    SHTF

I am like mike, with my wife not making it far on foot, if I was alone I could get some distance. I know a place I would like to get to with some supplies but from Oak Ridge to my planned place would not be easy. However if I could get there I would be pretty well set. I figure Oak Ridge would not be a good place if the SHTF

    SHTF

East Coast Tsunami which could be started by a volcano in the Canary Islands. However, this is one that could happen is one that could also be prevented if people wanted to put in the effort to stop it before it happens. I even have a plan.

Well as far as walking on the rail roads, I know what you mean about the ties not space good for a walking. Sometimes there is easier walking on the edge of the rock on the lower side but I agree one would have the dangers of twisting an ankle. Cross country power lines are normally grown up in such thickets that only a rabbit can go though them in many places. Normally filled with saw brier and other thick coverage that would making walking though horrible. If I was going to consider them I would probably find it better travel to get near one and stay about 50 yards in the woods and keep the power lines on either my left or right depending on my wave of travel as there is normally left under brush in in the forest/woods then in the power line path.

    SHTF

I haven't see anyone bring up chemical and biological causes for a SHTF, unless you consider the nuclear that was brought up. When Katrina was happening, I told me wife if we where there, we would be driving out, if we could not drive out we would be walking out. Healthy people should easily get 10-15 miles a day. Looking at ab28 thread on hiking the AT, there were days he made 30 miles on the trail. Knowing your area, your starting point and having an idea where you want to end up would be must. Knowing a couple different routes to get there would be a plus. Since main roads would not be the best choice, I have been considering railroads as they are normally more direct. However I am sure many other people have thought of this as well. If it is chemical/biological/nuclear/other, step one is being in the initial survivor group. You may have very little control over this part. After that is when your additional planning would come into play.

  15. Shawshank Redemption was dam good. BTW, "Machete" actually started out as a teaser or Fake trailer for another set of cheap movies Planet Terror and Death Proof, it was never intended to be a movie, but the trailer was so popular they decided to make it a move. the orignal "Machete" trailer. BTW not work safe and not ver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8cCzltPD6Y&has_verified=1
  16. well they even branded it on the side too, they are proud of it. I know that one looks like it has been though 2 wars but when it first came ouf of the sweat shop it was made it, it was probably it pretty nice piece.
  17. I just watched the video and the new story and the reporter said they are "troopers are investigating what role speed played if any speed played in the crash" I think the video speaks for that. Had it been at normal interstate speed it would not have been a crash. Cruiser cam catches 100 mph crash It looks to me in the first video, he was with out stating the obvious he was driving way to fast and then he ended up about to rear end the LEO and went into the glass to avoid hitting the Leo. BTW if what was stated on fox news is true about him being stopped shortly before with trace amounts of weed/alcohol at 19 years old, they should not have let him go either. They might be partly to blame is that is true for not getting him off the road when they had the opportunity to do so legally. At 19, any amount of alcohol would be illegal I believe right? Not sure what they are defining as trace amounts.

What I keep on my key chain is this CPR Keychain with Gloves - Red Cross Store One of those things you hope you never have to use but will be glad you have it in case you do.
  20. I wonder if it is SA or DA? hey for 7K, it had better be DA. I would like to see a video of someone shooting it. It does not look like the cylinder is big enough to hold all 6 of those shells. I am thinking that and remembering the Taurus Judge only hold 5, .410 shells.
