  1. Going back to my pictures in post 13. I have an update. I was at Clark Central Park today and a worker at the park was there I was just asking him a question about using the shelters and the fire pits, unrelated to this. While talking it came up, that Park is on DOE property, not owned by the City of Oak Ridge, so that sign might actually be valid since it is not a city park. I have been searching on the internet, not finding the information I thought I could find on line about it, as to if it is city, run by the city or DOE now. But the guy we talked to said it was owned by the DOE. There is a park office out there I might have to stop in one day and check but not sure what or how I would ask as this is getting out of my league.
  2. It does sound like he was in a hurry to sell them. Most people would know if you are trading 2 for one with Boot, you are either getting soemthing really worth allot of you are going for a ride. I had some of the same thoughs as 70below about the risk and liability of the shop if the guns were stolen or if they had something wrong with them.
  3. I can agree with that. Also, some where in there you need to work in a line item where California gives Illegal immigrants driver licenses. Probably for the subcontractor for the Vet that actually goes out to collect said dead coyote.
  4. at least there was a medical reason here, althought sounds like he probably could have explained his reason for asking a bit better.
  5. Well, I guess my line of thought was a Holster showing on the outside of my leg and the top sightly covered on the top by a shirt, a person might not know if you are actually carrying or not. The part about a tip, was aimed at if you ended up leaving before eating your meal, such as if you where being ask to leave. Hell, they probably would not say anything to you if you did walk in with a Holster. When I eat out at a tip place I do tip well. But yea, I prefer not to give them any Money, Lincolns in Oak Ridge had good food, I went there once when they opened right before the restaurant bill passed, plus I didn't have my HCP either so i did not matter. The food was good, They charged my credit card 3 times for the meal, which I had to get fixed, so I really don't plan to eat there any more anyways. I think I was wanting to show places they can lose customers by not serving HCP carriers, but I guess they know that.
  6. I have seen them lock on to the wrong car before. I was in a van once that was being passed by a car. We got pulled over. I know we where not the ones speeding. The guy did not write us a ticket. It turned out when we both told him where we where going to work, it turned out his mom was our inspector at the job. He said he let us off with a warning but both of us disagreed with the stop. It was in traffic and we where being passed, it was about 12 years ago and I know the radar guns back then if 2 target in range, picked up on the faster target.
  7. I almost hijacked the other thread but felt this could stand on it's own Lets twist this one a bit, lets say a HCP decided to eat at a property posted restaurant. Dam, the place is posted but I really want to eat there for some reason, dam good burgers or you have family insisting. You disarm and leave your pistol in your Truck, but Keep your Holster on your side in OC mode, empty. You get inside, have your order placed and some Weasel (that works there) comes up and tells you, you can't carry and ask you in some terms to leave. Ask for your bill on the spot for what you have consumed-minus what they have not brought you yet, insist you wish to see the top manager since you followed the rules and are being harassed. Tell the manager you will never be back, leave your No Guns, no cash card alone with no tip. Any other comments---
  8. well, one lesson from Surivor man, even if you have a Knife, try to save it. If you can use something other then your Knife and save the knife for when you really need it. Same for making traps, bow & arrow if you are that good. Save your ammo, because anything that goes bang is going to give away your position as well. Remember Red Dawn.
  9. Here is a good question, take that 3 day pack listed. Anyone have a good list of what you could/should really fit in it if packed correctly in it for 3 days? I am thinking about getting two, 3 day backs to have on Stand by. wondering if that is the pack I should get or If I should get something else.
  10. Seems I remember something like the following but I tried google, I did some reading on General Macarthur, and I can not find any facts to back this up. So what follow may be a complete work of fiction but in might mind I believe I heard this someplace *********** Well, General Macarthur wanted to do something like that about 60 years ago. However his plan was a bit further north. If I remember correctly, he wanted to dump all of America's Nuclear waste alone the border of North Korea and China and drop about 15 to 20 small Nuclear bombs along the border to make a no man's land between China and North Korea. ********** Mike, I figured you would like that Google Search.
  11. See last line in my signature.
  12. It is like watching Pawn Stars, People go in not knowing what they have, wanting like 500 dollars, then finding out top dollar might be 4000 in an auction, and get oftered 2k for it and be upset. People really need to know what they are selling before they walk in to make a deal. Right now, I am working a deal with Austin's I have a pretty good idea what price to expect and he is in the range I expect. He is following up on some options for me and I expect Mike and I will have a deal made on my first purchase this week, depending on order time.
  13. For the question Do you keep a gun in the house? we should go up to the counter, I need more paper, and just start listing pages and pages of guns, even making up names of guns. But I agree, not the doctors area. I probably would have just wrote no on it and went on with life. Then if the wrong eyes saw the form and it was used as a target, opps they might be met with a Taurus Judge I am looking at.
  14. General practice? Maybe I should see if you take my insurance. Odds are you are not close to Oak Ridge.
  15. Yea I am with Mike on this one.
  16. Let me google that for you I have heard reports in the past of North Korean Missles making it to Alaska. It is hard to find stuff on that much in the same way it is hard to get hard facts on what is crossing the border in to AZ now days. However, the most likely response they will do will be to start up more reactors that they said they turned off. I never beleived they turned them off anyways. Or they may blow up another mountain in another test like they did before.
  17. Wow, Dolomite_supafly , I read that just shaking my head. If anything we learned if someone screws us how to screw them back but that is just how broken the %#^%@#&*%$ING system is broken.
  18. I have bad migraines with or with out drinking. Normally I can drink enough water before going to bed after drinking that I don't get a hang over but on the off chance I feel I have a hang over. I have found my migraine Med Replax really works wonders on them, 2-3 hours later and I am ready to face the day. Also it works just as well on my Migraines if I had not been drinking. Before that, Greasy eggs, I am talking Waffle House greasy or hardees streak egg biscuits.
  19. I will just go commando. also I think you can juse Magnets to Mess up the RFID tags as well. THere is a trick to it but pretty sure it can be done with just magnets.
  20. everyone should consider taking a CPR/First Aid course, part of the Be prepared. I took one a few months back at my local Red Cross, but I found out Austin's in Oak Ridge also does these courses and probably other places as well. Should get a couple people in your friend to take some CPR/First Aid training in advance as part of your plans.
  21. Can I cash in my Discovery reward points, for double points?
  22. I think that would fall under Hear say . If the HCP'er did not directly say it to them, the the HCP'er did not make a threat to them.
  23. I am not buying it. I have not had any cold ones tonight but I am pretty sure the floor is green. My cat likes to lean up against walls too and I never confused it with the ceiling.
  24. BTW looking at http://www.napo-sfba.org/DisasterPreparednessCalendar.pdf I was showing my wife the list, I used the 1 can of meat as an option, said look at the bottom they show suggestions. CANNED MEAT: tuna, chicken, raviolis, chili, beef stew, spam, corned beef, etc. I told her she had better not bring spam to the apocalypse. Spam is like the one meat I never could get used to eating.
  25. Here is some stuff you might find use for a BUG IN, or short term Bug out or maybe even a budget start up Bug out kit. Emergency Survival Kits - Home Survival Kits I am thinking about starting with a 4 person kit for just me and my wife for a bug in kit. I am thinking when the SHTF, might have to lay low for a couple days before trying to get to a bug out site. It all depends what kind of SHTF I like that back pack you listed up there. Been looking for a good one. However, I thought someone said to make sure to get a good frame in your backpack but it if it has enough supporting straps and storage I guess it should be fine.
