I should be ashamed of myself, but I will admit it. I laughed.

Well, I just got in my 300 this evening. It is very nice, but it is a lot bigger from what I remembered. It looks like a very well made knife, and I hope to get a lot of use out of it.

Still a ways to go, but definitely a step in the right direction. -

What ever happened with trying your best to difuse or remove yourself from a potential threatening situation? Isn't that what people like Massad Ayoob and others try to teach people, especially those that carry? I am totally speculating here, but I don't think this is a case where some old codger got pissed that they left the pickles off of his whopper. He then went into a frenzied rage and tried to attack an employee. If this was the case, I don't think homicide charges would have been filed. My guess is that the old man was ticked about something and took his complaint to one of the employees. He was probably very animated. Instead of trying to calm the situation, the employee probably verbally pushed back. The article even stated that there was a verbal altercation which escalated into a physical one. If someone gets in your face and calls you a c**ksucker doesn't mean you have to respond back in kind. Just sayin. I could be totally off base with my speculation, but there has to be more to it if homicide charges were filed. Overall, its a sad story. -

I don't see how you can comment either way without really knowing what transpired. -
It would bring in more money, but the whole tax structure isn't necessarily about revenue. It is about control and making sure those that are in power within the federal government stay that way. To be quite frank, our entire tax system sucks.

I appreciate the info. I went to several forums and did some reading before making my first rifle purchase. While possessing little knowledge of rifles, I felt it was difficult to distinguish who is full of it from those who really know what they are talking about. There was too much of DI vs. GP, this manufacturer is better than that one, and they are overated and overpriced type of bull. That is why I ended up coming back here to post a thread seeking recommendations on a good rifle. I am certain I purchased more rifle than I would ever possibly need (especially on tha accessory side), and I am sure that there is better stuff out there in terms of value and performance. To the OP, I don't know if I would be concerned with what is deemed the best. By looking at this thread alone, everyone has a different viewpoint as to what is the best. I dropped a butt load of money on my recent rifle and accessories purchase. Is it the best? Don't know, some say yes, and others say it is an overpriced piece of crap. I don't have the knowledge to say who is right or worng. All I can really say is that I like it, and I plan on having a lot of fun learning with it and shooting the crap out of it. As a become more knowledgable and familiar with the ar platform, I will learn what I like and don't like, and eventually I may be able to make my own determination as to what is "best" for me.

I have to admit. I am stunned at the level of ignorance I have seen on this thread. None of you believe in global warming? Let me guess, you all believe the earth is flat and the moon is made of cheese. Global warming is a scientifically proven fact. Just ask Al Gore and all those on the UN panel on climate change. I have to lie down. I expected much better.

This may be a stupid question (still learning), but is there a big difference in quality and/or performance from manufacturers such as LMT, LT, POF, BMC, LWRC, etc...? Wouldn't someone purchasing an upper from any of the aforementioned manufacturers have a top quality product in their hands? I have wondered how much brand loyalty factors into a person's definition as to what is the best.

Sounds good to me. I really like the choice on the prison fellowship angel tree ministry. All are great choices.

Very nice. Love that stock.

I am sure he will be very excited. Hope you have some ammo cause he will want to take them out shooting that day.

That's pretty cool. Thanks.

A little over a month ago, I posted thread asking for suggestions on a first rifle purchase. I received a bunch of really good suggestions. Thanks. Warbird sent me a couple of PMs with some good advice and suggestions. One of his suggestions was a Scar, which I was already looking at. One of the AR manufacturers he mentioned was LWRC. Willis68 also recommended LWRC as a good manufacturer. For reasons posted in my follow-up thread, I ended up going with the dea configuration of the LWRC M6A2. Well, I couldn't leave it alone, so I started researching and shopping for some accessories. I ended up going with the following: Surefire Scout light Tango Down grip Eotech 4X Magnifier Eotech 553 HWS. I had a hard time deciding what optics I wanted. It was either Aimpoint or Eotech. I got a little irritated that the day after I purchased my optics, TGODavid posted an Aimpoint on the FS thread. Could have saved a little money there. I am now finished with my rifle. I am sure this is a really nice rifle and setup for someone who knows what they are doing. Me, I guess I will look like a butt while trying to learn on it. I am done for quite some time on my firearms purchases. I have a Springfield Professional coming next year (another recommendation from Willis68) and that is it. In the never to be forgotten words of Roberto Duran, "No mas, no mas."

Yep. Just ask Wesley Snipes. You could consider seeking a postion within the administration. That seems to work out okay for tax cheats. Just blame it on TurboTax. The only way to fix it is by putting a majority of strict constiutionalists in office and in the courts, which I seriously doubt will ever happen.

Very nice. You certainly have good taste when it comes to knives and guns.

Thanks for everyone's response. I was bored when I made the OP and I thought this would be a fun exercise to show what people know and how they think. I have to admit that I did expect to see at least one post from the typical overly confident alpha male "gonna carry my .50 barrett etc..." type. Didn't see one. Most have been well reasoned and sobering from the standpoint of there's not really much you can do. So, I guess I should provide a response as to what I would do in this type of scenario. Not much. I am limited in my choices since I have an elderly parent to provide for. I don't stockpile any food in preparation for disasters, so my food resources would go fairly quick. By the time I talked myself around the moral dilemma of looting a food store for survival there would be nothing left. Everyone else would have already taken everything. So I guess I would basically sit at home and do some reading, play some cards, and do a lot of praying while slowly starve to death. Being in relatively good shape and not having any major medical issues, I would give myself a month or two assuming I am not overrun by thugs or desparate neighbors. Due to my obligations and living in the suburbs, there really isn't a lot more I could do. If I did not have someone to provide for, the answer would be pretty much the same. I do not have any hunting ability or wilderness/survival skills outside of knowing how to get lost. I do not have any relatives or friends who live in the deep backwoods or mountains. Therefore, it would be pretty much nonsensical for me to leave my home. The only additional thing I might do is try to help and protect, to the best of my ability, those who do have families with young kids or elderly parents. At least this way I am not forced to go through the hell of trying to survive such conditions and I am helping someone on my way out.

Oh come on now. You know you have been practicing drawing from your holster and doing reload and malfunction drills while taking a crap. I've just wondered how you get in that combat mindset while at home on the toliet. Heaven forbid you should practice in public.

Nice. Hope you like it. As CJK said 1911s are addictive. After buying my first 1911, I ended up with 3 more within the next 5 months.
