  1. I think Megadeth stayed much more consistent to their roots than Metallica. I still listen to both bands a lot, but only thing I listen to from Metallica is all pre-Load stuff.
  2. I am staying in for the time being. By boss will matches up to 4% of my income, and I have a pretty good tax savings by contributing the maximum allowable amount on my 401-K.
  3. This really isn't a shocker.

    Shooting tips?

I am also wondering if there is a sight alignment problem. I don't know what size target he is shooting at. If it is a standard range target, that would have to be a hellacious flinch to miss while slow firing at 5 yards.
  5. My rep voted no. I emailed him last week telling him about an online poll for TN residents I created which was showing that ~ 65% of those voting did not want a debt ceiling increase. I then, using all of the eloquence and logic I could muster (which isn't much), tried to explain to him why I was against the debt ceiling increase. Hopefully what I wrote made him think a little bit.

    Shooting tips?

First off, how far are you trying to shoot?
  7. This is a neat little video that was the winner of the Power Line Blog prize. The Winner of the Power Line Prize Is… | Power Line
  8. That's a good reason.
  9. He didn't list any Sigs. Uploaded with ImageShack.us This is a Sig X5 L1. It is every bit as accurate as the high end 1911s, and has an incredibly light adjustable trigger. It also holds nineteen 9mm "sissy" rounds. The downside is it is incredbly heavy.
  10. Garufa recommended One Second After to me. It was an excellent book. Very scary. I don't mean to crap on the thread, but since there are like 50 threads on this book, I wanted to make a recommendation on an entirely different subject. Try Vince Flynn's Term Limits. It was written 13 years ago, but you would think it was talking about today. For those that have read it or know the synopsis, I am in no way whatsoever suggesting that type of action is needed to correct the ills in Washington. The synopsis from Wikipedia states, "Three of Washington's most powerful politicians are executed. The assassins deliver an ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. Michael O'Rourke, a former U.S. Marine and now a congressman finds out who they are and why they do it." It is a great page turner. Best book I have read in a while.
  11. Has anyone been to this place? U.S. Shooting Academy It looks awesome, and they have some of the prices like you are talking about (even more).
  12. Got a question for you experienced bullseye shooters. How difficult should it be to accomplish what I am trying to do? One hundred rounds through the x-ring at 15 yards using iron sights. I can get fairly close (~85 - 90% at my best), but still not close enough. It is a fun exercise, but it gets a little frustrating at times. I clean mine around every 400 - 500 rounds.
  13. Rand Paul is one of the good ones. It is too bad we do not have more like him. I think all of these debt projections are mere fantasy. I believe they will be higher than what a lot of people are saying. I was just watching the House pass the bill. It is sickening. It is nothing more than a stroke fest.
  14. Much better. The green didn't do much for me.
  15. The price seems a little high to me. However, if it was really well-managed (meaning - keeping all of the douchebags out), then I could live with it. If not, then I would never join as a member.

I really like the military edition PVD Sharkhunter. I have been looking at several PVD watches for quite a while. I don't know what it is, but I really like the black finish.

I have pretty much written off this year and the next for anything meaningful to be done. I am interested as to whether the Tea Partiers can keep their fervor alive for another 15 - 16 months and vote more of the jerks out of office.
  18. You should. I have been there several times, and I think everyone should experience it once. There were two things I didn't really like about NYC. The last time I was there was for the 2006 US Open at Winged Foot, and I stayed with my brother who lives on Long Island. I did not like all of the commuting. It is very time consuming. If you are staying in the city however, then that really isn't an issue. The second thing I did not like is driving in the city. That absolutely sucked, mainly because I didn't know how to drive there. When I first started driving in the city, I drove as I do here, very courteously. That was a mistake. Finally after 20 minutes of people cutting me off etc... I started driving offensively. Sure I got a lot of horn honks and fingers, but I got to where I needed to go. Outside of those two issues, I found it to be a neat experience. As far as safety goes, I didn't feel unsafe at anytime I was in Manhatten or on Long Island. I don't think NYC is near as bad as what some think or say it is. A lot of people who talk about how dangerous it is have never been there. I would feel a lot safer in NYC than I would in several areas in TN. If you do get to go, I would definitely recommend taking cabs. Depending on your driver, they can definitely be an exhilarating experience. The cabbie I got on several occasions would have been the Pakistani equivalent of Jeff Gordon.
  19. I have been looking for another non-Glock plastic gun. I was wondering how it compared to the HK P30 ( I noticed you had one for sale). I have been contemplating on a P30 V1 for quite some time. I would like to know your thoughts on it versus the XDM.
  20. +1 Not everybody has good taste.

I doubt SS will even exist when I retire. It is one of the reasons I max out the contribution to my 401-K every year.
  23. You are absolutley correct. That is the correct procedure for enacting a new amendment (21st repealed the 18th). That was sort of the point I was unsuccessfully trying to make earlier. The repealing of the 16th is separate legislation from the Fair Tax Act. The reason I stated to Patriot that I that would support such legislation only if the 16th was repealed is I have heard from so many over the last couple of years talk about a national sales tax without mentioning the repeal of the 16th. (putting on my cynical hat) With the way the government operates, if one happened without the other, we would end up with both. As far as the Fair Tax "plan" goes, I have no idea what that is. I know who Boortz is, but I have never listened to his show. I will look it up today and see what he has to say about it. Additionally, I actually need to read the legislation that was proposed to see if I would really want it. What they have written and what is in my mind might be two totally different things.
  24. I could be mistaken but, I have always understood that the Fair Tax Act does not repeal the 16th, it is only through seperate legislation in which the repeal will be pursued. If it isn't repealed within a certain time frame then the act was supposed to eliminate the national sales tax it created. While I haven't read the legislation, it seems to me that it would make more sense that the Fair Tax Act would only be implemented (assuming it was signed into law) after the repeal has occured.
