  1. Thanks. I will probably preorder my 0561 through them. Willis68 has me tempted on the 0777. I need to stay off this thread and quit looking at it.
  2. Yes, but the issue was not with copying the design. There have been a lot of manufacturers copy CR's one-piece design. I don't really have a problem with that. The problem I had, and it appears others did too, was the knives being sold had the CR logo stamped on the blades. While this seller was at least honest stating his knives were replicas, not all sellers would do that. I wouldn't want to see someone get ripped off thinking they are buying something they are not. The knives that were being sold were a lot cheaper than the CR knives ($120 - 220 vs. $300 - 500 and up), but they were a lot more expensive than the Schrade Extreme Survival Series (around $50).
  3. I can't imagine how someone could do such a thing. It scares you to think that there are people out in our society that are capable of such evil.
  4. Good deal on Florida's part.
  5. I guess somebody else saw it too. The listings have been altered by removing the CR logo on the blades.
  6. I never would have believed there were so many that will vote for Paul here. Paul gets my primary vote. Hopefully he will win the nomination. If not, I will be voting for whichever republican wins regardless how I feel about them.
  7. Okay. I emailed him the links. I will give the person a little bit of credit for being honest by not trying to pass them off as genuine. They stated the knives were replicas.
  8. Good article. Thanks for posting.
  9. As some of you know, I really like the Chris Reeve, and have several, one-piece designed knives. As I was looking around ebay this evening I noticed something I had never seen before. I saw some black CR one-piece knives at ridiculously low prices. They were shipping out of China, and the appearance were dead giveaways that they were fake. Copying a design is one thing, but using the CR logo and stamping "made-in-usa" on the copy is something else. I have seen copies of knives before, but not where they are also copying the manufacturer's name on it. Is this something new?
  10. Anybody want to recommend a good online knife dealer? I have looked at BladeHQ several times in the past, but have never dealt with them.
  11. It is a great knife, but I will probably get the ZT0561 instead.
  12. Four years ago I used to be one of those who bought into the whole "bomb the out of brown people" mentality. (George Carlin reference) I used to say, "Yeah, I like Paul, but he is crazy on foreign policy. Therefore, I can never support him." From that point until now, I have done a lot of reading and most importantly, I started thinking for myself. I came to the realization that I had been duped. I realized that my fears had been preyed upon by those who seek perpetual war. It often makes me think of the line, "Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia." I remember when people were talking about how bad it is going to be when North Korea gets a nuclear bomb. A lot of people said that NK is going to sell a bomb to Iran or some other terrorist organization and they are going to bring it here and wipe out one of our cities; we need to strike them now. Well... that was several years ago and what has happened? Not much, and we still aren't allies with NK. What about Pakistan? They already have nuclear weapons, and they certainly aren't our allies as evidenced by harboring OBL. If we take away that billion plus in yearly foreign aid to them, what happens then? Should we go ahead and do a regime change and remove the weapons they have? If we do that, will India then make a move on Kashmir? Do we intervene? Now the discussion of a nuclear Iran has been brought back to the forefront. We now hear that if Iran gets a nuclear bomb they might not be able to hit us, but they can and will hit Israel. Even though Mahmoud is doing a bunch of sabre rattling, there is no way they are that stupid to engage in a nuclear conflict with Israel. This would be a classic case of M.A.D. For arguments sake, lets say they did manage to wipe out Israel first with multiple nuclear weapons. They know that there would be such an outcry in this country that we would retaliate and wipe them off the map. The second reason they wouldn't try to wipe out Israel with nuclear weapons is because of what sits in the Old City of Jerusalem, the Al Aqsa Mosque. If the third holiest site in Islam got destroyed, there would be an absolute s**t storm. Sunnis, the largest branch in Islam, would go absolutely bat**** crazy. As I stated in a previous post, isolationism and non-interventionism are not the same things. What have we gained from the nation-building interventionist policies of Bush, whom I voted for twice? We don't have peace in the region. We haven't gained any allies. We have some psuedo-allies only because we give them a bunch of money we don't have. How many triilions have we spent, and most importantly, how many lives of our servicemen and women have we lost? For what, national security? I used to believe that with absolute conviction, but not any more.
  13. Paul "can" be elected, but only if you vote for him. People have to stop accepting all of the crap being epoused from the pseudo-intellectual big government conservative commentators and pundits. They use words like isolationist, which most people don't even know the meaning, to characterize Paul's foreign policy, which is total b.s. A more appropriate description of Paul would be non-interventionist. Isolationist and non-interventionist are not the same thing. Another problem I have with the so-called conservative media is they deify Reagan, but yet, they break Reagan's 11th commandment, "Thou shall not speak ill of any fellow Republican." When the conservative talking heads label Paul as a nut, kook, wacko, isolationist, etc..., doesn't that just reek of hypocrisy?
  14. This was one of the most depressing birthdays I have had. I was talking to some people at work today about who they are going to support now that Pawlenty has exited the race. Everyone of them said that they are now supporting Perry. Out of curiosity, I asked them what they liked about him, and how did they feel about his policies. None of them could tell me anything about him, outside of being the Governor of Texas, nor could they tell anything about his stance on key issues. The best I got was they had seen him on tv or heard some commentator talk about him. To make matters worse, I spoke to some old friends this evening via a chatroom, and they are all on the Perry bandwagon. The way they talk about him and defend him you would think it was the advent of the Messiah. The sad thing was everything that was being discussed about Perry were not on substantive issues. When I was listening to people talk about him, the only thing that came to mind was the zombie-speak "Brrrrrrrrains." It was really depressing to see so many people become enraptured over a candidate because he held a prayer breakfast or saw a positive review from a media personality. It seems that it is almost too much trouble for some people to think own their own and do a little bit a research on a candidate before making a decision.
  15. I could be way off base here, but I don't see how it is possible to fail the shooting portion of the permit class. When I took my class a couple a years ago, I had never fired a handgun and I received 100%. It was a joke. Does anyone know of a person that has failed the shooting portion?
  16. I think the following two videos sum it up nicely. Warning! Bad Language in the first clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXRjmyJFzrU The above clips are from Mike Judge's Idiocracy.
  17. +1 My guess would be around $100.
  18. I am right there with you. I snookered myself in 2008 to vote for Romney in the primary because Thompson dropped out. Never again. Paul is my guy. I could vote for Bachmann if Paul exits the race, but after Bachmann, I think rest of them suck. On other threads there is talk about Perry. OhShoot claims that he hears GW when listens to Perry. I am not surprised by this since they are pretty much cut from the same cloth. I am afraid, however, that a lot of Christians will be deluded by his religious rhetoric and will not look into his record. The last time I checked, 47% of those that label themselves Tea Partiers also label themselves as Christian/evangelical. That makes me nervous. I wish people would do their homework. Perry sucks. As far as the Texas economy goes, all one has to do is look at the industries in Texas and see why they did not suffer like most other states. Lets see, the major industries in Texas are energy, argiculture, healthcare, computer technology, exports, defense, etc... All of those industries are basic, meaning we have to have them, so they weren't really affected by the downturn in the economy. It had nothing to do with Perry. Some of you do realize that Perry was Al Gore's Texas Campaign Manager in 1988, right?

    Revolver to Auto

I can't really comment since I have never shot a revolver. I hope to one day. Regardless, this has been an enjoyable thread thus far. Plenty of .
  20. I don't understand why you guys get so frustrated with Republican candidates talking about their religion. Would it not be foolish for a candidate that calls himself as a Christian not to identify himself as such considering the very large percentage of Christians and evangelicals within the party? They are appealing to their base. In regards to the sincerity of the candidate, that can be easily researched. As a side note, I used the term Christian because that is what the argument is about. A lot of people use the generic term religion, but in reality they are talking about Christianity whether they will admit it or not. As far as focusing on the hot button issues such as abortion, gay marriage, etc..., why blame the candidate? If you are looking for someone to blame, the blame lies with the media. They are the ones that are setting the narrative. During these debates, is it not the media that decides which questions will be asked? It is the media that keeps bringing up these hot button topics primarily to try to characterize as candidate, oftentimes, in an unfavorable light. Personally, I do not mind when a candidate identifies himself as a Christian. It lets me know a little bit about them. Now, if they try and out-God other candidates as Huckabee did in 2008, then they become anathema to me. I have somewhat of an aversion towards zealotry mainly because I more than likely will not accept all of the tenets of their doctrinal belief, nor will I share their worldview, and they tend to be a bit pushy. I do not want to establish a theocracy in this country. On the other hand, I do not want a completely secularized nation either. I believe both are equally dangerous.
  21. I don't think it would be unusual for one to get inside of a mailbox. I saw quite a few of them when I opened the cover on our water main. I still don't know how they got in there. The spiders I don't like even though they are harmless are those big black and yellow garden spiders. They just look menacing.
  22. Well, it looks like Pawlenty is out. I am pretty sure Gingrich, McCotter, Huntsman, Santorum, and Cain will drop out pretty soon as well.
  23. Oh, I know. I just like seeing Paul doing well even though the media does their best in marginalizing him.
  24. Nice. I have two of them myself.

    Kimber

I have no idea what their quality used to be like, but I had two recently manufactured Kimbers, a Tactical II HD and an Ultra Raptor II. Both were fine guns, and I didn't have any problems with them. However, I don't like the alloy frame on Kimber's Ultra series (just personal preference).
