  1. Welcome. Be careful with handguns. They can be addictive, at least they were with me.

    In Remission!

That is wonderful news. Very uplifting. Thank you for sharing.
  3. It looks pretty good, but I doubt I will go to the movies and watch it. I don't go to the movies often. It has to be something I really want to see before I go. Last movie I saw at the theaters was Avatar. However, I will go see Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows at the theater (waits for the snickers). While nowhere near as good as the books, the movies are still great.
  4. oops, video didn't post. Denver News | Colorado News, Weather, Sports & Politics | FOX31 Denver, Colorado -- KDVR
  5. There is no need to go stalking around the wood hunting for rabbits. It appears that Denver's International Airport has plenty. Just out of curiosity, do any of you peope that live in the rural areas have problems like these?
  6. Funny you mentioned that. I have had food poisoning twice from oriental food. After the second time, I have abstained completely from oriental food. The last time I ate oriental food was 14 years ago. As far as Logan's goes, I don't think they are much different than other restaurants. However, I have only eaten at Logan's once. I didn't like their food.

    Online vs In Store

If they are the same price after fees, then I would buy local. I have bought several guns online (Bud's was one of them) and will continue to do so in the future if the deal is good enough. However, my preference is always local. Being on a first name basis with your gun dealer I think has it positives.
  8. Man Gets $650,000 After Eye Injury During Lap Dance | NBC Miami I feel sorry for the guy, but it sure is funny too. I wonder if the outcome on this lawsuit will lead to anything further. Due to the litigious climate in this country, I wouldn't be surprised if a patron brought a suit against one of the legal brothels in Pahrump, NV. "I only went in for a good time, and my partner got a little excited. Now I have chronic back problems." Don't know how you would explain that one to the wife.
  9. I bought a bunch of quality grippers when I was thinking about getting into rock climbing. I spent over a $100 and bought an entire set. I used them twice then threw them in a drawer. I don't think they have seen daylight for over 2 years. Upon reading your post, I decided to break them out and give it a go. The 100 is pretty easy. The 150 is tough but manageable. 200 is close, but nope. 250 and 300, please. I have read about some of you guys using them to help with their shooting. I might as well give them a try. Thanks for posting, I forgot I had them.
  10. Oh man, that is sweet. I had decided on a Scar, but after doing some research on what you posted, it is now a toss up. I just contacted my dealer and asked him to add a price quote on the LWRC as well. Thanks for posting the link to Gunslingers. I have been to his website several times. He has some fantastic stuff. However, we have a new gun shop in Chattanooga, Shooter's Depot, and I really like them. They have given me some really good deals in the past. They gave me a great price on the Springfield Professional. I want them to really succeed because we are really limited on gun stores in Chattanooga. I am trying to put all my purchases (outside of ammo) with them if their price is reasonable. I have to admit that I was torn between which dealer to work with on this decision. I like both Shooter's and Joe up at Hero-Gear. Joe sold me my T3. After much deliberation, Shooter's won out because of the local thing. However, if I decide I want the LWRC and Shooter's can't get it for me, then I will probably drive up to Winchester and have Joe order me one. Anyway, thanks again for the link. That is bad a$$. Once again, I would like to thank everyone who posted and offered some suggestions. You all gave me a lot to think about, and I appreciate it. I am still very new to firearms, and don't know my butt from a whole in the ground when it comes to them. Oh, by the way, I am not wealthy by any means. I have a decent paying job, I save a lot (or I did up to this last year), I'm not married, and I do not have any kids. I don't remember who it was that told me this, but I do remember it distinctly. "Eric, make sure you buy all your toys before you get married." Seemed like good advice to me.
  11. I remember playing Leisure Suit Larry on a Commodore 64 or an old Tandy. We had a blast thinking it was so cool that we could type in all those dirty words.
  12. Sounds like Carl. Carl is a really good guy. You just have to know how to take him. A lot of people don't, nor want to, which is understandable too. I can deal with and like all three of our local gun shop owners, but as stated earlier, Shooter's is my favorite.
  13. It depends on what type of shooting I am doing. If I am using my .22 and trying to be as accurate as possible at 15 yds, then I get pretty tired after 150 rounds or so. Slow firing with intense concentration will wear you out quickly. If I am doing sd type shooting involving holster drawing and rapid reload exercise, I can last a lot longer. I usually never go over a 300 round count per range session anyway.

    Medal of Honor?

Thanks for the comments. I have been contemplating on whether to buy MOH or not. I don't do online gaming either. Too addictive for me. I guess I will wait until next week when my Fallout New Vegas will be here. I will probably buy Gothic 4 as well, maybe Fable III. I did, however, get this really creepy game last week, Amnesia Dark Descent. Very intense moments. MOH didn't rate all that high on gamespot, but I will probably buy it anyway because one of the last games I played was Alpha Protocol. It had a very meager rating on gamespot, and I thought it was great.
  15. I forgot to mention that I already have a shotgun. I bought a couple of FNH SLP Mark 1 for me and my brother. Don't know how good they are since I have never shot it.
  16. I appreciate the comments folks. While I was driving home from work I was thinking about this topic. I came to the realization that I will probably need several rifles. One rifle that did everything probably wouldn't be all that outstanding in all the categories I mentioned. I also thought about ammo cost. 308 is a heck of a lot more that 223, so that eliminates a 308 as my first rifle since I came to the conclusion that I intend this rifle to be primarily for sporting purposes. Comparing it to handgun calibers, .45 is my favorite caliber, but also the most expensive and the least shot. So, I have it boiled down to a 223 as my first rifle. I have looked at a SCAR, which I think is pretty cool. Don't know much about them, except for the coolness factor. A dealer I know keeps telling me to get a POF. I looked at their website, but I am not all that familiar with them. Any comments? Very cool, thanks for the link. However, I think I would rather have a PS-90 SBR. I have almost bought one on several occasions. Thanks again for the comments. Thanks for the PM Warbird.
  17. Semi, for my first gun. On the latter question, that is my price ceiling for one gun.
  18. Uplifting video. Thanks for posting.
  19. Hey guys. I was wondering if you could offer some opinions and/or suggestions on a rifle. I just got into firearms in mid-2009. So far, the majority of my purchases have been handguns. Since July of 2009 I have purchased: FNP-9 FNP-45 FNH Five-Seven Kimber Tactical II HD Kimber Ultra Raptor II FNH SLP Mark 1 (x 2) H&K USP 40 Ruger Mark III Hunter Sig Sauer P226 X5 L1 Wilson CQB Nighthawk Custom T3 Glock 34 and a Springfield Profesisonal. It has been an enjoyable experience learning to shoot and improving my ability. It has also been incredibly expensive. When I first got into shooting I would read some article or hear from word of mouth about such and such gun being really good. Well, I would buy the gun and start shooting it. As my knowledge (which is still very meager) increased and my ability improved, I started realizing what I did and did not like in handguns. In my quest of finding a gun that satisfied my desire of feeling this way and shooting that way, I started by some high end handguns. Overkill? Perhaps, but I do enjoy shooting them. Granted there is a learning process, but if I would have bought the higher end guns first, I would have saved myself a lot of money. In short, I do not want to repeat the process I went through with handguns when I get into long guns. I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind make some suggestions on long guns that I can do some research. Your help is appreciated. Parameters: Rifle cost: $3 - 3.5k max Use: SD, competition, target shooting, hunting (don't know if they make an all-in-one type gun, but it would be nice if someone does) I know the "hunting" is vague, but for this exercise lets just say that deer would be the largest game that would be hunted. Thanks again.
  20. Thanks for the link. Been looking for something like that. I will have to pick one of those up. It won't be this month however. Got my credit card bill today, and it appears that I bought $1400 worth of ammo last month. I love shooting and knives, but sometimes I wish I would have never gotten into it. Being the tightwad I am, it makes me cringe when I have to sign those checks.
  21. I don't hunt for two reasons. First, I don't own a rifle. That will be next year. Secondly, if I shot something I wouldn't know what to do with it. When I buy my rifle(s) next year, I plan on doing some hunting with my nephew and my brother-in-law. I doubt will do a lot of it since I hate the cold. However, I do think it is a good skill to learn and knowledge to have.
  22. Why pay your taxes? It seems like so many of our politicians in Washington have done well without paying them.
  23. Very nice. Enjoy your trip.
  24. In all seriousness, I have seen Phil demonstrate that shot a couple of times. It is quite amazing. I have been sitting in that kind of lie a bunch of times. Typically, I would be in the bunker or at the end of the green. I carry a 60 Titleist Vokey wedge, and it is my most difficult club in the bag especially if I haven't been playing that much.
  25. Oh, that's nothing. I do it all the time. Now if Phil was any good, he would have been able to make it in the hole.
