  1. The Bike came home today, been out on it a bit. Good Power, good low end which is what i need around the City.
  2. yup, i already picked up the gloves, I am going to have to check into riding shoes/boots/leathers still. So those extra days just give me time to get everything i need. with the Bike here sooner, I might be out riding first instead of getting what i need to go with it.
  3. He told me my auto insurance would not cover it if something happened while hauling it home. I am not certain about that, but i figure he knows the insurance better then I do. He was closed Friday and Saturday for Easter. I will most likely be getting it Wednesday instead of Thursday. Going to base it on the weather. I have Thursday/Friday off from work so I can start breaking it in. Even though it is a Silver and Chrome, I decided I wanted a helmet that would highly visable. I almost went with a solid red, but then I went with a Silver and Red Helmet. However, if they had, had XXL in the black Punisher, I would have took it. My wife tried to get my to buy the Iron Man Helmet, but didn't seem right for some reason.
  4. not with this bike. This is pretty much going to be City only.
  5. btw, you don't have to tell me, that top pipe is a fake, for looks. The one from the number 2head goes down and meets up with the other pipe out of sight.
  6. I think there is a process to make sure those misdemeanors have been processed and completed. I think i have read that is some documents haven't been filed correctly that things and linger around and haunt you later. Sorry clearly i am not a lawyer.
  7. Well there has been a twist in this story. I got delayed a bit due to needing tires and ball joints for my truck. The deal I had lined up fell though due to the dealer/sales guy. So when my good deal on the xt250 fell though, give me time to look at my other options a bit. I put some thought into my Need verse my want. The main type of riding I will be doing A to B around town being the need. My want being street legal and able to do off road, old strip mine roads. I sat and and put thought into it, how often am I really going to do that, 2 times a year maybe? I guess I will just continue to use the 4 wheeler dad and I share for that. I decided the dual sport XT250 was more of a want, then a need. So started looking at my street bike options, that fit the budget I decided I was willing to be in. So i got different price ranges for a couple different models, made my notes. Figured the range I should be able to get a deal in. @DaveTN I called the sales guy I had already met at my closest shop. Went down in person today, wasn't sure at first we were going to get the deal i wanted, but I had my numbers that wanted to go with. I made an offer, got a counter offer that was reasonable. Signed paper. Also my pre approved loan from last month was honored even though a new higher rate has went in. I was with in 30 days. Picked out a new Full Face Helmet as well. Going to pick it up next Wednesday or Thursday. My insurance guy told me not to leave the shop with it until he had it on file. Seems my auto insurance doesn't cover me for a few days on a motorcycle like my car insurance covers me on a another car for a few days. Yamaha V Star 250. It is very similar to the Honda Rebel that I loved.
  8. when I renew in about 2 years I plan on it.
  9. maybe i pinched pennies a bit much but 500 to 1000 difference is a bit. Plus the shop i am doing business with isn't outside of my normal travel area and one i have used since I was a teenager. trust me, known MSRP is 5199 and getting told 6300 before tax. no. then he droped to 6000, but i honestly had enough of him. i decided even if he matched, i wasn't going to deal with him. I am satisfied i gave them a chance. This started out a dealer 300 miles away beat the local guys enough that i was going to have an over night trip with the wife and still be save enough to to make it worth it. Now I pretty much have that deal from a much closer dealer
  10. Jgradyc, at this point i am pretty sure hauling it back in my truck will be OK and I have found the deal closer to home now. a closer shop gave me the same price, with in $25. So I am going to pull the trigger tomorrow when I can get my loan officer in touch with them. Jgradyc, that motorcycle hauler in the picture is a winning idea for sure. looks like it is a ramp/loader combo. In a pinch I bet a 2 by 8 board would do just fine once tied down to give it some extra support. Why I don't want to just ride it all the way home. I am a bit out of practice on motorcycles. Will feel a better/safer breaking it in closer to home where i know the road/traffic patterns better.
  11. Me. never pulled a trailer with it. (don't tell anyone, don't think i have ever pulled a trailer except with a four wheeler) but I understand the basics.)
  12. I have a good truck. Just doesn't have a receiver hitch. I can haul pretty much anything I need. I always considered a trailer if push come to shove.
  13. never rode a 650, but the 250 honda dual sport is just 2 dang high for me. i am not a little guy but my legs don't seem long enough for it. I am 6 foot. But i think i mainly road up to 200 dual sport honda's but they don't make them any more. But I would have liked something like the 650 engine on a 200 frame.
  14. believe it or not mostly City but short trips to work and back. As far as off road, some Country dirt roads, some old strip mine roads back near my parents place that I grew up on. Not so much actual trails, but I like the option. I really know I don't want a straight up street bike or straight up dirt bike. I rode street/trail bikes as a kid and they feel right to me. My truck doesn't have a receiver hitch believe it or not. However I might have the deal i want much closer to home. Well found it in KY for about the same price, another close place texted me that could be very competitive, but Not got them back on the phone yet.
  15. thanks for the idea. never rented one so it wasn't really on my radar, but that is a thought. I have intended to buy a small trailer for years, but i only seem to thing I need one about once every 3 or 4 years. However if i get this I may reconsider the trailer again. People will think this silly but I will mainly ride this in town. I know there are other bikes that would be better for my intended use, but this is the type of bike I grew up with and like how they handled. Well I had Honda's then, but I don't like the current Honda 250/650. The Frames just feel to big to me. I like this, I can put both feet down and it feels right to me. (Die Hard Honda boy jumping the fence).
  16. Hey all, Still around. Not much changed, except I picked up a Taurus 38 +P to keep in my truck. I also have question. Does anyone have a Yamaha xt250? I know the over call length is 84. I am assuming that is from the tip of the front tire to the end of the rear fender. If that is the case, any idea of the length Outside maximum Tire to Tire? Reason, I may be going and picking one up and my Ford Sport Track may be a bit short even with the bed extender. even at a diagonal 84 is going to be hard to fit. hoping for a measurement from the front of the front tire to the rear of the rear tire. assuming/hoping the fender and tag are what makes it total the 84.6. See the attachment. I am hoping 84.6 is a total number. If anyone has one could you please measure and confirm? I know I should ask this on a Yamaha site, but I am not a member of any. I am thinking very strongly about getting this bike New and going to have Haul it almost 300 miles but at about 1100 savings if everything pans out. Been talking to a manager and getting all the fees right down to the out the door cost. no surprises.
  17. Thanks, all but putting them on and trying, appears you guys are in the same mindset as myself that they should work. Like i said I already have the tires from other car and they are already mounted on rims that should be the same bolt pattern So all that being said this could save me me some money. Now just need another one of those mid winter days around 70 to switch some around and check.
  18. I am wondering if anyone can confirm if this would fit. We have a Ford Taurus, stock tire size is 215/60R16. I have a like new set of 225/60R16. I am wondering if that little bit of different would be 2 much? been trying to search but short of putting them on the car and checking to see if they rub I have been unable to find an answer for this. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=215-60r16-225-60r16 The car is a 2007 Ford Taurus, SE. It would save a good amount of money if they will work. I am fairly certain the back will be no issue, more concerned about putting them on the front.
  19. i am a bit behind on this, but i am very interested this.
  20. My wife says, well that escalated quickly.
  21. I plan to set cruise on 70 or 65 whatever the speed limit is. I feel not having a State license plate on the front makes me a target anyways. Plus my TN plate with the TGO Logo on it really makes me stand out. Thought about taking it off, but nope.
  22. This was my big concern. This is happens to be a speedy trip to Ohio and Back 2 days later. I know I don't have time to see much of it, I was hoping to get in long enough to see the X 15, but I will probably be going back in the Fall with more time. Will probably just skip this, this time.
  23. Anyone here been to National Museum of the US Air Force, Dayton, OH? I may be driving by their soon and wondering more about parking. It is on an active Air force Base or has the entire place been turned over to the Museum? I read on the website no weapons allowed in the Museum. Didn't say anything about leaving one in your vehicle. I don't like doing that but we all know a few places. I believe it said they have metal detectors and subject to search. Even photo ID may be required. (I have to brush up on OH Gun laws before I go up, i know OH is a Must inform state). Just wondering if I am even allowed to have one in my vehicle to park, if I intend to leave it in my Truck. I really want to see the Museum as they have several of my Favorite Aircraft there. x15 plane Bockscar My possible trip though there is kind sudden but should have enough time to plan a side stop here. It has been on my list so if I am passing though going to try to stop.
  24. Yea, takes me back too. " Earth Star Voyager is the name of a science fiction television movie shown on the Wonderful World of Disney in 1988. " At one point they bring on board some crazy guy who puts together a rail gun. and it is actually on youtube. Just for the hell of it, I re watched it sometime in the past year. science fiction has changed allot.
