  1. I have been to shows at Chilhowee several times. I didn't think anything of the area. I have been in much worse.
  2. I never cared for Cain. He is a great marketing guy, and has created some catchy slogans geared towards the masses. However, I saw through his psuedo-conservatism long ago. For the record, I couldn't care less about Cain's horn-dogedness; more power to him. However, I listened very carefully in the debate and interviews to some of his suggestions, and recognized some of them to be government solutions even when he was arguing the contrary. The last straw occured when Cain attacked Paul's fiscal issues. Attacking Paul's foreign policy is totally fair game. However, when a candidate, who is claiming to be conservative, attacks him on his fiscal policies you know something is just not right considering Paul has the best fiscal policies of all the candidates combined. In the end, his endorsement really does nothing for me, but to be fair, nobody's endorsement really means anything to me. I have a question, why are all of the celebricons, Palin, Cain, Thompson, Guiliani, etc... jumping on the Gingrich bandwagon? Is Santorum no longer in the race? Santorum is every bit as conservative, if not more so, as Newt (they are both big government conservatives), and he beat Newt in Iowa and New Hampshire. Santorum is way better than Newt on healthcare, and if social conservatism is your thing, Santorum blows Newt away. Yet, we keep hearing these calls for Santorum to drop out. Why should hell should he? He stands just as good a chance at beating Romney as Newt, and he beat the hell out of both of them in the last debate. We now have Thompson attacking Drudge by claiming he is in the pocket of Romney. Seriously, wtf? Something really stinks here. We have one group of Republicans fighting the other over two candidates that really aren't all that impressive. I am starting to believe that there isn't a whole lot of difference between these groups. I feel they are nothing more than different factions of the Republican establishment, but nonetheless, they are still establishment Republicans. I can say one thing about the presidential election, it has defintely increased my cynicism. I often get the feeling that we are getting duped into believing that we only have two viable options, Mitt or Newt, for the nomination. While I won't be voting for either in the primary, I would vote for Newt over Romney, but I would vote for Santorum over either of them.
  3. While Israel's airport security is better than our's, one must take into account the amount of traffic through Ben Gurion versus some of our metropolitian airports. It isn't even close. We could adopt security measures that closer resemble what the Israelis are doing, but we are going to have a different type of worker than what is employed by TSA, and we will need a lot of them.
  4. Have you ever tried Oh Yeah! bars? They are the bars I eat when trying to consume extra calories because they are loaded. Calories: 380 Carbs: 31 (They have a net carb count of 12g, and the remaining carbs have a lesser and minimal effect on blood sugar.) Protein: 26 Also, they are the best tasting bars I have ever tried, and I have tried a bunch of them over the years. I wouldn't eat these unless you are trying to gain weight or your burn a lot of calories a day. Everybody else should avoid them like the plague. I only mentioned these since you are trying to get your weight back up.
  5. Personally, I have no use for polls. I don't give a s*** what the rest of the voting public thinks about an issue or candidate. I will make up my own mind on an issue and leave it at that. However, polls, while not infallible, do show important trending patterns that are important to candidates, businesses, and the media. If they did not provide useful data, nobody would spend the money conducting them. In regards to the candidates and polling data, I believe it is too premature to make any claims on who would be the better candidate against Obama; too many assumptions are made. For example, current polling shows Romney either slightly beating or narrowly losing to Obama in the general. The failure of this poll is that it is based on the Romney of the primaries. We all know that Romney, regardless of what he says, is a liberal establishment-type Republican. Carefully examining his record clearly proves this to be the case. During the primaries, Mitt is portraying himself as a staunch conservative. Let me ask, does anyone honestly think that Mitt will run as a conservative in the general against Obama? Heck no he won't. He will transition so fast to a moderate, which is what he really is, that it will be the mother of all flip-flops. He will make the argument that he is moderating his position to appeal to other moderates and independents (seems like we have went through this not too long ago and it didn't work out so well). This is where the poll fails. The current poll is being based on the conservative speaking Romney not the moderate Romney. The downside to all of this is that there is a distinct possibility that such a transition from Romney will alienate conservative and semi-conservative voters, who don't like him anyway, and cause them to stay home. Nobody is talking about any of this and I think this is a very important point to consider when looking at Romney. I have said in the past that both Romney and Gingrich will have a very difficult time beating Obama, for different reasons of course. Santorum will have a difficult time as well since some of his views will no doubt be portrayed as extremist, which is anathema to moderates and independents. When I look at all of the flaws of the individual candidates, I honestly don't think one has a better shot than the other in regards to beating Obama. Therefore, the best thng I can tell people is choose the candidate you like, or the lesser of the evils, and fight like hell to help them defeat Obama in the general.
  6. I like Palin too, and if she wasn't married, I wouldn't mind socializing with her.
  7. Yep, I don't think Newt did all that well in this debate. I thought he got hit pretty hard by Romney and Santorum, and is caused him to stumble a little bit. I also thought he defense of colonizing the moon was very weak. Also, his attack on Romney's portfolio backfired big time. Newt was the big loser of this debate. In regards to Mitt, he did well attacking Newt. He was doing fantastic until he got absolutely hammered, and rightfully so, by Santorum on Romneycare. I was totally impressed with Santorum's ability to really stick it to Mitt. Mitt didn't not like it at all and actually got upset. Santorum did well as ususal, but he is just too interventionist for my taste. He did a great job pointing out how difficult it is going to be for either Gingrich or Romney to beat Obama. If Paul wasn't in the race I would probably vote for Santorum in the primary. I thought Paul was really good tonight. I am thankful that the moderator wasn't antagonistic with Paul on foreign policy. I know I am biased, but I think Paul won this debate followed close by Santorum. Paul was great on fiscal policy, healthcare, and came across with some great lines. Overall, I really enjoyed this debate, and I really have to hand it to CNN. The last couple of debates they have moderated have been really good, and have blown away Fox. The last Fox debate seemed to me to be a cross between the WWE and American Idol; it was a total joke.
  8. Yeah, I know they aren't meant to be used as the primary opening mechanism. I'm not saying the studs are bad in anyway, I was just making a comment on some of the Kershaw designs. Almost all of my ZTs have the same design. I like what they did with the Tyrade line. It shows what I am talking about. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/knives-bladed-tools/66176-couple-new-toys.html
  9. I have admitted that I will vote for whoever ends up the Republican nominee. What can I say? I'm too scared to stand by my principles. I'm not going to lie about it. Regardless, you bring up a point I would like to address. It absolutely kills me when I hear some make claims that those who vote third party don't care about their country and such. Personally, I think it is the exact opposite. If anyone is to blame for allowing the greater of evils to be elected, it is the very ones who voted for them. I find it very disheartening that people don't understand that, and instead try to lay blame on those who stood by their principles. Ohshoot, so you are now hoping for a brokered convention? I am as well. I stated last week that I would like to see one with someone like DeMint selected to run on the GOP ticket. I have noticed the past couple of days that there is increasing chatter among various individuals wishing for such a scenario. I think the chances of it actually happening is slim to none.
  10. Nice one. I have often wondered why Kershaw even bothered putting thumb studs on some of their knives. They are almost impossible to use, at least to me.
  11. (sigh) There is another debate on CNN tonight. Anyone want to wager on how many times Newt uses the word "fundamental" or "fundamentally?"
  12. I am often amazed at how good these guys are at what they do.
  13. I'm with ya 100% on that one. Glock is a fantastic gun, but just doesn't feel right in my hands. I still have a G26, but I will probably sell it sometime in the future since I never use it.
  14. Very nice sir. I do not have that one. I will buy one if I can ever get one for a steal, but as of right now I'm holding off. I have five different 0350s, and I don't carry any of them. If you like to be a little different on the 0350, you could also look at some of the composite blades. They have the original CB, which was made with Elmax and the newer one with ZDP. They also have some sprint run satin finish models made for Knife Works, the KW series. Both the CB and KW are a little hard to find, but they pop up from time to time.
  15. I wouldn't bet against you. I'm not feeling sorry either. Actually, I am glad it happened to him. Perhaps some of the other members can get their head out of their butt long enough to do something about all this crap.
  16. One thing I did notice several times was a foreshadowing of his intention of campaigning against the congress. It will be interesting to see how successfull he is with that strategy. One other thing I found interesting was when he said that he will continue to do things, under the guise of fixing the economy, with or without congress. His hubris is appalling. To some of you older members, was the arrogance and power hungry nature of the Nixon administration anything like what it is currently? Obama comes across to me as a very dangerous demagogue.
  17. Yes, I know BHO is still speaking as I created this thread. I was just curious if anybody watched or listened to his speech. I am halfway watching it. Makes me want to vomit.
  18. I am gonna report you to Al Gore, you rotten ecoterrorist.
  19. I don't really know. I think it would be easier and safer to just emulsify out the oil, whether it was in plastic or steel. I say safer because heating to decomposition, which fire will do, certain chemicals can give off some stuff you don't really want to inhale. Personally, I wouldn't try burning of the chemical, even if it is something like a petroleum oil.
  20. If you can buy a new 55 gallon drum for $30, then I would jump all over that. I am going to relay the information to our purchasing agent and have him check prices tomorrow. That seems awfully cheap, but it could be a totally different type of drum. It will be good to check anyway. Thanks for posting. To give you an idea on what we pay, buying full truckloads of reconditioned OTP 55 gallon drums is around the mid $20s. New OTP are around the mid $30s.
  21. I can tell you what I would do. In the interest of disclosure, I have worked as a chemist for around 15 years and I have a lot of experience with a very large number of chemicals, so my perspective might be a little different from everybody else's. Are the drums open top or closed top? If they are closed top, I wouldn't fool with them. They are too hard to clean. If it is open top, I would check the MSDS to see what type of hydraulic fluid you are dealing with. A lot of them are based on heavy paraffinc petroleum oils, which have a very low toxicity. If it is a hydrocarbon fluid, you may have some difficulty cleaning out the oil since it is insoluble. The oil will have to be emulsified. You could try using something like dishwashing detergent with a lot of hand scrubbing and multiple cleanings and rinses. Other types of hydraulic fluid I have seen contain glycols, such as diethylene glycol. DEG is a lot more toxic to various organs than the heavy petroleum oils, but it is miscible with water so cleaning wouldn't be as difficult. However, you would want to make sure it was very clean. You don't want to ingest any large amount of certain glycols. Assuming the drums were open top plastic, I wouldn't have any concerns cleaning the drum. However, if someone doesn't share the same level of comfort as I do, then by all means do not use them. You should always err on the side of caution. If it is the latter, then buy a new one or at least a good reconditioned drum, which is a lot cheaper. Note: it would still be a good idea to really clean a reconditioned drum.
  22. Wow. Just wow. For someone who is so concerned about electability of a candidate, your insults (guilt by association) are making a good case that Paul is the more electable of the candidates since he has been able to attract people from across the aisle. Isn't it amazing how the concept of personal liberty and freedom seem to resonate across a broad spectrum of the voting public? Good job buddy. Keep 'em coming.
  23. He will. I have watched several senatorial inquiries and he has made Pistole look like an a$$ on several occasions.
  24. Personally, I don't know why so many people get riled-up about Alex Jones. I do not like him and disagree with him on most issues, but he really doesn't affect me because I just won't listen to him.
  25. Yep, they got it right.
