  1. My ZT 0300 opens almost as fast as my Microtech Combat Troodon.
  2. Were there a lot of knife dealers at the show? I was thinking about driving up to Knoxville today and take a gander.
  3. I can understand both sides to this issue. But, if the range is willing to supply an alternative gun with ammo at no charge, I don't see what the problem is. Take the free ammo and go pass the test.
  4. Is gun snobbery a bad thing? Yes, I think it is. Snobbery in general sucks. I am all for having nice things. As one can see from my posts on TGO, I have quite a few of them myself. However, having nice things doesn't call for people to be a pretentious prick about them.
  5. Just some thoughts I had today while talking to some people at the gun store and range. Ever since I got into firearms almost two years ago I have ran across all kinds of people in the shooting community. While some are first class jerks, most of the people I have met who are fairly regular shooters are some of the best people out there (please note that I am being a little more specific than just gun owners). There almost seems to be some sort of camaraderie amongst those in the shooting sports. There is none of the "well my gun is better than yours and it does that or that" type of crap you see on the forums. Additionally, I haven't ran into the fan boy or mall ninja (finally figured out what that was) types at any of the ranges that I belong to. Most of them are just down to earth everyday common folk. Most of the people I have met have no problems allowing others to shoot their guns, and in some cases, shoot their ammo. I know when I am at the range anyone I meet is more than welcome to shoot any gun that I have on me, which is usually about seven. Almost all of the folks that I meet at the range are just like me. They are there to learn or improve on something, whether it be marksmanship, defense, or competition in addition to just having good time blowing the crap out of paper targets. The path into this community has been a short one, and in my case, it has been a little bit expensive. Nonetheless, it is a path that I am glad I have taken.
  6. Nice. I have been looking for a Shadow III, but have yet to find one.
  7. I made a big score at today's show. I walked out with two Shriner's pecan rolls. I haven't had one in a long time, so I figured I would buy a couple.
  8. Since the 1911 vs. whatever debate will never come to an end (I am certain it will pop up again next month), I was just curious as to what you would have chosen if you were given the option. Why? Back in November Willis68 had given me an article on the FBI contract for a 1911 for their SWAT and HRT guys. I was totally blown away at how rigorous the testing was on the 1911s. I was so impressed that I went out and placed an order for the winner of the contract, the Springfield Professional. If I was given the choice I think I would have to choose a 1911. Perhaps willis68 can repost the link to the article since I no longer have it. It was a good read.
  9. Question for all the 1911 lovers. Since I have gotten into firearms I own or have owned Glocks, H&Ks, Sigs, FNs, Rugers, and various manufacturers of 1911s. Out of all the handguns that I have owned or have shot, I am definitely a 1911 fanboy. While I love my 1911s, I recently I picked up a 2011. I have to admit that everytime I shoot it a smile appears on my face. It is an absolute joy to shoot. I had been looking at a HK 45, but I think my next 45 (later in the year) will be another 2011. What are your thoughts on the 2011 platform? Love 'em, hate 'em, own 'em?

    If you had...

I agree, for a $1000 I would look at a used 1911. You can find a bunch with very low round counts. If you wouldn't mind spending $400 more, someone had a nice Les Baer Thunder Ranch posted in the classifieds (don't know if it has been sold or not).
  11. If I was armed, I would have shot until the clip was empty. If I was like the guy in the video, I would be giving thanks that my cardio is in decent shape and run my ass off.
  12. Man willis, you sure do cause a lot of controversy. This thread has been highly entertaining.

    Egypt

I think one of our government's biggest concerns is who will take his place, and will they be friendly (even if paid for like Mubarak) to the US.
  14. I played the original Dead Space when it came out a couple of years ago. It was great. I just saw that Dead Space 2 was released two days ago. Anyone got it yet, or are you planning to get it? The reviews are very good. I will probably pick up a copy this weekend. Dead Space 2 | Visceral Games | EA
  15. Well, you are no Steven Spielberg thats for sure, but it wasn't bad at all.
  16. Very nice. Hope you enjoy it.
  17. Thanks. I had been looking at Dawson's. They are about the same price as everyone else. Around $60 for a 126 mm 17 rd 9mm mag. I was hoping to get unbelievably lucky and someone would say where to get 'em new for $30.

    Thursday Joke

Excellent. I have to remember that one.
  19. It used to be pretty good. The last three or four times I went I was dissapointed. However, as I stated earlier, I will probably go anyway. Maybe this show will be better than the last few.
  20. Well, Obama is right on winning the future. Win it for everybody except us.
  21. Nice pic. I liked it so much I put it on as wallpaper on my work computer.
  22. Well, I might argue with you on that point because it is cloudy outside.
  23. I plan on attending the AR/M4 class. Talk about being totally out of my element.
  24. I couldn't bring myself to watch it.
