  1. Not exactly my taste, but for $12, I think you did just fine. You shouldn't have any problem making a little money off of it.
  2. Nice review. I have just one point of disagreement with you and others. I carry the 0300 everyday, and while it is heavier than a lot of your typical folding knives (233.12 grams) and is bit larger, it can be used as an EDC quite comfortably. I have carried one for so long that I don't even realize I have it until I need it. I liken this disagreement to a lot of people's issues with government model 1911s. A lot of people do not want to carry a full size 1911 because they say the government 1911s are too big or too heavy. Yet, there are a lot of people that do carry them, me included. I do not want to dissuade anyone from buying a fantastic knife because it is perceived as too heavy or too large. Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference. I do not like very light knives, guns, or watches. As a final note, there is one other nice thing about the slightly larger size and weight of the 0300. You can smash the hell out of someone's face with it without worrying about the knife falling apart on you.
  3. Take my advice lostpass. Do not listen to the two "Subject Matter Experts" in this section. They will have you emptying your bank account before long.
  4. Congratulations. I hope you enjoy it.
  5. I think you are absolutely correct. During the 2008 elections, there is no way I would have voted for Ron Paul. I thought he was a kook on foreign policy. Over the last couple of years, I have been slowly disengaging myself from the tv news media and started studying a little bit of our history, especially our founding. What I have come to realize is that Paul is not a kook, but it was my thinking and understanding that were flawed. This whole financial mess has me worried, and it seems to me that there is only one candidate out there who is trying to be honest with how bad things are and how bad they can possibly become. That candidate is Dr. Paul. All I hear from other candidates, including Cain, is how they are going to fix government. They are going to make government work by such and such a plan. What they fail to realize is it is the overly large federal government that has created most of the problems (including foreign issues). Cutting a failed program and replacing it with another program isn't going to solve the problem; the government will stay the same size. The only way to fix it is by cutting and making it smaller. There is only one candidate (outside of Johnson) advocated such a position. I don't think Paul will get the nomination, but he will be getting my vote. I am glad he decided to run again. Hopefully, his message will wake some people up as it has done me.
  6. Very beautiful. Man, I tell ya Steve, you get to go to some of the coolest places.
  7. I hope you are correct. That is what I am waiting on. I have yet to buy my first home, and I am sitting on a lot of cash. I am a little bit leery of jumping into the housing market right now because so many people are saying this is the best time to buy. I heard that same thing several years ago during the bubble period. Everyone was telling me to buy a house due to the low interest rates. They told me I had to jump in quick because of the exponentially increasing property values. My response then was houses were overvalued and they will eventually bust. I was told that I was nuts because housing prices never go down. Well... everyone knows how that turned out. Now, it seems like I am hearing the same thing. Housing prices and interest rates are low, you have got to buy in now. I know very little about real estate, but it seems to me that housing prices haven't been allowed to fully correct. I could be wrong, but I think there has been a lot of propping-up and manipulation of the housing market by the federal government. The economy isn't improving, employment sucks, and when the government manipulation (subsidies, tax credits, mortgage relief, etc...) ends, I can only see one way for housing prices to go, down. As I said, I know very little about real estate, and perhaps I am missing a wonderful buying opportunity, but I have such an aversion towards herd mentality. I really don't know what to do. Anybody have any comments regarding financing a house versus buying it out right?
  8. Yes, I have seen that too. There is one major difference. Ron Paul would be saying that if Bush was president. I haven't seen any of the typical republican vs. democrat political posturing that we frequently encounter on so many issues.
  9. I don't think there is. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of republicans were supportive of the administrations actions. As you should know there are very few constitutionalists in Washington (one of the reasons we have so many problems).

    New 1911!

    Very nice sir. Congratulations.
  11. If you have never shot a FNP-45 and would like to shoot one, let me know. I still have mine that I was planning on selling.
  12. No, just anti-government radicals who are susceptible to being indoctrinated by some right-wing militia or terrorist group, especially if they are younger. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
  13. If you don't mind spending a little bit of money, I would recommend a Chris Reeve Nyala. It isn't overly expensive ($200 - 230, or less if you pick up a good used one), and you will definitely have a top quality knife. It has similiar in dimensions to the Boker Elegance Bob. Since I didn't want to steal someone else's picture. I will just post a link that has a good photo. Chris Reeve Knives - NYALA
  14. I think you will really like that ZT 0300. It is what I carry everyday. It is a fantastic knife.
  15. I don't believe you. Seriously though, when you get the Yuna, you will definitely have to post pics. It sounds like it is going to be pretty bad@$$.

    Aging Steel

What is mercuric acid? I have never heard of it. I tried a google search and couldn't find an answer. I am wondering if people mean muriatic (hydrochloric) acid.
  17. Yeah, I think he is going to have to buy a couple of new safes, just for his knives.
  18. How do you like your WEPS? I have been looking at those, but before I spend the money (kinda pricey) I wanted to hear what people thought about them. My ZT300 is in definite need of sharpening.
  19. I ran across their knives a few months ago. They are nice. Congrats.
  20. The "enter" key is your friend. It gets hard to read a bunch of text without any breaks. In some of your earlier posts, you mentioned tin foil hattery. Maybe my reading comprehension isn't all that good because I haven't read anything that comes even close to conspiracy theory lunacy. Therefore, please refrain from lumping us into the Alex Jones conspiracy club; it is not applicable. Let me see if I can make my position a little more coherent. My primary concern regarding the administration's decision in taking out Awlaki (who was the primary target - he was added to the target list in 2010) is the blasé attitude of the american public (celebratory from some), and the media's silence. If this would have happened during Bush's tenure, there would have been a national outcry from the left and the media. Hell, I am almost certain there would have been calls for impeachment hearings. Under Obama's term, what do we have? Celebration and/or indiference from the populace and total silence from the media. In my mind, that is very disconcerting. Your argument of Awlaki being an enemy combatant on a foreign battlefield etc... is understood, and I am not necessarily in disagreement. However, Awlaki's citizenship status is still a sticking point. Do the people want to give the executive unquestionable authority to target and execute american citizens abroad who have either directly or indirectly sided with the enemy? I am not entirely against this notion, but this is a question that must be asked and answered. We must have a national dialogue on the matter. Simply giving the president or members of his administration carte blanche to target and eliminate ctizens falling in the above scenario is nonsensical. The administration is going to have to do better than say that they have all this evidence that such a citizen is a direct threat to national security. However, we can't show you the evidence because it is classified; just trust us. I believe Reagan said it best with, "Trust, but verify." Ultimately, this is a slipperly slope argument. Allowing the administration's (not just Obama's) powers to go unchecked sets a dangerous precedent. The term "mission creep" wasn't created out of thin air. Just to reiterate, I am not totally against giving the administration this authority. However, there are buch of questions that I would like answered.
  21. How does that actually work? The man was on a terrorist watchlist. Does he just walk into one of our embassies and say, "Pardon me sir, may I have the forms to renounce my citizenship?" Look, I am not broken up over this man's death. Ultimately, it is one or two less terrorists to worry about in the future. However, this entire situation does give me a moment of pause to reflect on whether I really want give a president the ability to target an american citizen overseas because some agency of the federal government has deemed them an enemy of the state. The federal government is already way too big and has too much power to begin with. When we do not question and blindly praise our government over circumstances such as these, we are essentially granting them even more power. Therefore, I cannot wholeheartedly embrace Obama's (assuming it was his) decision to take these people out. I would like to point out that when one questions or criticizes their government, it is not the same thing as criticizing one's country. Yes, those in the government are our representatives. However, the federal government doesn't always represent the desires and/or demands of it's citizenry, nor does it always work in the best interest of the nation. History is replete with examples demonstrating this. Ya know, about five years plus ago I would have been like many of you. I would have openly celebrated the demise of these people, and praised Obama on his decision. I would have basked in the "take that you sumb*tch" moment. I don't really know what has changed my way of thinking. I am still as conservative as I was 5- 10 years ago, but I now question a lot of what the federal government does and view it with skepticism.
  22. Nice looking 1911. Congrats.
  23. Yep, you are in the minority, but so am I. Some of the salesmen at work were laughing at me when I questioned the entire situation. I was likened to a terrorist sympathizer. What I find so strange is how so many people believe that our federal government is as pure as the driven snow and infallible. Defending this nation's honor and defending the actions (not just in this case) of our federal government are two entirely separate things.
  24. Aesthetics. Ever since I started lifting weights, which has been almost two decades now, I have always had a lean muscular physique. I still want the same thing except I want to add some more muscle.
  25. I was also skeptical. I was too polite to say anything last night when I was reading the thread. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. It's all for entertainment purposes anyway.
