What doesn't hurt, doesn't work.

It is interesting that you say that. I was talking to our accountant yesterday after showing him the now infamous "gonna start killing people" video. His response to me was that his appearance and words are what a lot of people are going to think about firearm owners, and it does not bode well for us. Honestly, I can't believe that people are thinking about how their reactions may be perceived. If they are, then they just don't care. I think people have just gone full blown retard.

Yeah, I know they were purely speculative questions. I should have worded it differently to reflect my intent. My intent was to pose these questions as something that should be pondered instead of something that should be answered directly. I asked the last question because we have heard a lot from the gov, media, and even the NRA regarding mental health issues and firearms. I am not saying James is nuts (I don't know the man), but what he said can lead people to believe that is the case. While most in the firearm community may know that the guy is an egotist who was venting frustration, albeit stupidly, others outside of the community may not see it that way. Regardless of the outcome, this entire episode is a great learning experience. Be careful what you say publically, especially at this moment in time, because nobody knows how it may be used against you in the future.

Question. Do you think he will get a visit from some government boys, or do you think they will just push it aside as some just a$$hole ranting on YouTube? Second question. If the government strengthens laws or establishes new laws regarding mental health/stability and the purchasing/owning of firearms, would he be able to do either considering his recent comments? Something to think about.

Guns and Freedom by Judge Andrew Napolitano
mav replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't think there was any sort of cabal against the Judge. As you pointed out, his ratings sucked. I just found it unfortunate because I enjoyed his show. I believe that the average person doesn't want to watch a news commentary program to learn something. They either want sexy info-babes flashing legs and cleavage, or they want political theater. IMHO, cable news has become nothing more than news entertainment. People watch O'Whiney, Hannity, Coulter, or Rick Maddow to see who they are going to hell at or just to listen to their vainglorious monlogues like they are some wellspring of wisdom. To heck with all of them. I get almost all of my news online anyway. -
Guns and Freedom by Judge Andrew Napolitano

Excellent article. Napolitano is one of the few good things about Fox. It is too bad his show didn't last, but I guess people prefer egotistical jerkweeds like Bill O'Whiney over someone who might actually teach them something. -
No, it would be a Prius.

Geeze Louise, that guy is a complete egomaniac. He knows he shouldn't have said what he said, but yet he refuses to retract the statement. He takes one step back and then moves three steps foward.

The video is still on YouTube. There are two versions available, the edited one and the killing people version. I have shown everyone at work today the video.. Every time I watch it, I can't help but laugh my butt off. Just one more inch. :) If the guy wasn't so opinionated and a blowhard, I would actually feel sorry for him for loosing complete control of his emotions.

I almost posted the review I did on the Model 41 and Mark III, then I reread the OP and saw the price range and realized that my post wouldn't be applicable; the Model 41 costs more than $300. However, you can get a Ruger at that price. I agree with Dolomite on a Ruger Mark II (III in my case) as being my choice for a single 22 pistol. I would seriously look at a Ruger, even the Mark IIIs, which some don't like. They are absolute tanks, and incredibly accurate. A lot of them can be set up to use a scope. If you ever decide you want to customize it, there are tons of aftermarket parts available for it.

Add another tennessean anti gun opinion piece
mav replied to 1pointofview's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The statement I loved the most. Well, no $hit. You can apply that same type of reasoning to anything, sheesh. Hell, let's ban motor vehicles from school grounds, because I am certain (even though it hasn't happened yet) that "somewhere, sometime," some bat$hit crazy person is going to mow down children with their car while they are at recess or trying to board a bus. -
It is too terrifying to even contemplate. All of us can talk tough at our computers by spouting unconstitutional, enumerated powers, molon labe, etc... If a situation like this were to ever occur it would get real in an instant. I know my first reaction would probably be to pi$$ my pants. I pray to God it never happens.

Thanks for posting Mr. OhShoot. I so much wanted to see it. I am not sure why, but I busted out laughing for several minutes, and this is not a laughing matter. I think I will just stick to my earlier comments of "Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy." You got to admire the man's passion though.

I am not a big fan of Alex Jones, and I did watch the interview he had with Piss Morgan. He was very animated and got a little off track with the drug stuff. However, I give kudos to Jones for taking a hardline stance on the issue. "You are not taking our guns. 1776 would happen all over again." (paraphrasing) Even with a lot of the conspiracy theory nuttery he often espouses, I will take a guy like Jones on my side any day of the week over some Caspar Milquetoast.

Ah. Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy. Yeah AR, for about the last year or so I pretty much quit watching tv. I probably watch about an hour a week now.

I was wondering what happened to it. I didn't get to see it. As far as the EO business goes, I'm not too worried about it. Right now I am ticked at the media. They are the ones driving all of this hysteria. I am almost to the point that I hate the media, and that includes Fox News, as much as I do politicians.

More power to your customer, but I don't care for that kind of crap especially in a frenzied market like we have now. That is crony capitalism .
-
That is 100% correct. As I have stated in other threads related to this topic, I might be a little irritated by it, but I can't really bad mouth it because I would be bad-mouthing capitalism. The auction format is the truest form of capitalism. In the auction you are getting "true" market worth at the time period. If a rifle normally sells for $1500, and people are now paying $3000 for it, then the rifle (at the time) is worth $3000. That said, I will not participate in the market at the current price level. First off, I do not think a ban will happen, and the prices will plummet well below normal selling prices, especially once the credit card bills become due. I will not sell in this market because as TGODavid mentioned, I could be wrong and not be able to replace what I have sold. I am going to gamble in the current market by believing nothing will happen. If I am right, I wil hit paydirt in the near future. If I am wrong, then I miss out on some stuff I wanted but not necessarily needed. I am sure I will have greater tragedies in the future. Either way, it has been a great learning lesson for me.

As far as spending too much and ignoring the Constitution, I believe that could be said of >80% of the house, and > 90% of the senate. Perhaps if we are all still around in 2014, we can begin the process for voting a lot of these douchebags out of office. My only hope, and it isn't much of one, is that people will start voting for the better candidate in the primaries instead of voting for the candidate who is perceived to have a better chance in the general. It seems to me that the use of the latter strategy hasn't been working out too well the last couple of elections. As I briefly discussed in the OP, I am tired of voting for an indivdual who sucks only slightly less than the other guy. In those cases, both candidates will lead us down the same path of ruination, only one will do it faster than the other. Does this mean that I will probably be voting for candidates who will lose? Probably, but I have taken comfort in the fact that if this country is going to go down, fiscally speaking, I will be satisfied knowing that I am not voting for the very ones who are causing it. Don't know how everyone else feels, but that is how I have felt for the last couple of years regarding this entire mess.

Man Steve, that is just plain wicked. Excellent choice on the scales and going with the type S too. Looks beefy, and I like it. Let us know how it turns out. I would love to get a type s assassin.

That sounds like me. ;) One of the classes I took from Randy was one of the rifle classes he offers. Since I have absolutely zero tactical gear, the first day of the class I was doing mag changes from my jeans pockets. I enjoyed the article. I did have a question on what is meant by drawing from deep cover. Due to the way my frame is put together, IWB (outside of appendix carry) just doesn't fit correctly on me. In the fall and winter I am wearing an owb over an oxford style shirt, and in the summer it is appendix carry over a polo.

That is the way it always goes. When a politician uses the phrase, "We have to protect the middle class." or some similiar phrase, that typically translates to "You might as well grab your ankles because I am about to screw ya."
-
You are now paying more taxes. I was just checking my bank account and noticed my employer deposited my check yesterday. I noticed that it was less than my previous checks, and here I thought the middle class wasn't supposed to effected ;) . Seriously, I knew it was coming since they didn't extend the reduced payroll tax. While the tax increase really doesn't hurt me, it is the principle that matters. It seems to me that if the government wants to force me to live on less money that perhaps they should do the same. If I have to cut, then they should have to cut. Ya know, last year was the first year I didn't vote straight line Republican. I voted pretty much all independent as sort of a protest vote. What Republicans have shown me recently is that I was right in doing so. If Republicans cave on gun control, immigration, global warming, or any other nonsense then I will be totally finished with the Republican party. If the country is going to crash, fiscally speaking, then I want no part of voting in the very a$$holes who are causing it.
