That sucks. You'll prob find him in the morning though if you hit good but high couldv'e clipped the top of the lungs. They can cover some ground before they succumb to that wound and they can possibly not bleed much or at all. I did exactly that on a nice 8pt on opening day last year. I saw that i hit him high, arrow passed 3/4 way through then fell out at about the 50yd mark.. He didnt bleed good at first, then bled a little, then stopped bleeding altogether. Then i found some kicked up ground and followed it and he was laid out in a creek. I killed a big fat old doe this evening. Perfect 15yd shot. Zipped one right through her heart. She ran maybe 30 yds then rolld back down the ridge. No tracking at all, watched her fall. Why didnt you shoot a turkey???

I mean seriously why didn't fry guy explode his melon with a mop handle after the ftf? Or send him to the burn center by dousing him with that hot damn coffee? Or anything? Maybe even lock the door after he went outside?

I'll actually give you an older CVA Apollo inline. It's barrel and all was replaced with the recall they did several years ago. I have killed quite a few with it. I bought a new one last year and i doubt this one is ever gonna be used again. You'll have to get a scope for it (i'll include some rings) never put the irons on the new barrel after the recall. It's yours if you want it.

Is that supposed to draw a crowd?

Meh, Gander Mountain not too exciting to me. I like Academy personally. Cabelas was looking at land at Beckwith Rd. 2(or so) years ago always thought that'd be a cool store to have. Be better than BPS anyways. I like Reloaders Bench they are specialized, have to pay a little more for that but they have things no big box would ever have.

In the last couple weeks I've planted cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, swiss chard, lettuce, spinach, turnip greens, kale, mustard. Gave it a go on some sugar snaps and english peas. Sowed down all bare ground with clover/rye/vetch cover crop. Still getting a tomato here and there in the few i left, okra, and bush beans. I rooted around and pulled out 4 real nice sweet taters Sat just to see how they were doing. Should have a good bunch of them. And I have some corn that'll be ready in about 2 weeks I think :)

+1 on the Thorogoods! Bought these in June 2011. Walk in this environment every day A pair of Timberland Pros that I bought before the Thorogoods, wore 'em for about 6 months: (just happened to have them in the back of the truck) That was my second set of Timberlands, the first held up for over a year so I bought another and they were terrible. I'm about to order another pr of Thorogoods just b/c I want some pull ons. They're the best boots I've ever owned. Better than the Redwings I had and these were comfortable straight out of the box.

...Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul. Something screwy had to be goin' on if none of these men could defeat McCain. Primary's gotta be rigged. -
Maybe we will get to see Homeland Security in action

I hate it. You can't abbreviate or use acronyms unless they're mainstream things. So I have it disabled on my iphone. On my android work phone i can't figure out how to. I'm sure it's possible but i mostly only use that one for the wifi to use my tablet and my laptop. So i don't text or really type all that much on it and i haven't really tried. (and damn I carry a lot of crap every day. An EMP attack would make my day peaceful)

I love those things. My wife and I were texting 2 weeks ago as I was looking at coolers at Academy and sent her a pic of one asking if that was the one she wanted. She replied "get a *igger one"... I just simply replied... "Racist"

Pop told me they used to haul refugees that would bring buckets of fish oil or something with them and spill it all in the helicopters. Must've been pretty nasty, he spoke about as highly of them as the vc.

I decided that they don't read letters. At best I can hope they tally "for" or "against". So my letteres read something like: I'm against immigration bill xxxxx I'm against the treason ya'll want to commit by aiding any of the terrorist rebels in Syria. I'm against any new gun legislation. Sometimes I write "apparently you are the only person from TN that supports xxxx" (like with immigration and Syria) I'm short with em. They don't give a damn about what I think and I don't give a damn about if they don't like my correspondence.

Recalls azz, he needs to stand in front of a wall with O, McCain and the other treasonous bastards and face a firing squad.

If you ask old kin folk you can usually round up most of the necessary stuff, like a pressure canner. Got mine from my aunt who don't mess with it no more. (Better i reckon in case the .gov is wathing pressure canner sales, which sounds dumb but wouldn't suprise me nowadays) She was glad to see it go, you'll find a lot of old women are scared of pressure canners and never trusted them. I sometimes just water bath can in it too instead of getting my other canner out. I look for jars and rings at estate sales. And there's usually seasonal clearances at big box stores. Anyone oughta be able to start with a $100 bill. i like making jam, we got one of them Ball Freshtech Jam and Jelly Makers as a present and i think it's awesome. It only makes small batches, which is fine by us we go easy in the sugar anyhow, but it makes perfect jam and jelly every time if you follow the recipes. I made strawberry, blackberry, peach, and muscadine this year. Gonna make apple when good fall apples come in. I love the thing. We're on a little vacation with friends and i had some store bought grape jelly yesterday and that dang stuff ain't no count.

I only go to the movies at Stardust in Watertown. Indoor theaters suck. I like my space.

Personally I like gardening and eating what i grow. I like having the stuff around to eat throughout the year and i hate wasting stuff from the garden. In a dire situation we'll have it. Canned goods aren't all that expensive but I don't have to buy the things that we grow and preserve. I like the idea that I'm the only person that has touched my vegetables and my deer meat. I like to say to my wife "they ain't got no bathrooms out in them fields where they grow store bought vegetables. An illegal alien probably sh!t on that stuff"

I turned it on there and watched about 30 seconds. I said "what an asshole" to my wife. I then got up and went down to the garage to work on my four wheeler. Came back up after 30 minutes or so and watched "Wag The Dog" that I dvr'ed from 7pm. I find it strangely ironic that it was on at the same time.

McCain playing poker on phone during Syria debate
JWC replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
"We" ain't deciding nothing. I think the citizenry is pretty unanimously opposed to intervention. He don't need to listen he knows he'll vote whatever king negro wants. McCain should be sent back to Vietnam. All the great men that were KIA/MIA there why did this arrogant prick have to make it back? Obama, Kerry, and McCain ought to be walked in front of a wall and shot for wanting to help the Syrian rebels that are comprised of al qaida terrorists. Am I the only person that considers any strike on Syria as directly aiding and providing comfort to al qaida and therefore treasonous? I can't believe these dildos are even considering it. They ought lynched for it. it's spitting on the graves of our men and women who have died fighting for over a decade. if they allow us to aid those savages i will always think of all of the legislative branch as co-conspiritors to treason. My kids will never fight for this government -
I have a Mossberg 185 20ga. it's ok to squirrel hunt or rabbit hunt with. Not a huge fan of using it for anything else. To me they don't shoulder naturally and a bolt action isn't very ergonomic to wing shoot with. They only hold 3 rounds, for home defense that rules them out for me. Never shot slugs through it but it's only 2-3/4" and only has a bead front sight. Choke tubes are external screw in and I only have full. I've always been fortunate to have better options in shotguns for multiple uses. Personally when it comes to a slug gun/all purpose shotgun there's a reason pumps are so popular. But mine's a great squirrel gun. Mine is nostalgic for me. It was bought used in 1950 by my granddaddy for my dad who was 8. He paid $24 for it from a guy that needed cash. I'd say it's accounted for somewhere around a dump truck full of squirrels in the last 60 years. There wasn't no deer to hunt in TN back then and they were poor. They ate a lot of squirrels. My aunt always says "they ate everything but the tails." Everybody nowadays wants to squirrel hunt with a .22 but grandaddy wouldn't have none of that because they'd ruin the brains

Get where you can see a long way and spend time behind binoculars. Then strategize on how to get close enough to shoot. Be better if you can do some scouting to find some sign like where they may be feeding the week before or talk to someone that knows the area but elk being in Utah and you being in TN makes that kinda tough. To me they hunt like turkeys. They're social and Like turkeys, when they aren't gobbling you gotta come up with other ways like finding em and sneaking up on them and bushwhacking them or sitting on a likely meadow with some sign and just watching and waiting or blind calling a little with a cow call. I hope you've been exercising, elk hunting ain't easy. Thinner air sucks balls. And what if you have to run a mile or more over rocks to get in front of some. (Did that once. It was a bitch but the guy with me killed one, he wasn't in as good of shape but it was his first elk and he was thankful I was full of piss and vingar and pushed him to do it. Really it wasn't my piss and vinegar it was because I ran in my work boots with leg weights on nearly every evening all summer after working 10-12 hour days landscaping in the 100 degree heat.) All that said it's tough to connect on the first try, hunting an animal you've never hunted, on ground you've never hunted. Take the time to truly enjoy your surroundings and the stuff you see and feel... and make a spiritual connection to get in good graces with the elk gods. You do that and they'll reward you.
