Yep, your right on that one. I have read the first three books, and the sex is way more graphic than what is on the show. I watched the entire first season. While not quite as good as HBO's "John Adams" miniseries, it was very good.

How to spin my stuff. Obama instructs reporters
mav replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
While I could never stand Obama, I can't even read anything he says without becoming slightly nauseated. I swear he has become nothing more than a s**t stain on the fabric of society. -
I also agree that a good trigger is the primary reason I am more accurate with a 1911 than most other platforms. However, I had a modified G34 with a Vanek grandmaster trigger and I was every bit as accurate with it, at 10 yards or less, as I was with any of my 1911s. It had a 2lb trigger pull. Just to note, I am just as accurate with my Sig X5 L1, but it is also a single action trigger with around a 3 lb. pull. The gun I am most accurate with, outside of 22s, is my NHC 2011 in 9mm. Great trigger pull and 9mm = great accuracy.

I haven't followed this story all that much. However, I would not support a trial primarily because it is the exact opposite of what those race-baiting poverty pimps Sharpton and Jackson are demanding. They are very much like Joe Biden. If you find out what side of an issue he is on and you take the exact opposite, then you will have made the correct choice.

I have always wondered about the difference between the legality of AO and autos. My understanding is that most AO are legal because the opening mechanism (flipper) is actually part of the blade. Is this correct?

Ooooh, nice one. I own several Wilsons and NHCs, but I have yet to shoot a EB. Everyone I know who owns one loves them. I may have to pick one up someday.

Obama Executive Order: Peacetime Martial Law!
mav replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Ed Morrissey, over at http://hotair.com has a good analysis on the EO. http://hotair.com/archives/2012/03/18/national-defense-resources-preparedness-executive-order-power-grab-or-update/ -
You're 2 for 2 on this thread. I think everyone pretty much knows there is no way Paul will get the presidency. The only people that think otherwise, just aren't thinking things through clearly. I held the hope, even though I knew it was a longshot, that Paul would get the nomination. It is obvious that he will not, and while I do not like any of the other candidates, I will be voting for the GOP nominee. I hope it is Romney as I do not like the other two choices for various reasons that are not applicable to this thread. The question now is who are the Paul supporters going to get behind. I am certain that some (a small minority) won't vote, will vote for Johnson, or may write in Paul's name. In order to defeat Obama, the GOP will need the majority of the Paul voters. Some members of the forum (not you) and certain radio talk show hosts think that crass comments and condescension of Paul and Paul supporters is the way to go. Personally, I think this is incredibly foolish and really shows a lack of character. Many of Paul's supporters are impressionable college age adults who realize that they have been given a raw deal. It is they who are going to be left with this crushing debt with no possible way of paying it back. If Romney or any other the other candidates are smart, they will appeal to those supporters, and perhaps adopt some of Paul's fiscal policies, since that was his primary platform. The last thing any of us who want Obama out of office should want is to belittle them, and heaven forbid, they turn against the GOP and work against them. Jack Welch, former CEO of GE, and his wife spoke about this very issue many months ago. While Jack and his wife are Romney supporters, all of their kids fervently support Paul, so he has a understanding on the possible ramifications of alienating, diminishing, or mocking Paul's supporters. I was and still am a proud Paul supporter. Even though he cannot win the nomination, I think he should stay in the race until the convention primarily to continue spreading his message of fiscal sanity around all of the states. My hope that is more people will wake up to the danger we are facing unless the spending is stopped. We have already surpassed the 100% debt to GDP mark, and it is only going to increase. While I am not ready to write us off yet, the outlook is becoming bleaker.

Liquor Bartering? What Liquors Age Well?
mav replied to xRUSTYx's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Lester, if you are looking for accuracy, get some volumetric pipettes. You can get them on ebay, and they will be more accurate than a graduated cylinder and a heck of a lot cheaper. On the OJ question, I have no idea. My initial thought would be the ethanol is destabilizing the dispersion in the orange juice, but since both samples contain the same amount of ethanol, that doesn't really make sense. Hmmm, I will just leave it at I have no idea. -

Lester, your calculations look fine, and it doesn't take much mixing to mix ethanol and water since they are totally miscible. However, I don't know how accurate your measuring apparatus is. I have never seen any household items that measure in 0.1 ml increments. I would say the taste or alcoholic feeling of the vodka vs. the dilute pga has to due with how it was distilled or any additives put in either product. Just don't try any methanol in your experimentation. -
I have Flynn's new book, Killshot, in my bedroom. I bought it when it first came out, but I have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to read it. Yes, Term Limits and Memorial Day are two of his best. I am rereading Term Limits right now. It is just as good the second time. I think that there a bunch of people on this forum that would love Flynn's Term Limits.

I used to get really upset about all of this stuff, but I have gotten to the point that I don't let it bother me anymore. Seriously, why get stressed over it? I can vote for elected officials who share my beliefs and values. I can write or call my representatives and voice my concerns, and that is pretty much it. One day all of this is going to end. We are broke, and the tab keeps increasing at a rate of almost a trillion a year. Eventually the government will have no choice but to cut off or massively scale back the entitlements. People will have to rely on private charities or fend for themselves because you can take 100% of the so-called "rich" people's money and it still won't fix the problem.

I don't know if they would last forever, but it would be a pretty long time. Think about how long people keep rubbing alcohol, and that is 70% isopropanol. While BHA is soluble in ethanol, I personally wouldn't be terribly concerned about it. The use level for most antioxidants is very small, and I believe you would have took take in copious amounts of BHA before worrying about the suspected or anticpated carciongenic effects. I think you are correct that the bottles are made of polyester. They do have some that are made from high density polyethylene as well. The bottled water I have has a bottle code for polyester, and the bottle of IPA I have has a bottle code for HDPE. -
Question. Has anybody got a 560/561 yet? I have both of them on preorder, but they aren't available. I keep seeing them posted for sale, and they look awesome. I want to hold one of them and see if they are as good as they look.

I did have 5 ZT-0350s. Just recently, I gave away one of my KWs, and I am about to give away my regular 0350. Neither had been used. The 0350 is a great knife, but I prefer the 0300 much more. I am hard on knives that I carry and the 0300 always seemed more durable to me than the 0350.

If I am at work then I have my XM-24 in my pocket. If I need a projectile weapon, then I have a bottle of 93% sulfuric acid I can throw at someone. At home, I have my XM-24 and one of my 1911s on my computer desk.
-
That's good to hear. I see so many Hinderers that are safe queens. It is certainly understandable that a lot of people don't use their XM due to the cost, but man these knives beg to be carried and used hard. My 24 is on my pocket everyday, and I use it on pretty much everything. I was using the frame as a bung wrench today opening 55 gallon drums. That is one of the great things about the stonewash finish. You can use the hell out of it and it still looks great. I love my Sebenzas and Startacs, but not like my XM-24. I can't wait to see how the ZT-560/561 compares. Hopefully they will be fantastic so those who might not want to pay XM price can get something almost as good for a fraction of the cost.
-
Nice. I love that orange color. I take it you got those from Monkey Edge. I changed my 0551 to orange as well, but unfortunately it never gets used since I have the XM-24. I also changed my XM-24 to the textured carbon fiber with bronze stand-offs. As soon as Rick makes some more titanium scales for the XM-24, I will probably change my scale to either the bronzed titanium or stonewashed titanium. It is a little pricey at $200, but they are still cool as hell. Ever thought about changing the clip?

When Trekbike mentioned cycling I was thinking about a recumbent bike for someone with a back condition instead of the traditional upright bike. The bumps would still be intolerable, but it is like riding a bike while leaning back in a chair. I have seen some that look really cool and they look they would be a blast to ride.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Just my $0.02. I have never been a fan of diets so to speak. When most people go on diets and lose weight, they typically put it back on once they go off the diet. I have always thought the best way to lose or gain weight is through lifestyle changes instead of temporary diets. I am a big proponent of clean eating and daily exercise. While lifestyle changes always take longer, you end up feeling better and looking better, plus you have added benefit of improved health.

Yes, that is true statement. However, your reasoning represents what the problem is, government involvement into people's private lives. The government should have no business in family affairs, either pro or con. As far as his views being overblown by the MSM, I don't think that is the case. You can listen to Santorum's own words, and when he talks about everything he has done or tried to do legislatively (i.e. government force) in promoting his view, one can clearly sense that he is a big government guy, especially in the realm of social policy.
-
Yep. Unfortunately you can have a individual that will invoke God and/or lace their speeches with religiosity and a lot of church folk will flock towards that candidate without doing any additional investigation on the candidate, or thinking further about the possible ramifications in the future. I have said this before, I agree with Santorum's religious views from a personal perspective. However, I totally disagree that government should be involved in promoting those ideas, such as promotion of the family, etc... I also see this as being very dangerous. Even though my language sometimes suggests otherwise, I am a Christian (albeit an imperfect one). I am also a traditionalist, and I do not believe that the government promoting some of the values Santorum espouses has anything to do with our founding traditions. While it is certain that these values need to be protected from the extreme on the other side of the political aisle, they should be left to the individual, local communities, and religious institutions.
