  1. The Chinese that build the red HF boxes must get paid more than the ones that build Craftsman. Cause their boxes are a lot better. Sears annoys me cause they try to quietly pass off Chinese tools as American made tools on they're past reputation alone.
  2. I identified it for you. Ring Necked Duck aka ring bill aka Blackjack aka 'jack They're fun to shoot.
  3. What a shame.
  4. Well duh, it's a Wring neck. :)
  5. I haven't been getting any good deer pics so I pulled one of my cameras yesterday and put it on a carcass of a deer my brother shot this past weekend. Took some tie wire and wired it all to a tree. Set camera to video so maybe I'll get something cool like this for my little boy to see.
  6. We had backstrap n gravy, boiled cabbage, black eyed peas, and cornbread. Had ham and biscuits for breakfast so we went minute steak for supper. No hog jowl this year cause I didn't feel like going to the store. I reckon ham's gonna have to be lucky this year. And I thawed a butt out to smoke but Iwent hunting yesterday evening and got lazy today. I'll fire it up in the morning before work and let my wife take care of it.
  7. Mine has a safety. It's reliable. I'd say all of em are extremely reliable because, except for a few, you have to shoot them to unload them. So that means you walk around cocked, raise and lower from stands, drive in the truck, on atv's, etc. Even with a good safety all you gotta do is take the arrow out to render it safe and unloaded. a loud noise and possibly destroyed xbow from dry firing is what you get with no arrow. Mine's hanging up downstairs cocked right now (Which reminds me I need to shoot it.) So basically he was crossing a fence with an arrow in it and the safety off and the trigger was depressed. Prayers he makes it and recovers.
  8. Bet there's a couple people sad that they lost their granddaddy's huntin' rifle they've been hiding all this time.
  9. I use Titegroup for 9 and .38. I shoot the same cast 125gr for both. Usually Winchester primers.
  10. I would consider "maybe" to be ridiculously optomistic.
  11. Cut em up, roll em in flour, and fry em like you would fried chicken. Boil off the meat and make squirrel n dumplins. That's all the recipes you need :)
  12. Nice Gray ducks! Congrats
  13. I wouldn't think it was cold enough to affect it. I've had gun malfunctions in real cold while duck hunting but I'm talking very cold where it never thought about getting above freezing. Once had ice froze between back of trigger and trigger guard. That was a bitch.
  14. There's a small surplus store on Nolensville Rd in Nashville by the Fairgrounds- Battleground Surplus. I stop in there every now and then and get new used grass cuttin' britches. It's small but Freidmans sucks.
  15. My wife suprised me with this monster Cabelas Commercial dehydrator for Christmas: We don't usually do expensive presents for each other but she got it a while back on a real good sale and just wanted to suprise me. This thing's ridiculous, it's about the size of an oven and I have no idea where I'm going to put it. She said we could swap it if it's too big but it's so much more awesome than anything my cheap azz would have ever bought that there ain't no way in hell I'm getting rid of it, lol! I put 19lbs of ground jerky sticks in it Christmas night and it still had 4 empty racks.
  16. I bought a used Savage 11 in 7mm/08 for $300. Stuck a Redfield Revenge 3-9x40 on it so I'm in it for $450 and it shoots great. But being that the season closes in 9 days you have pretty much 10.5 months to find a deal. If you look for a used 770, or Ruger American Rifle, or Savage Axis or other used rifles you'll probably be able to find one in that budget scoped and all. Flip a coin on caliber. I'd more look for a deal if it doesn't matter to you. For the most part, the rifles I referenced really only come in common deer calibers any way (with the exception of .223 or 22-250 models.) Keep the 20ga for wing shooting and other critters. You can kill deer with one but to me they just aren't optimal. I would only choose shotgun with slugs if the rules say I can't shoot a rifle. And I'd personally want a dedicated slug gun with rifled barrel and all before I considered adding a scope on a shotgun. That said if it's all I had I'd hunt the last 9 days of the season with the 20ga you have and pray a monster didn't come out at 125yds, lol.
  17. She is. Friend of mine is her road manager.
  18. I think it's ok to say "hobo stew". I believe it would'nt be PC if it was "homo stew." But then who the hell would want to eat that?
  19. This is a great thread! My brother has been wanting to go with me. First time he's shown interest. I'll share it with him. I could tell him all this stuff but it's a good read. You misrepresented dog hunting though.
  20. I have quite a bit. Mostly standard stuff, various sizes of skillets and dutch ovens. I've grabbed a few pieces at sales but have cleaned up and given it away to family or friends. You have some pieces I would like to have, like a waffle iron. But I don't really need one. My wife don't like waffles so she probably wouldn't use it. And I probably wouldn't, my biggest risk of starvation is her not being home to fix my plate. She and I both prefer to cook on cast iron.
  21. Carthage Walmart ain't 45 mins from Alexandria.
  22. You should look into those big, heavy, brushguard type bumpers. :)
  23. I shot one with a 62gr Federal Fusion this past Sat. 75 yds+/-. Bullet went through the ribs and into the far shoulder stopping under the skin. Deer ran 20yds or so. Pulled the bullet out tonight it mushroomed pretty evenly and weighed 60.1gr on my RCBS 505. I guess that's about 97% weight retention. Not gonna make .223 my go to but I'm not scared to hunt with it.
  24. I may have one thing I can agree on with "that guy." I'd rather socialize with the blonde than that sasquatch that's sitting on the other side of him.
  25. FL Zone D- Muzzleloader season Feb 24-Mar 2 I'm going :)
