  1. Personally, I enjoy reading what people have to say on forums such as this, even if it spikes a 10 on the BS meter. I consider forums such as TGO etc... the male equivalent of The View.

    Sig Crazy!

    Very nice. Congratulations.
  3. Very nice indeed. There is definitely a 2011 in .45 in my future. I love the way STI 2011 grips feel.
  4. $25 for a gallon of Hydrochloric acid? Man, that is outrageously expensive.

    9mm Texas-style

Nice. I will probably have a 100% STI in the future. They have some really nice stuff. My newest 2011 is half STI.
  6. Yes, that is correct. I was talking about a detail strip on the Mark III. Everything is removed from the gun leaving nothing but an empty frame and about 30 parts on your desk. The first time I did it, it took me about 3 hours to figure out how to put it all back together correctly. It is very easy for me to do it now, but it is still a pain when you compare it to a Glock.
  7. Nothing in particular. I was sitting at home bored one day and decdided that I wanted to buy a gun and go get my permit. I did, and the rest is hostory.
  8. I may just buy one. Right now I am using a ZT 0300 as my EDC. It is a great knife, but it is a little big. The XM-18 is awesome, but it is a little more than I want to spend for a EDC knife. The knife I really want right now is a Microtech A.D.O. or a CR Shadow III. Very tough to find one for sale.
  9. Well, I guess I am now a NRA member. I was contemplating on buying the life membership, but having spent so much on a recent impulsive gun purchase, I decided to hold off for now. Perhaps later. I did however purchase a 5 year membership.
  10. I know there is some degree of anonymity here. That said, is it still wise to flaunt one's disdain for the current law and openly state that you have no intention of obeying it? I could be wrong, but it seems sort of foolish. I think there are better ways to go about working to change the law instead of just downright refusing to obey it.
  11. Anyone looking at getting one of these? Look pretty sweet and not terribly expensive either.
  12. Nice grouping on the x ring.
  13. I made my 500th post without being banned, and only had to suffer a little humiliation along the way. Do I get a cookie or golf clap or something?

    new to me

Very nice. I wouldn't mind shooting one of those one day. I wonder how they compare to the Ruger Marks.
  15. That is good news. Got a question. When this goes the the SCOTUS and if they decide that parts of the bill are unconstitutional, does that mean the whole bill will have to be scrapped or just the part declared unconsititutional?
  16. Man, you guys are mean.
  17. This has nothing to do with counter-terrorism. Gotta protect those government union jobs.
  18. Those were exactly my sentiments in an earlier post. One thing you didn't mention was they were willing to provide an alternative gun and ammo at no charge.
  19. Its amazing what a good mag will do. I don't know why so many dump all over Kimber. I had two Kimbers, a Tactical II HD and Ultra Raptor II, and I never had the first problem with them even using factory mags.
  20. I was cleaning my handguns tonight and this morning. I did a detail strip on two of them. One of them was my Ruger Mark III. Taking that gun completely apart and putting it back together will certainly make you appreciate the simplicity of Glocks.
  21. Is the EXPO show a lot better than Chilhowee? I have been to the show at Chilhowee several times, but I have never been to the EXPO show.
  22. Yes, you are right. There are times when I don't catch things that are tongue in cheek. I guess I sort of took this thread personally because there are some on the forum who don't know me from Adam, but they still would classify me as a gun snob just because my last five gun purchases were very expensive firearms. I hate that crap. Erik, you are absolutely correct. 1911 fan boys are some of the worst offenders. I have called myself a 1911 fan boy in other posts, but when I seriously think about what defines a fan boy, I think I have mistakenly used that label. I am no doubt a fan of the 1911. It is my favorite platform. Would it be the gun I would want in a defensive situation? Yep. Is it the best gun for the situation, or the best platform ever created? I have no idea, but I do like it. Do I think some manufacturers are better than others? Yes, but I don't crap all over other people's 1911s just because mine cost twice as much. I hate that crap just as much as the crap people spew about their $400 1911 being every bit as good as a $3000 semi-custom. As I stated earlier, there are snobs on both sides of the pricing spectrum. In the interest of full disclosure, my next handgun (if my dealer can find one) will be a HK P30, not a 1911.
  23. Just out of curiousity Dave, what brought on this thread? Over the last 6 months, I have read a lot of your posts and you seem fairly even-tempered and level headed.
  24. Snobbery has nothing to do with the price of the firearm. Snobbery deals with a person's attitude. Snobs can also be found by people who have low to moderately priced firearms. For example, someone who s**ts all over someone else by saying some like, "I can't believe how much you paid for that. By God, I can buy five whatever for the price of your gun and they are just as good." That person is a snob. There are also brand snobs. Hell, just look at the Glock vs. 1911 debates. You have snobs on both sides. In the end, buy what you want or like and enjoy it. If someone doesn't like it or thinks their's is better for whatever reason, well, screw them. You worked for the money to fund that purchase, and > than 99% of the time they didn't help you buy it.
