  1. At the top of page 1. I did not have enough room for the full question so I had to put it in my post.
  2. My in laws where visiting today and we had some long talks about guns, carrying, permits and laws. They live in KY and are considering getting their Permits now. I was comfortable with talking with them as I have always known they had guns. Never known of him to go shooting though. Funny thing first time I was in their house, he did the standard dad thing and showed me his guns, to which I pretended to not get the meaning behind and checked everyone of them to make sure they where not loaded as he handed them to me. Man that was a long time ago, about 14 years. But now that I am getting my permit, they are thinking about getting theirs and are glad I am teaching my wife to shoot and that she plans to get her permit as well. Anyways, while we are out at Ryan's in Oak Ridge tonight, my father-in-law noticed a person leaving was OC. I missed seeing it as my back was toward the person. I said, see, no harm came of it. No problems at all. Then I joked he must have a defective gun.
  3. It looks like the my washer that went bad and scared us a couple weeks ago. It kinda sounded like mine too. DEMON BE GONE! Someone get me the COLT Samuel Colt 1835 to kill supernatural things. If you don't know the TV show Supernatural, well I am a big fan, and here is a wiki on the fictional gun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Banazir/The_Colt_(Supernatural)
  4. BTW, I set a 2 day timer on this, to see how close it gets to theirs in votes in the same time frame. EDIT, I meant put this in the General Off-Topic, seems I put it in the wrong location, feel free to move it.
  5. The poll THE TENNESSEAN used from Mason-Dixon Research ran from July 19-21(2 day) and only got 625 votes. Here is my question for this poll. In regards to the recent Law in regards to carrying guns in restaurants that serve alcohol. Do you feel that a person who can legally carry a gun should be allowed to do so in a place that serves alcohol as long as they do not drink alcohol? example- designated driver.
  6. I just reread it and was about to edit but you beat me. It was a long week, long day. That is good to know. I am still a newb but using that site will help me now. Thanks.
  7. Thanks, I was using the wrong resource but at least I was trying. Checking that one out now. That is great on the CC and OC in KY being the same as TN. I don't have to try to remember to much different stuff at least. Starting to get excited, it is about time to start charging to the mailbox looking for it daily now, i know it is a bit soon but everytime there is mail, you know a bit of hope. Reading about KY being pretty relax on their gun laws compared to TN. Open carry with no permit at 18. Would that apply to a non resident of KY. Just wondering. It won't matter to me in a week or 2. But lets say right before I get my permit. I have to go to KY. I pack up here in TN. I know I can not legally carry here. I cross the line in KY. Could i then open my gun case, get out my gun load it up and put is on my belt and continue on my trip in KY legally? I know my father-in-law would ask me about that and coming to TN being a KY resident but I know he would have to follow TN law would no permit, no carry. That is simple to me.
  8. For the first time I actually googled them and found them. I seriously thought they where only a joke. No I am NOT getting one. I have no reason to believe it would have any legal weight or practical purpose other then to probably supply someone with money from my wallet. I will use my money to buy ammo.
  9. For this, consider. I will mainly only be traveling to KY in the short term. I will worry about other states as they come up. I am looking at Handgunlaw.us and going to KY I am not a legal eagle for reading legal terms. I know KY and all the nice blue state honor TN HCP . Looks like there off limit places are very similar to ours. My parents live in TN right on the border of TN, and my In-Laws are a couple hours in KY. I plan to carry driving to either place when we visit. If I read this Next Part right, I think I wish TN would get it. If I understand that, if we had it, our employer could not prevent us from having a gun in our parked cars at work, which would be great for those of us that have long drives and should be able to carry to and from. I know I should read their Deadly Force Laws In short, I should not see much different going into KY, I read what it said about Carry in Restaurants That Serve Alcohol. Found something I like, Permit/License Info Public Information: NO, Wish we could get that fixed here in TN. I did not see anything about gun buster signs? I guess if someone has one it carries no legal weight but I probably just would not want to give them money anyway right? This is probably my big one. Trying to find out if the CCDW in KY means you have to CC of if you have a choice of CC or OC like we do in TN? Most of the time I would be a CC, but when I go 4 wheeling I might prefer to be OC near my parents place which crosses back and forth on the TN/KY line and I sometimes run into either TN or KY Wild Life agents and I want to be certain OC is ok on the KY side of the line.
  10. I think i need to learn to like rice.
  11. we dont' have night/verse day meters. Price is the same day or night. I know in some places I have heard of those types of rates but never heard of them around here.
  12. Yup, I need to dust off the re-release of the orignal and watch it again before this one comes out. I haven't watched in in so long I can't remember how it ended. My wife has it and already set it out for me.
  13. The hardwood floor is part of the problem. The cat normally knows not to run on it, but it was scared and running. SO it hit the wall.
  14. Wow. I keep telling my wife, I need to go to the AZ border. But I have to keep my day job.
  15. I wonder if a water and baking soda solution would help get the smell out. use it for a rain barrel for a season and that would probably do it.
  16. Very good article, wait I thought those things where just jokes on the board.
  17. The cat ran full speed in to the wall, it tried to turn and hit side ways, had I not been running in the same direction I would not have seen it. I know the cat was trying to hide but missed the door. Funny to reply in my mind but at the time it was all business.
  18. I am working on that. Mike over at Austin's is checking up on a 45 for me, going to be the first of about 3 guns I am planning to buy shortly. Notice I was going for the .38, not the .22. The .38 is loaded in my house and ready if needed, now that know I am legal in my own home. Still waiting on my HCP to be mailed to me. In a way I am glad the washer machine did that, it was a wake up call for my wife, as it showed her, if someone had been breaking in, how little time to react we could have had. She now understands there would have been no time to load a gun and she feels safer. We have also setup plans if one of us is going to be out late and coming in late, to avolid any surprises to could lead to it being used on us by us. If one of us is going to be out late planned, we both make sure the other knows it. If unexpected we make sure the other knows it asap. When coming in late, Lights on, etc. Still working out details but working on a plan at least. To sleeply to continue typing now.
  19. Thanks for the tip on the checking for an FAQ. I will try to check these tomorrow. Since I don't have a lowes that close, it is only .50 cent difference for an every day item. But if I am ever near Lowes I will check.
  20. OK, this is going to sound strange. You said you could not sleep last night I could not sleep last night. My wife said half the people she works with complained last night they had trouble sleeping last night My mom told me she had trouble sleeping last night.
  21. Just a bit over a month ago my Central Heat/Air unit went completely out and had to be replaced. It happed about 10 pm or so. Then about 2 weeks ago, our Washing machine had a major problem about 10 pm or so and leaked water. Then 2 nights ago, our refrigerator went out about 10 pm, well we found it defrosing at that time. Today I had a repair man out to check the refrigerator and washer. He was able to fix the refrigerator with a simple relay, but when he checked the washer he said he found damage he had never seen before. Found a hole in the outer tub that to repair would cost as much as a new machine. He believed the bearling had gone bad and then the inner tub hit at hi speed and caused the damage. Which makes since, when the washer did that, my wife, the cat and I where sitting on the couch watching TV, there was a horrible nosie from the kitchen. I jumped up to to get my 38. I saw the cat run into a wall it was so dam scared. I thought someone was breaking down the front door as that is where it sounded like the nosie was coming from. I think someone has buried a voodoo doll in my yard and I need to find it, dig it up and burn it.
  22. Wow, and I thought I had a tuff month. Glad your little one is safe.
  23. Just wondering, how can you tell if they are FOOD grade? Tonight I was at home Depot to get some lids, the lids are .98 and they had 5 gallon buckets for 2.50. They are Orange. They seem to have the same marking as the one white one I have from wal mart. I wonder if It would be fine for food/water storage? From my understanding you are putting rice directly in the bucket. If a person was preparing ahead of time like this and was really concerned they could prepack the rice in ziplock bags. It would take longer to prepare and storage but would give an extra layer of protection to your food if water did get in. BTW, in the event I had to use for the reason it was storaged I don't think I would suddenly be concerned whether or not it was food grade Plastic.
  24. I barely knew about them before that. I was in my early 20's, carefree at the time. I didn't have a political bone in my body. However, it shows how times have changed since 60 years ago, After Pearl Harbor. Isoroku Yamamoto's famous quote "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve" Now 60 years later after 9/11 we are over there building schools. How can our leaders be so blind.
  25. If they are going to post, I prefer a BIG RED gun buster. I want it to be clear and not faded into the background. However I think the Law should have been more clear about where the sign should be posted. Some places have No Smoking, no pets real clear, but then almost hide the no gun sometimes several feet away from those signs. I think all the No Signs should be grouped together on or at least very close to the outside door. I have hear Lincolns Sports Grille in Oak Ridge is Posted and driving by the front door looking, I can not see it (you can drive very close to the front door). Maybe I would have to go in to see it, maybe it is written on the white sign you can't read until you get to the door. I like the sign at Gander MT. Something about all firearms must be in a case, unloaded, etc. I don't have the exact wording. at the bottom is says it does not apply to those that have HCP. I wish I had a camera when I was there. I am talking about the one at Turkey Creek Knoxville TN
