I went to the show on Sunday. I didn't expect a whole lot, so I wasn't dissappointed when I left 20 minutes after looking. The only shows in the nearby region that I think have been reasonably ok have been the shows at Camp Jordan.

Interesting video. I was quite surprised it was coming out of CBS. It is a little long, but definitely worth the watch. http://hotair.com/archives/2010/12/20/video-the-coming-collapse-in-the-state-budgets/ We have seen over the past year all of the riots from public sector unions in Europe over austerity measures taken by their government. If we get fiscally responsible federal, state, and local governments that start to cut away at the public sector behemoth, which will have to happen if we are to avoid a total collapse of the system, what do you think the possibility of riots such as the aformentioned coming here? The thing that disturbs me is how many people don't care or are oblivious to the fact that the money they seek is coming out of fellow americans pockets. Some take the attitude of, "I don't care who gets taxed just as long as I get mine." whereas others are just stuck on stupid. One of the converstaions that I will never forget happened during an interview of a local lady in Detroit. This was back when the federal government was handing out money to various local communities. Reporter: Why are you here? Lady: To get some money. Reporter: Where is it coming from? Lady: Obama. Reporter: Where did Obama get it? Lady: His stash. I don't know. I don't know where he gets it from, but he (is) given(ing it) to us. Lady: We love him (Obama). That is why we voted for him.

.45 ACP-Wilson Combat
-
I currently own a Nighthawk Custom T3 and a Wilson CQB. I have a Springfield Professional coming next year. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the previously mentioned manufacturers. Since I have yet to receive my Springfield and can't really comment on it, my preference would be towards Wilson. Don't get me wrong, my Nighthawk is awesome, but my CQB is just down right mean. My CQB is the best 45, 1911 or otherwise, I have ever shot. The finish on the CQB is superb. I have put close to a 1000 rounds through it and it still looks new. Just my $0.02, and that is all it is worth, but I don't think the Supergrades, Mastergrades, etc... are really worth the extra expense. Carrying a $2-2.5k 1911 is one thing, but carrying a $4-5k 1911 is something totally different. There is no way I would want to use a Wilson Supergrade as my EDC. They are just too expensive.

Middle TN Polar Bear Meet & Shoot ... December 26th?
mav replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
Is that near Winchester? -
Is your EDC also your nightstand gun?
mav replied to Sandman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yes, my EDC also rests on my nightstand. -
I put a Vanek Classic Grandmaster trigger and a set of Dawson Prescion fiber optic sights on my Glock. Both of them were definite improvements over the stock components.

:clap:That was absolutely great. I needed a good laugh. Thanks.

Five kinds of hell you say. Man, that must have been pretty bad. Never heard that phrase before. Well, you are certainly a better man than me.

Well it defintely will fill a niche for those who have to stick their noses in everyone else's business and also those who have to bitch and complain about anything and everything. I guess Shazam co-founder Philip Inghelbrecht is a mistake-free driver.

That pretty much sums it up tim. That is one of the best responses I have read thus far regarding higher end 1911s. Thanks for sharing. Willis68 had recommended my new 1911, which I have yet to receive (8-15 month wait period). The Springfield Professional. After reading about all the unbelieveable testing the gun went through in the competition for the FBI contract, I knew it was the gun I wanted. Will this gun be a competition gun? Nope. Will it be a safe queen? Nope, don't own any of those since all of my guns are shot frequently. It will be my EDC and range gun. Could I use a Glock or Sig etc... as my EDC? You bet. I own both and love shooting them. Outside of my Mark III Hunter, my Glock 34 is the gun I shoot the most. However, I have a preference to 1911s. I love the way they fit in my hand. The 1911 being sexy is just an added benefit. Could I effectively use a Kimber, RIA, S&W, etc... as my EDC 1911? Absolutely, and I did for quite a while (Kimber Ultra Raptor II). When I got in my Wilson CQB and Nighthawk T3 I realized that I am quite a bit more accurate with both of them in comparison to both of my Kimbers. With that in mind, they were the guns I want in my hand if the situation ever called for it. So, in short, the extra money (as I stated in an earlier post) was worth it to me.

That was very funny. I will admit that I have asked some of those questions like the brown character. Does that make me a moron or a jackass? Perhaps. One thing I am thankful for is not everyone on the gun forums is so pretenious as the white character. Some on this forum have been very helpful to me with some of my questions and decisions, even though I am sure the question had been asked a thousand times. While the video is funny, and I saw a little of myself with some of the questions being asked, what I found funnier was one of the comments under the video. One thing I hope is that as I become more knowledgable and more skillful, I will be able to help those seeking answers in the same way that others have helped me.

That is really cool. Thanks for posting the link. I had no idea this was available. I tried it just a few minutes ago. It works. Apparently there is some guy at a local bar weilding a knife and refusing to leave.

I have often wondered if it is the ACLU and others attempt at finding a somewhat mentally unstable person and push them over the edge with crap like this. If the person loses it and does something incredibly stupid, the ACLU or whoever it may be then comes out and says, "See. We told you how all these people are." It would be nice if the superintendents responded back by stating that Christmas is a federal holiday, so (quoting Eddie Murphy), "Have a Coke and a smile and STFU. By the way, have a Merry Christmas."

Its not just guns, it is anything and everything. I'm sorry for you guys who don't like Dr. Pepper. Its not my fault you don't have good taste for sweetened and carbonated beverages.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. It is a good way to spend a cold afternoon.

Oops, video didn't post.

I just got home from work and started perusing some of my frequently viewed news sources and blogs. I came across this video posted on Hot Air. I have seen worse, but everytime I see crap like this it infuriates me. I would love to shove that whip so far up that guy's butt he could tell me how it tastes. It is very sad that stuff like this (and worse) still goes on. I thank God I live in the USA.

You would have to make mine a Dr. Pepper since I don't drink anymore.

I am like you in someways. I don't really care for all the glock vs 1911 or caliber debate. To me, it is all just a bunch of crap. I own both Glocks and 1911s. I own various caliber handguns. I enjoy shooting all of them. One thing I do not get, and this just isn't related to firearms, is why some feel that they have to dump on other peoples nice things. To make sure their is no misinterpretation, I am not saying that is what you said or even intended. If you read this forum enough I am sure that one will see that someone will make a post showing a nice and expensive weapon they bought, and it is almost a certainty that someone else will take a jab at it. "By God, I can't believe you paid that much money for that. I only paid $50 for mine and it is just as good." Happens all the time. It doesn't really bother me because I buy what I want because it is what I wanted. In regards to this thread, I doubt anyone's feelings were hurt. Based upon my experience, I stand by what I wrote. That is one statement that I agree with wholeheartedly, and it is the best statement of the thread. I might add that giving a good shooter a better gun he will be even better. You could give Dave Sevigny a mediocre handgun and I bet he will still outshoot most people. Give him a Glock 34, and nobody stands a chance.

I prefer the Glock vs 1911 or the which caliber is better myself.

If you are comparing a Wilson CQB to a Wilson CQB Supergrade, then yes, I would agree with your statement. I do not think that a top of the line Wilson (or other custom shop) will perform much better than one of their regular custom models. Does that mean they aren't worth the extra price? No, that is only relevant to that individual. Now, if you are comparing a custom 1911 to a RIA or other cheaper priced 1911, then I can't agree at all with your statement. I owned a couple of Kimbers which are very fine 1911s. I never had the first problem with them. Both Kimbers are moderately priced 1911s (~$1000 - 1100). When I bought my first Wilson and took it to the range, I could immediately tell the difference from the first shot. The Wilson blew away the Kimber from every aspect. There was absolutely no comparison. Was it worth the extra money (an extra $1000 over the Kimber)? At first I didn't think so, but the more I shot the Wilson and thought about which gun I would rather have in a life-threatening situation, I changed my mind. As far as buying a RIA, I wouldn't recommend against it. However, there would be other stuff as I mentioned earlier that I would prefer. Is it as good as a custom 1911? Absolutely not, but that doesn't make it crap either. As stated earlier, buy it and enjoy shooting it. From what I have read on this forum, several people have them and enjoy them immensely.
-
It seems you have pretty much made up your mind. Buy it, enjoy it, and shoot the crap out of it. Don't know if I would spend a bunch of money buying "tons of stuff" to put on it. IMHO, all you need on a 1911 is a good set of sights. If I was in the market for a cheaper 1911, I would be looking at a used Springfield or Kimber. I would also go with a fullsize 1911 as per Willis68's suggestion. However, just to be forthcoming, my EDC is a Nighthawk T3. All my other 1911s are fullsize.

American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee Any thoughts? That quote I love is: "We welcome holiday celebrations that teach children about a variety of holidays. We believe, however, that holiday celebrations that focus primarily on one religious holiday can result in indoctrination as well as a sense within students who do not share that religion of being outsiders to the school." So does wishing someone Merry Christmas mean one is intolerant?

I watched it. I don't think Kate would have a good time having sex. She would find something to complain about.
