I got a reply email. Just editing out names. Hight lighting some Key points. Found one mistake the person thought a HCP required the person to have a Driver license, but since that is not this person's area I am not going to bust chops. Dear Mr. *******: Tennessee has very strict beer carding/sales laws for carry out beer sales. As a result of this, Tennessee has one of lowest rates of teen drinking/minor beer violations in the US. A record that our industry is very proud of. Tennessee law for ID carry out beer purchases is as follows: "the adult consumer must present to the permit holder or any employee thereof a valid, government-issued document, such as driver's license, or other from of identification deemed acceptable to the permit holder, which includes the photograph and birth date of the adult consumer attempting to make such purchase of beer." Violation of this law can result in a $250 fine and a class C misdemeanor (which can include jail time) for the clerk, and up to $5,000 fine and suspension or revocation of license for the permit holder. Given this level of penalty -- carding is something that clerks and beer permit holders take very seriously. I'm sure that it won't surprise you to know that there are a lot of fake ID floating around out there. A clerk has the option of refusing a sale for any form of ID that does not appear valid. A clerk may also refuse the sale if there are concerns regarding the sobriety of the customer, or if he suspects the purchase is being made for a minor. A Tennessee Hand Gun Permit does meet the definition of acceptable ID as defined by law. However, Tennessee law does give the clerk and permit holder the option "identification deemed acceptable." I don't specifically know of hand gun permits, or passports or military ID s being rejected as acceptable proof of age for beer sales, however it is possible that many clerks out there may not have ever seen a Tennessee Hand Gun Permit, or many forms of foreign passports. It is therefore their right to err on the side of caution and refuse to make a sale when they are unsure about the form of identification. Given that a Tennessee Hand Gun Permit does require a Tennessee driver's license, if a handgun permit holder ID is rejected for a beer purchase, that person will have a Tennessee driver's license as a form of ID and will be able to make a beer purchase. If the carding policies and procedures of your local vendor are not acceptable to you, as a recourse, consumers may take their business elsewhere to a location that does suit your ID needs. Also -- your email references "alcohol" which in Tennessee law references liquor and wine sales. Beer sales are regulated under a different set of laws and by a different agency. The information that I've given you above is for the sale of carry out beer purchases only. The industry I represent, convenience stores, only make carry out beer purchases. I do not have the regulatory information or general operating practices of retail liquor stores or beer or alcohol on premise consumption. ***** *******, ********** Tennessee Fuel and Convenience Store Association P. Went to liquor store, picked up a bottle of wine, traveled though biglots and off to wally world. Been to wally world, no problems. picked up several things including my big game tag for deer season. We had already been to 2 of the 3 peoples before my wife noticed I was carrying. She found out by putting her hand on my leg and I said careful. She said are you carrying? I said yes and from now on just assume I am. I have carried 2 days in row.

Yup, it is good for allot of things. I am sure someone will mistake it for a glock. It will make a good paper weight. barely heavy enough to make a good sinker for fishing, well, loaded it would work. As Dad told warned me it snaps allot by just pulling the trigger but if you set the hammer and then pull the tigger it fires every time. Not what I want to have my wife trying to learn with. We tried it yesterday. Snapped on one 22 shell 3 times, a CCI. I then pulled the hammer back and it fired it. It is not hitting the shells hard enough in my opinion. Anyways. I took her to Over to Austins to night, she met Mike and picked out a Walther P22 to practice with. -
Finally kept a promise I made to my girls a while ago

It goes beyond age 18 by far you know. BTW good work. Now besides the future cost of college, you have the current cost of ammo, but hell that is for a good cause. -
For .22 ammo, I normally buy the CCI Minimags to the winchester boxes 555 rounds.. .22's are dam chest enough to shoot all day that is why I want to get her a .22 for learning.

As much as I like a Mark III River, it is to big for her hands. Will check back soon still at work

I am going to be looking for a practice .22 pistol for my wife. I want a .22 so we can shoot it allot for the cheap at the range. I would like to find something SMALL, around the size of a Walther p22, but not sure I want a Walther p22. I am wondering if S&W makes anything around that size, semi or revolver. I will check back after work. Thanks. Price is very important on this. I don't want to break the bank. S&W probably first choice, but feel free to list other major brands. Key it has to be for small hands. She can now correctly hold a full size pistol. Very short fingers.

BTW, all went well yesterday. I think there might be a problem with dads Ruger, it never had an unintended discard. There was no Chaos in the streets. Dad didn't want to keep it and sent me back home with me, along with another 22 revolved I picked up for my wife to practice with. As we tested the other 22 revolver. I understand why he sent me home with his Mark 1 ruger. The little revolver is not all that reliable. I would hate to depend on it. It likes to go snap. BTW, the pistol I picked up was a RG model 23 .22. It likes to misfire if you pull the trigger for DA. Pull the hammer back and fire I never misfired it once. I am going to be visiting Mike over at Austins this week. -

http://handgunlaw.us/states/kentucky.pdf There is a section on non permit RV/Car Carry Without A Permit/License I am not finding anything that says it would be off limits in your car/truck/RV once you have your permit. Correct me if I am wrong. TN and KY are the 2 states I will mostly travel in. -

No. I am not. see post 14. Maybe SR9C. Still looking and shopping. eyes are bigger then my wallet at the moment though. I have to start out in a price I can afford. I have had to spent 8k on home maintenance this summer that I did not have in my budget. -
Probably a lite breakfast. Going to have a small cook out for Lunch at Dad's, (Mom, Dad, wife and myself). Going to go out with the 4 wheeler, target practice. Eat come cook out left leftovers and come home.

Today, I am returning Dad .22 Ruger. I guess it could be referred to as a Mark 1, but I just now thought of that. Back in WWI they didn't refer to it as WWI. They called it the Great War I believe. It is a bit big to try to fully CC, plus I don't have a holster to CC it. I am going to wear a long shirt that will mostly cover it. Going to pick up a .22 revolver for my wife to practice with from Dad. He insists on it, I can't say no. I am going to try to return his .22, but I think he is going to send me back home with it. In his mind he is likes guns but does not see any reason to more then 1 pistol. In his mind, he is trying to save me money to keep me from buying another pistol. I am gong to be buying a couple anyways. -

I looked over that thread. I had been thinking some type of shoulder holster. With winter coming on and wearing jackets and such it would be a good way to start. I need to decide on a EDC and holster at the same time. I took at look at that SR9C, looks pretty good, did some reading on it. I do like Rugers. I will keep it on my list for sure. -
No experience with Spirit, but I just switched from AT&T Cingular (of about 9 years) to Verizon. I got the Droid X (first Smart Phone). I could not be happier with Verizon over AT&T. Since you have Verizon already and are thinking about Spirit. Are you having trouble with Verizon that you are hoping would be corrected by switching? Looking to save some money going to Spirit? Or maybe there is a certain phone or option they have that Verizon is not offering?

yup, classic internet. Furthermore, anything put on the internet is most likely going to be available forever. Most people don't know this but the internet was created for the Department of Defense to survive a nuclear attack. It was originally a Military item, that later went to universities, then to business and to the public. Of course I am talking about back in the 60's, DARPA and ARPANET, (well before Al Gore invented the internet). A Brief History of the Internet

From Car Registration they should have no clue whether you or your wife even have a HCP is my understanding, the databases are not linked. They should not have that info until they A. Ask B. Run Driver License number and check Not a lawyer. However maybe he had a clue, any bumper stickers similar to the following

I figured it was, and I figured several would not get it.

She is wanting to learn, but i know if I try to force or speed up the proceed I will end up turning her off the idea. So I have told her, we have a range pass, I am now legal to carry. So any time we are both available and you want to we can go to the range and target practice. So it is up to her when she goes. Not yet, tomorrow is actually going to be my first carry since getitng my HCP. Probably tomorrow, Yes, as discreet as possible. The shirt I will be wearing will almost cover it. The ruger is something like 9inches long. I am not going to leave it in my truck if I have to go in anyplace. -

Now I am trying to find where you were poking fun at me, my bad grammar or my ability to teach her about guns? I know I ask allot questions here but at the range I am all business when handling a gun. I just don't want hand her a higher caliber gun and scare her away from guns. She has only shot a grand total of 20 shots. They were all that day we meet up there at Norris. -

I am looking into how I will CC. One thing, I am a big guy and I am not sure how that is going to affect my ability to CC. I am not big enough to CC in fat rolls but still pretty big. I am just over 300 pound, 6', but I carry it well. Most people if they guess under guess my weight. So I need to learn the different ways to CC and might even need to change the way I dress to allow CC better. I will probably be looking in Semi Auto for EDC. Going to Guess for now, on thumb safety since I am more used to that. Since my hunting rifle is that way as well as Dad's Ruger. As far as a Brand. Well I want to stay with a brand I know of. Sorry but before I came to this board I had never heard of allot of brands people here use. Guess I have been too disconnected for the past 10 years. Prefer American made if possible. -

I have not settled on a primary yet. There are so many choices. I know a few I want but won't be good every day carry. I am going to have my wife learning with a .22 until she gets more used to guns. I know better then to ask for suggestions on an EDC here. That would be like asking 10 preachers to example a passage in the Bible. I would get 8 to 10 different answers. Some guns I want, but I know will not be good EDC. Taurus Judge, 3 inch Chamber. (Just because I want it) Still trying to decide exactly which one I want. I know what I want but they don't do custom. I want a .22 Ruger Mark 3 another Just because I want it (P512MKIII) But for an EDC, I am having a bit more trouble making up my mind. -
Thanks for the update. I was wondering the other day how he got.
