I'm not a "Rambo" gung-ho clear my house guy. If I get home and suspect something, I call police and let them do their job. Tuesday night my son had achievement night at school. We took separate vehicles in case I had to take our 2 yr old daughter home earlier. There was a dinner afterwards and she's usually in bed by 7PM. We all stayed the duration. My 9 yr old son rode home with me and the daughter went with Mamma so she could watch videos in the car. I stopped and got gas. Since we left at the same time and I got gas, I figured the wife would beat me home. First thing I noticed in the garage was my wife's car wasn't there. No big deal she made a stop too I thought. We have a basement level garage and my son took off ahead of me. I clicked the remote to disarm the alarm and he goes in. Halfway up the stairs my cell rings and my wife is frantic, "Don't go in the house. I called the police!" She was down the street in a neighbor's drive trying to flag me down before I got home. She had also tried calling but cell reception in my neighborhood is horrid. Even worse in our basement, I'm surprised she got thru when she did. My heart went into my stomach, my son was in the house. I dropped briefcase, phone, etc. I carry a P238 in my pocket all day but have a 1911 in the truck and carry it in each night. It was already in my hand so I drew it out of the holster and took it off safety and went in. What felt like an eternity, but probably less than 20 seconds, my son calls out, "Dad! Something's freaky with these lights!" Before my wife pulled into the driveway, she noticed a light come on in the house and go back off. I'm so proud of her awareness. She turned tail and called the police and tried to get me. My phone didn't ring and I didn't see her flagging me. I pulled into the drive at just the right time when no freaky light thing was going on so I was unaware. Come to find out, we had a 3-way switch that had gone bad and was periodically turning a light on, then off. Everything turned out fine, but when I figured out my son was safe, I had to calm my breathing down.

Mine has shot everything I put in it. Hornady CD is my carry load and reloads at that. Although I've no interest in the ext mag. My money is the mag is the problem. Only question I have is it this specific mag or will all 7 rnders have a problem with Hornady CD. Brad

I think if you renewed under the old system and now expire, there's a slight glitch. Was for me and I renewed early Feb I believe. Once you renew under this new system all should be good to go. It'll even give you your particulars in your profile. Brad

Sushi Max. About 150 yds West of the town square in Lebanon. Check their website or call before driving from Hendersonville. They have strange hours. Closed for a period of time between lunch and dinner, even on Saturdays. But their sushi is GREAT! Brad

That thing is to keep small diameter bottle necked brass centered when in use. Brad

NVM, did a quick google and this seems like the perfect place for me. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I didn't even know they existed. Almost the exact same distance from me as Stones River and they stay open 'til 9PM thru the week! I might even get a week night or two in! Indoors and shoot my AR. This is so full of win I could cry. Thanks again! Brad

Where is Sumner Guns? I live 'bout half between Hwy109/Hwy 70 intersection and where Hwy 109 and I40 intersect so the mileage difference between Lebanon Gun Room, Stones River and Gallatin Gun Club is nill. However I don't know where in Sumner this other club is at. Do they allow handguns too? Thanks Brad

Recently Gallatin Gun Club opened up 200 slots. I was #221, so a no go. I was told that about 30 might quit, turn down, etc and by mid March I'd probably get in. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen. I've been into guns for quite a while but didn't get real serious about quantity shooting until Jan '11. Local indoor range was $10. I was going to do the year membership but thought $325 was a tad steep. Well they went up to $15 and I probably went enough to justify the $325. So now I have a dilemma, join it or go to Stones River for $5.50 a pop. Since I bought an AR-15 a few weeks ago, I've really gotten into shooting it and I can't shoot it indoors. I enjoy the AC/heat of indoor range as well as electric pulley system for targets. But I thought it might be counter intuitive to pay $325 and still have to pay to go to Stones River to shoot my AR. I was put off by the fact that I would only be able to go to Stones River Saturday and after Church on Sunday. Then I got to thinking, my office is in Nashville, I get off at 5PM and I couldn't go to either Mon-Fri anyway so that was a wash. I'm as close to one as the other so distance isn't a factor. If I pay the $100 or so membership fee for Stones River, do I get any perks? Like not have to wait in line as long or not limited to 2hrs? I reload, are they brass nazis at Stones River? I know I have to make this decision but TGO has a standup group of people and I value your opinions. What should I do? Brad

I live in Lebanon, work in Nashville. I'll make a deal with you. I'll come over and shoot your beavers and haul off the carcass, if you can come over and help me with moles. I've set traps, killed the grubs - etc. I live in a neighborhood and can't shoot them. Of course I never see them to shoot them, just the damage they leave behind. They are ruining my lawn. Also, I spent a fortune putting up a fancy black fence in the back lawn and they have burrowed around my walk-in gate and boogered it up. Brad

Very thought that entered my mind. Some Divine Intervention perhaps? You didn't draw, brandish or do anything remotely not in line with the law and you and family came home safe. Win! I'm on the fence when it comes to OC vs CC. In some places I feel OC is necessary. At times I feel the need to CC. Great thing is I have the option. LOL! Brad

You and I met on the 1911 forum this past summer and talked on the phone. I was single staging at the time. Started shooting more and moved up to a turret. Started shooting more and bought the Hornady LNL AP. I think you got a lemon, which every brand has. I think you should give the LNL another shot. Mine runs like a top. I can hit 400 rnds/hour being EXTREMELY careful and that's without feeders. A-H in Nashville sells them for $419. I just bought it this past Monday. Offer still stands to come look at my set up and I'll help you set yours up. If you're still only loading 45acp, I say go with a Dillon SD. As much as I love my Hornady the SD for one caliber is hard to beat. Even if you go with a Dillon, I can set it up in no time. I set up a friends 550 and had never seen one before. The beauty of starting single stage and learning the process. Call me if you need me. Brad

I carry one CnL'd in my pocket every day for over a month now. I work in a fairly gun friendly office but CONCEALED means CONCEALED. A 1911 IWB with a tucked shirt was just very uncomfortable on me. I've carried a 38 snubby on my ankle for years as a BUG, but got made by some libtard old biddy here at the office. So now no ankle gun. I tried pocket carrying my snubby but it printed and was a bit uncomfortable. I bought the P238 and LOVE this thing. What surprises me is how accurate the thing is and no recoil, especially compared to other 380s. I some times get carried away at the range and will blow thru 200 rnds before making myself stop. I don't even know the thing is in my pocket. I bought 200 rnds of factory ammo just for the brass and it never hiccup'd a bit. I've been loading JHP as hot as I can safely get them and it's scary accurate up to 25' less than 3" grouping. No, it's not my 45acp and it has to stay in the truck during the day, but this 380 beats a sharp stick and I can have it on me no matter what I'm wearing. Brad

I enjoy this new store. 2.4 miles from my office. He has some good prices too. After I bought my Sig P238, I bought my .380 dies from him. He's $5 cheaper on Win L+SP primers per 1000. He's $2 cheaper per lb of Win231 and $1 per lb cheaper on HP38. Those are my main components so I really didn't have a reference on other components. I did buy a new Hornady LNL press from him yesterday and he was $80 cheaper than everyone except a few online deals. He was only $10 away from them. Then the only thing is sales tax in TN vs shipping costs. 9 times out of 10 shipping is less than TN sales tax, but a press is fairly heavy. On things like a press or an item that I may have questions on, I prefer to buy local. Then I don't feel bad about going in there and asking a question. What I really like is during my lunch time, I have the place to myself. He'll leave me alone and let me look or devote every minute of his time to help me. Seems like a pretty nice guy. I really like that kinda service, but I hope he does good business too so he stays in business. Just my little unbiased review. Brad

These are closed top and way too much trouble. I didn't realize new barrels were that cheap. The $7 barrels from Coke seem to be a steal. Thanks for all the info guys. I appreciate it. Brad

That was pretty much my thinking, but "free" was pulling awful hard! LOL!

I've got access to 55 gal barrels from my company. The only problem is they used to have hydraulic fluid in them. I was wanting something for water storage but I'm leery that I could clean these out properly. Unsafe? Leave alone? Brad

FWIW, Tom at Guns For America, the gun store on Powell Ave in the 100 Oaks area had two RIAs in stock yesterday. He had a 5" Tactical and the 4" MS both for $439. I have thre RIAs. 5" GI, 4" MS and my pride and joy - a 5" RIA Match. I got the Match from Magiccarpetrides here on this sight. They are hard to find and I believe I bought his within five minutes of his post. I wired him the money immediately and he drove from Knoxville to Nashville and I met him at lunch. I think another person, maybe two on this site has owned it, but it ends here. I'll never let it go unless I had to. A couple of buddies I shoot with have drooled over the trigger and tried to wrangle it away from me. The trigger is superb. It may be taboo since it has target adjustable sites but I carry it. I shoot it too well not to. I was at the range this past Saturday shooting my homemade self cast reloads and checked for squibs twice. When I brought the target in you could see the first three rnds went in the same hole. You could barely tell three went in. I love it. Brad

Imagine how I feel playing it on Wii! LOL! I've got Modern Warfare, Black Ops and the newest one COD MW3 for Christmas. I got online once and as soon as I saw no zombies I haven't even played it again. Brad

Kinda spooky. I set up to cast the EXACT same way you do at the garage door with fan blowing it away from me. I need to have my blood checked as well. Brad

My experience with the PT1911 saw that they preferred a little longer OAL on the 230g RN. I used some Ranier copper plated RN which had a bit of a pointy nose and I loaded them at 1.271. Traditional RN I loaded at 1.268-1.269. Never had a feed issue. Brad

Very nice of him. I looked at the link he gave and looked to be exactly what I was wanting. We're meeting at lunch today. I've been having a lot of trouble with my eyes here lately. I'm a CPA sitting here at a computer and I can barely read. I've been to the eye Dr three times since March (two different Dr's) and we can't figure out anything. I need illumination. My Mom lost her eyesight in July 2000 so I keep a CLOSE watch on bloodsugar. Mine is perfect and I'm not in any diabetic threat. Didn't even have to have glasses 'til this year. Don't know why I went off on that tangent. Looking forward to meeting Broom! Brad

I've been a member at Badger&Blade and Straightrazortalk for years. I've had to shave since the summer before 5th grade. Started using a straight razor at 16. I'll be 40 11/05. I used to have a buddy that helped me out there. Changed jobs in '05 and there's a guy in Hendersonville, I forget his name but he's good. He buys razors, sharpens them and sells them on ebay. If you do a search for razors using "Distance Nearest" he's the guy in Hendersonville. I finally got good enough myself around '08. I use a Norton 4K/8K and one Japanese waterstone that's a 10K(?) I believe. My gym kinda outlawed them in the locker room so I have to use a DE in there. Plastic disposables or multi blades won't even pull thru my beard. I have a 5 o'clock shadow by 9AM and a 3 day beard by 5PM. My beard is the bane of my existence. Brad

I've been wanting to do my own. John Sloan lives in my neighborhood and a few of us got together and brought him a deer so he could show us in person. Well, I had car trouble and got to his house right as he was shrink wrapping the meat and basically missed it. I field dress my deer right. I don't want some yahoo's deer that rode around in the truck all day while it's bow season and 75 deg outside. Or he punctured the bladder. My son is a Weblo 1 Scout and one of the kid's older brother comes with him and his Dad. I think the boy has it bad for one of the other kid's older sister that comes also. All the Dads can see it. LOL! Anyway, this kid has a part time job at one of the meat places. He told me if you got your actual deer back it'd be a miracle, you're getting the weight. Brad

I think it's a Simmons. It's definitely low end whatever brand it is.

Thank you. Since I don't think I'll bow hunt the rest of the season, I might take that scope and just see how it does. I hunt on 635 acres but with the make up of the land, 100 yds is probably about as far as you can shoot. With juvy this weekend and my anniversary the next, it'll probably be rifle for me here on out. I doubt I'll miss the scope on the xbow. If it works well, I'll pick one up so I don't have to switch them out. I don't like worrying about batteries either, but this scope and my light use the same batteries and I keep an extra pack in a bag on my atv. I wear bifocals in contacts and have a lot of trouble picking up a black crosshair. The red dot gives me that contrast my eyes need. Just wasn't sure it'd work. Thank you for your help. Brad
