  1. :rant:I have been fighting a cold that has lasted for almost 2 weeks. It has been more of a nuisance than anything else. I decided to go to the drug store this morning to purchase some decongestant. While at the drug store, I noticed that a lot of the shelves contained slips of paper stating that you would need to go to the pharmacy in order to get the medicine. I grabbed a piece of paper and went to the pharmacy counter to get what I wanted. I then had to show ID, read some agreement, and sign my name before I could get the item. I asked the teller why all of this was necessary for over-the-counter medicine. She responded condescendingly by asking me if I had never heard of methamphetamines and did I not realize that some people were snythesizing meth from the cold medicine. She then responded that this was all to protect the children. I have to admit that when I heard the last part I wanted to vomit. I remember a few years ago Congress passed some nanny-state legislation to combat illicit meth manufacturing. I also remember doing a phone survey on the matter, in which I stated that I was totally against it. Since I am hardly ever sick and rarely buy over-the-counter medicine, this was my first experience since the implementation of the legislation. Perhaps I am making too big of a deal of this, but I did not like it one bit. I am not a criminal, and I don't really like the idea that I am treated as one and must submit my purchase to some database to prove that I am not. As far as the "for the children" statement goes, bulls**t. Too much garbage legislation gets passed using that reasoning. Rant is over.
  2. Anyone here ever had a PVD coating put on their watch? Any comments on it?
  3. I was there between 10:15 and 11:45. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet anyone. Did anyone show up? I asked a few people present if they were part of TGO, and all I got were some perplexing stares. Perhaps next time if there is to be a meet and shoot, everyone can meet at Burger King on Signal Mountain Rd before going to the range.
  4. I can't believe I missed this thread. I love nice watches. My preference is towards Omega. I feel that they offer models that provide a nice balance between a dress and sport watch. I usually alternate between my Seamaster and X-33 as my everyday watch. A lot of people did not like the X-33 when Omega first put it out due to the price and the watch is digital. It is one of my favorite watches. I am also a James Bond fan, so when Omega released the first limited edition 40th anniversay James Bond watch I had to have one. It is a beautiful watch, but I don't ever wear it.
  5. My first handgun was a FNH Five Seven. I still have it.
  6. Personally, I wouldn't waste your money. Yes, the Ruger Mark IIIs are a pain to field strip at first, but once you get the hang of it, they are incredibly easy. I would spend the money on 500 rounds of 22lr before I would buy the kit.
  7. Very nice. Congrats.
  8. Yes. I don't mean this condescendingly, but it is simple as increasing your caloric intake. I have never done P-90X, but I go to the gym about everyday. When I am wanting to increase my body weight up, I start boosting up the calories especially supplementing my diet with protein shakes. I prefer Muscle Milk. High protein and plenty of calories per serviing. One of the reasons P-90X is so successfull is that it shocks the hell out of most people's system. It would not be nearly as effective for someone already in really good shape.
  9. Well, I'm lowly #8223. But just to let you know, that is an important number. To what, I have no idea. I just know it is important.
  10. Well, as long as the weather holds, which it looks good so far, I will be there. This will be my first time going to PC, so I hope it isn't too hard to find.
  11. Yes, it is all one piece. No attachments, except the screw-on cap.
  12. I don't think I could break this knife if I tried. I don't know how familiar you are with Chris Reeve's hollow handle fixed blades. His knives are made from one piece of A2 steel.
  13. And to all those who say Glocks do not fail. Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness, I have never used those mags, so I can't really comment on their effectiveness or reliability. Based upon your video, it seemed like it was rather frustrating.

    Tipping.

Are you a big tipper or so tight that once someone has taken a dollar from your hand they are only receive a blank piece of paper and you are left with a hand covered in green dye? I went by Autozone this evening to get a battery for my car. I know Autozone as with other places will put in the battery free of charge. The guy who sold me the battery also put it for me since I did not have any tools with me. I tipped him $10 for 5 minutes of work. I thought that was pretty good, but I have to hear all about tipping too much when I get home. Maybe it is just me, but I feel sort of cheap if I give someone a dollar or so tip for doing something for me. I have often got dirty scowls from lunch companions for leaving a $5 tip on a $10-15 lunch when they leave like $0.50. I remember when I took my brother to play at Caledonia in Mrytle Beach, Fish Club. Nice course to play if you are ever in the area on vacation. At the end of the round, a caddy removed my clubs from the cart and start to scrub them clean. He then carried the clubs to my car. I gave him a $20 tip. The two things I remember from the incident was the look from my brother like I was on drugs, and the caddy's response, "I like your style."
  15. That is a really neat holster. I haven't seen one like that before. The color of your gun made me think of Kermit singing, "Its not easy being green."
  16. Just out of curiosity, do you guys know what percentage of the members are from TN (active or not)?
  17. Is the show any good? I haven't seen the first episode. Sad to say that my TV show watching went away with the last episode of 24. I am now only left with Law and Order reruns.
  18. I don't really see what the problem is. Personally, the only item I have that has the word "tactical" on it is my range bag I bought from OpticsPlanet on closeout. I also own a balaclava, which is used for running when it is less than 30 F outside. Now, are there some who take the tactical thing a little too far? Sure. However, I won't berate them (I'm might snicker a little internally), because in the end, they are helping provide jobs with their purchase.
  19. I thought it was going to be really heavy too, but I was surprised at how light it was. The handle is hollow.
  20. I am thinking about buying one. I have a VFG on my ar. I don't really like it.
  21. I used to have a problem with shooting by just using my dominant eye and closing the other. That is how I started off shooting, and it felt, as you said, natural. I finally got to the point of teaching myself to shoot with both eyes open. After several thousands of rounds of shooting with both eyes open, I finally got the hang of it. Now, it isn't really an issue. In regards to point vs. sight shooting, I am pretty much a sight guy. I have shot so much using sights, that is incredibly difficult for me to not use them. I have improved some that I can use the front sight only while ignoring the rear, but I still can't point shoot worth a crap. It is something I never practice.
  22. As some of you know, I have been shopping around for a new fixed blade. I had been looking at the Chris Reeve Shadow series and the Microtech ADO. To find one at a decent price has been somewhat difficult since they have been discontinued. I have ran into a lot of price gouging on the CR knives. The worst offense that I ran across was someone asking $550 for a Shadow III. Anyway, I found a new Shadow IV for a fair price, so I bought it. I received it in the mail today, so here it is. I am very pleased with the quality of this knife. It is fantastic. I will definitely buy a Shadow III when I find one for a decent price.
  23. Well, there is an upside to all of this crap. My use of smokeless tobacco has been pretty much nonexistent. I tried a pinch a few minutes ago. That was a big mistake as I spent the next 10 minutes or so paying homage to the porcelain god. I guess there is no better time than the present to just quit it altogether.
  24. Looks pretty good to me.
  25. I have only taken a flu shot twice in my adult life. I am hardly ever sick and never go to the doctor. However, I wish I would have taken one late last year. Over the past five days I have felt like total s**t, which prompted a doctor visit last Friday. Would the flu shot have helped? I don't know, but it certainly couldn't have hurt. Anyone here take a yearly shot?
