Went to the range today with my wife and we were told that every gun will shoot ammunition through multiple walls until it hits something solid. With that being said, the Taurus Judge felt really off balanced and was not a good fit. We are currently debating on Smith and Wesson M&P 40C and a Remington 870 ShurShot.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Is there a shotgun shell that is less likely to injure someone on the other side of a wall? We are looking into buying a house, but until then, we are in an apartment complex which brings close proximity to neighbors.

I'm looking to buy a good home defense firearm with a price tag of less than $550. I would like for it to be able to tear through intruders, but not walls. It also needs to have low recoil as the gun will primarily be for my wife. I was thinking along the lines of a shotgun or a Taurus judge. Any suggestions on a gun and ammunition type? I've not owned a shotgun yet, so any advice is appreciated.

I live very close to the SunTrust you will be working at which is a very nice area, but so is Collierville in general. If you like tacos or hamburgers, you may want to try Booyah's Burritos which is about 30 seconds away from SunTrust by car. The Carriage Crossing mall has some nice restaurants, but if you are looking for good mom and pop places to eat, try Collierville's square. If you're looking for a nice high-end restaurant, you could try Texas de Brazil, but heads up as prices run $60/person.

When I went to Autozone Park, they had no gun signs up at the entrances. They also have them at the TGIFridays right beside it.

I don't drink, but I would like to know more about the current laws. When is possessing guns and alcohol legal? Is it only on private property or is it legal in public with the new restaurant carry?

Cops showed up and talked to the neighbors. Haven't heard anymore shooting. I thought mixing guns and alcohol was illegal. Either way, I wouldn't have called the cops on just anyone, but these neighbors have proven to be very irresponsible in the past. For instance, they recently received a DUI which caused them to lose their job and now they are no longer making payments on their house. As a result they quit mowing their lawn (currently around 3-4ft tall grass) and have told both my parents and grandparents that they have no intention of mowing it. They also have parties until the AM on a regular basis and after their last party my parents ended up having the back window of their car busted out with a large rock. The annoyances go on and on, but all-in-all they are very irresponsible neighbors. The last thing I would want to see is someone getting drunk and killing one of my family members.

Her neighbors now have beer in their hand + shooting. Cops are on their way.

My grandmother lives in Oakland, TN and has some neighbors directly behind her house that have about 3 areas of land, but are shooting firearms very close to her house. I called the Oakland Police Department and they informed me that there is no set distance to how close they can be shooting to their house as long as they are not shooting directly at the house or animals. They said they also cannot shoot after 10PM. Can someone direct me to the actual laws on this?

You may want to look into drum stick grip tape. The last kind I used did not leave a residue on the drum sticks when removed and it sticks really well to itself.

I've been thinking abut joining the NRA, but just wanted to know if there are any reasons I shouldn't. For instance: National Rifle Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I've also seen NRA members posting about how the NRA will not return their e-mails and that they are constantly spammed/harassed to give more money. What are the facts or pros and cons of NRA membership?
