issue, and if I would have been following up I would have recieved it sooner. Just want to make sure that doesn't happen this time. Should be here in plenty of time to enjoy the warm shooting weather and get ready for hunting season next year.
  13. Do you have the appropriate number for me to call?
  14. I checked my bank account and my check showed up as cashed for today. Mailed it last Monday and it is already hitting my bank account one week later. Seems quick to me. So for those more educated on this process, what and when do I need to start checking in on this to complete this timeline? What are the other steps in the process?
  15. Well, the check is in the mail. I will provide another post on when my check clears. Now, to get my G26 sold and finish up the 300 Blackout build in the mean time. Idle hands are the devil's workshop, so I will need to keep myself busy over the next 6 months.
  16. 556or762, I also have a mite for my savage mkII (and 10/22 and P22) but haven't got to shoot it much because testing it at the range is pointless. I will get to test it and hunt with it quite a bit over Christmas though. For your savage is the CCI's been the best choice? I only have the winchester sub's to try so far.
  17. My buddy has the stainless steel version, which I was very impressed with just wanted the lighter weight in the titanium. I will give a full report after I get it in and get some rounds down range. Orientalexpress, just give me a shout in the summer and we can set something up.
  18. While I can't take much credit for my first build as my friend did most of the heavy lifting and funded the project I would advise you to take the same route I did if you are or with someones help, is gong to build it from scratch. I would make sure I got a really good upper, lower and barrel. Everything else you can skimp on and then upgrade each month or so as you go. As time went on I added a new grip, match trigger, free float rail, adjustable stock and bi-pod. I would also encourage you to check out AR15.com too. The ammount of used parts for sale on there is crazy and a great way to save on your build. Just have to have some patience. If you were like me, AR's can be intimidating at first, but the more you use and learn one, you find out why they are so loved and actually easy to work with. They call it the evil black rifle for several reasons, it's addicting and can spend your money quick!
  19. I got the paperwork done, just waiting for the police chief to send it back. Not sure if I can wait for 6 months! Working on a 300 blackout upper build and will save up for a 700SPS AAC-SD as well. Will also shoot this on my Grendel too just for noise reduction. Love the QD mounts and how easy it is to make quick changes with it. Only sad part is having to part with other guns to fund the suppressor. Oh well. Will update the thread so that I/we can track the overall time and process from start to finish.
  20. I use Winchester Subs and they have been good. Cycle fine in my 10/22. They won't cycle in my p22, but I don't need subsonic for the p22.
  21. Hornady also makes some low recoil ammo which makes the .243 even more attractive, and maybe even a .308 depending on how significant they tame the recoil.
  22. That's a great point, but at the rate he grows, I still think the .243 will be fine. Maybe need to look into a heavier gun (not synthetic) and a good recoil pad. I was 5'3" and 85LBS as a 13yr old (info taken for the 8th grade football program so that's how I remember). I was EVEN smaller as an 11 yr old and never had any issues with a .243. It has more kick, but I still think he should be fine.
  23. I would have to second the .243. I was 11 when I killed my first deer with one and went on to kill about 25 more with it. While the .223 is fine for deer, I wouldn't use anything less than the .243. It's a proven deer round. She can get a nice bolt action, scope, case and sling with $800.
  24. Rusty, have you been contacted yet for payment? I believe another wave went out today so I was just curious. You have to send pics and a range report when you get it.
