I saw the Ochlockonee out yesterday afternoon on my way home from taking our trash to our office dumpster (figuring trash pickup for us backwoods people could be a while.) It was pretty damn cool. Was expecting a sudden surge at some point but by all local reports it just slowly came back up late in the evening. Anyway was interesting. No damage at my place in the woods in Wakulla County. Power out from 7am ET to 8:30 ET. Which is good didn't even burn a tank of gas in the generator. We lose power often from afternoon thunderstorms so not too big a deal. Was warned it could be weeks so its very good news. Tallahassee no where near as bad as Hermine last year, in town tonight monitoring traffic signals on generator power. Just a few this time. I think 9 right now at 1:20am. Last year was every signal the first night... Was told to "bring several days worth of clothes to work when I came in" likely going south to FDOT District 1 tomorrow. Haven't posted in a long time. Still out here lurking though.

Well it's not a black guy... or rifle.

I was gonna suggest the caul fat too Greg. Although I have never tried it either.

My sincere condolences to you and your family sir. It sounds as if you, and all of us, have lost a good man.

do you have to register those real fancy kites? To quote a great friend: "to be a free country we sure do have a lot of rules"

I really want a 3/4T 4wd, crew cab, long bed. Every so often I think I'd like one and then I look a little and I like my paid for 02 again. I worry more that it will be totaled somehow and then I'll be in a real spot. But I could really use the 4 full doors, 3 kids in car seats is a pain. But reality is I want my wife to get a newer van before I get a newer truck. And this time a size van not that mini van crap.

I had a no soliciting sign on the old house. Some are stupid, can't read, or just ignore it. Now I'm in the woods behind a locked gate, with a nearly half mile driveway surrounded by national forest. If any one at all knocks on the door I'm gonna stick a .45 in their face and my wife is going to take the kids to the back bedroom and grab an AR. Ain't no cops going to be here in less than 40 minutes. We live too far out to play. Maybe we'll have a real go-getter magazine salesman one day so we can practice.

It's not the heat, it's the BO

I recall a dude named that once. Back in the 90's when the Kurds first showed up in Nashville. He picked up trash at the apartment complex where a bunch of em lived. We cut the grass there, it was a real dump as you can imagine. The little kids were scared as hell of him and he would jab them with the stick with the nail on the end that he used to pick up trash. And he looked like Saddam... Good entertainment for a 16 year old from lil ol Mt Juliet.

I bought a 16+2 car hauler (except a wood deck) from Triune last week. It seems pretty well built, 5" channel frame and as good or better than any trailers we had when I was landscaping. Paint's decent. Came with radials which I wanted. Brakes on 1 axle. Only little things like the pins to hold the ramps in imo needed to be drilled to put a clip in bc I was afraid they'd bounce out. And I believe it needs side marker and clearance lights that it doesn't have. I'm also going to either wrap all the wire in wire loom or rubber fuel line slit to protect it. I never liked that how they all just run it through a torched out hole in the frame. I loaded it with the rest of my belongings in TN (yard stuff and tools) and drove to FL. It pulls great. I'm gonna throw another $200 or so at it and upgrade the tail lights to led, add marker lights, d rings, and put a tongue box on it. Then it'll be exactly what I want. Glad I bought it. After searching for a while I just couldn't find anything I liked used that was better than $1765 otd. I didn't have to pay tax though bc it was an out of state sale.

Thanks to the Internet, this countrry is in deep doodoo!

A good example last week. Big outrage about the bear hunt they had down here in FL 2 weeks ago. I read a post from an Internet badass that said he was "going to go out in the woods on Saturday and find hunters and punch them in the face." Turns out I didn't here no news about that happening. But it's an example of the type you're speaking of. -
You're in a theater and then this happens. What would you do?
JWC replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
Only movies I've seen have been at the drive-in for 12 years or so. We've moved to FL and there ain't a drive in so I guess I wait til everything comes out on dvd. If there's a threat I'll grab my ar out from under the back seat and join in with all the other guys shooting at the bad guy. But as to the original question I think there's something odd going on or out of place at a theater, or anywhere, I'm first inclined to gtfo. -
Harbor Freight has a little set for like $6. I usually buy a set every now and then just to keep them around. For that price and the purpose I just consider them disposable but they're handy when you need them.

Could make them cheaper in China or India.

Martin Scorsese Hits On New Plan To Stop Gun Violence....? Seriously?
JWC replied to waynesan's topic in General Chat
They oughta use real guns and ammo in movies. After a while all the jack wagon wieners who bemoan and denounce guns while making millions using depictions of guns in their acts, will be departed... Well at least the bad guys. The good guys will be shot multiple times and walk away. Anyways, it'd be a start. -
There's marked woodpecker trees all over Appalachicola National Forest... snakes too. But you may have deciphered the blazing on the trees for me a little. I never really considered it.

That looks like a leaf footed bug nymph. I would guess what you saw last year was likely a wheel bug.

My dad and I went downtown a few years ago. We were on 3rd or 4th or something at church street and he starts laughing and at some point not long after he got back from VN he was stationed down at Memphis. He came home for a few days with 2 buddies. They were driving through downtown and at that corner 2 dudes said some derogatory things about them from the side of the road, so they got out and beat the sh!t out of them. He was still laughing about it 40 years later.
-
Hell they may say he had an ar and an ak and he may have. I wouldn't be surprised if he did...he's a dadgum enemy combatant. If the left tries to link that to gun control they're just a holes.

You don't have to say it's a lesbian. Just say it's a dude and that you two are hitched.

Ya know, today is another example that if the government wanted to make an attempt protect our republic from foreign born Muslim terrorists that are hell bent on killing us all and destroying our country and way of life, they could make progress by simply arming the military, here. So in my mind this is where that whole "well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state" deal comes in. Because if keeping the most advanced military the world has ever known armed all the time isn't necessary to the security of a free state then I guess we're on our own. Frankly anyone that uses this terrorist attack to promote gun control is providing comfort to our enemies and they should be hung swiftly. Prayers to the families
