  1. in reply It may not be a right, but it is the decent thing to allow people to do. But I think we are on the same page
  2. I think I might try it for fun, getting out for exercise with only very basic tools. Doctor wants me out more. I like the outdoors. Heck, I know some places that are not even listed as Gold places back home I might even try just for the heck of it. Yea, i kinda figured all the surface gold is gone.
  3. Thanks for the link. I am pretty sure I don't reasonablly appear to be over the age of 50.
  4. Agreed The minute we say they can't protest, we give someone else the right to take our right to protest something away. Slippery slope. This would be a good place for a video of Old Man Waterfall from Futurama (A Taste of Freedom) if I could find the clip but I can't find it.
  5. I am considering since I am with in driving distance at least looking into it. Might be something fun to do on a day off from work. Of course I need to make sure I don't break any laws or trespass. So I would want to make sure I go to public land where it is allowed to try my hand at it. I am certainly not going to spend allot of money in it as I can see the pay off is not looking to high unless a person just gets lucky. I really don't want to join a club and have membership dues (unless I were to start finding a worth wild amount).
  6. repost, http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/53920-cool-vid-lewis-clark.html But very cool.
  7. Where were you Monday, February 28, 2011 at 5:28pm ? NM, you are older then then suspects, you are free to go.
  8. That is the issue I guess, is there a law or is it policy. Since I have never worked in that line of work I don't know. If it is policy and they are pretending it is law then I would have issue with it. Last night I went to a pub I go to often enough they know me and I was not ask, however the first time that girl saw me over a year ago she did check me. It was funny after she checked me, the both owners and the manager came over and talked with me for a few minutes and I was on good terms with them.
  9. I believe the suspects were wearing this. Probably just visiting Nashville.
  10. Don't molest the deer or any other wildlife.
  11. Or that the home owners had not properly secured the weapon better that almost anyone could have gotten it, (even though the son was 27).
  12. I agree Seriously if I touched a co worker in the way the screeners touch people I could fired at the very least, pretty sure that would be the least of my worries.
  13. OK, I know this could never be a get rich quick or anything. Always beware of get rich quick as they never are. However it could be something fun to get out, get fresh air and exercise. At work several of us watched Gold Rush Alaska and have discussed several things about the people like they don't seem to know how to run the equipment and that if we were going to spend a 1/4 million dollars how we would have brought in people that knew how from the start. All the mistakes they made, like bringing their family along, almost building a small town, instead of just building enough shelter to do. They over did some item instead of working on the mine. I believe one of the facts they listed was there was as much gold mined in Alaska in 2009 as in 1909. The difference they failed to tell was that in 1909 or whatever year it was, most of that was panned and mined by hand, now it is done with mostly with heavy equipment. In short it is much harder to get now. Anyways I said something about if it wasn't so far I wouldn't mind if a couple of us took a vacation and just went panning for gold, however I would not want to go someplace where everyone has already been panning. You know would not want to pan where it has already been panned out. I would want to get off the beaten path. A co worker brought up about some places here in east TN where you can pan for gold. I had heard about it for years but never put much stock it in, and still don't. I did some research and sure there was some minor gold rushes in east TN in the 1800's From what I read, it is possible to find some gold panning in East TN but looks really really small amounts around Coker Creek and Tellico Plains. Also most information I did find when trying to search, almost everything wants a person to join a club, which to me looks like that might be where the money is actually made. Memberships and selling supplies. Some reading I did, seems TN issues permits for dredging for gold. Gold Dredging Permit Info Seems you can even pan in national forests in certain areas. However I would certainly want to learn more before trying, even check with a ranger first before just trusting a website. Anyways, just going to be curious if anyone has tried panning for gold anyplace?
  14. Give him this, no bad shots. In short, seems all his shots did not hit any unintended targets. CA could have done a better job writing that article. I believe they called the attacker the shooting victim toward the end. Almost like they might have inferred the attacker was a victim as well. If I followed the way the story as written, Thomas drive the gunman to the drive way, the shoot out happened there, then Thomas drive the gunman to the hospital. Thomas was charged. The gunman has not been changed yet(in the article). That whole article needs to be re written.
  15. No really. However as I went out with some friend at work the other night as a place I normally would not go. I wont' say the place as I don't want to give them free advertising. I walked in, they wanted to ofter me a table I said I was looking for some friends from work. She acted like she knew who I was looking for and started to lead me off in one direction saying something about some people over here. Anyways I spotted my friends. I went over and pulled up a chair. Girl came up to me to take my order and when she carded me I just joked and said I am probably the oldest person at this table. Turned out was talked about it waiting on my drink, I was by 2 years.
  16. I got my M before I got my D. If I remember I walked out of the DOS when I was 16 with a MDL, Motorcycle license Driver learner. Fully legal on the motorcycle but as I had to take the car written test and the motorcycle written test, almost identical, then ride the motorcycle for them I got MDL. After I got my car license, it turned into a DM. As far as driving the motorcycle for them, I just had to show them all the lights worked, pull out safely drive about 100 yards behind the mall, turn around and come back. They did not ride with me either. Dad had a friend ride the bike down, to the DOS. We had heard stories of people showing up at the DOS and being questioned about how they had got their ride their and if if they admitting to driving it themselves getting a ticket on the spot. (admitting guilt). If I remember correctly when I was about 14, TN used to let people get a Motocycle license, kind of a learner that was only good for 7 miles from your home. I really wanted it, but dad saw no reason for me to have it.
  17. I don't have strep, just a sore throat. I find it odd my sore throats are never strep, flu or any of the other things that others seem to have, yet the pain I seem to have seems to be on the same level. I guess I would hate to have those. I think sometimes if is not diagnosed or those are sometimes diagnosed when it may just be a sore throat.
  18. That was the idea behind the Jack to get me though the weekend. I did get to my doctor this morning. I am still bad, missed work today, I hope to make it in tomorrow.
  19. Didn't Daniel Boone's rifle as well? Seems I heard that once, but I could be mistaken. Back then when your life depended far more on your rifle then it does today.
  20. I was thinking the same thing. Until the repeating Rifle came about, seems those would have been real popular.
  21. Wow, I never knew that. That bit of history certainly was not taunt in history when I was in school when we covered Lewis and Clark. I never knew about his repeating air rifle.
  22. Last night started getting a sore throat. Sneezing runny nose today along with the sore throat. I have a feeling this is not a good sign for tomorrow. Right or Wrong, I am self medicating tonight with some Jack Daniels, something I normally do not do. However I do believe good whiskey is good for the throat at times like this, why else is there alcohol in all the leading cold medicine. Not drinking it fast enough to get drunk or even a buzz, only about 1 shot a half hour, however I am in and not going anyplace. I even made a Tea with Honey and Jack. It is pretty good. It was meant to be warm on my throat, the honey was to feel good and the jack is mean to kill germs. (on one hand I feel bad about mixing it, on the other hand I am called it medcine).
  23. I am sure they are going after the big scores like when they do one that later ends up in a movie or some other publication. However, they can not own the person. Slavery has been abolished. It will be interesting to see were case law goes. They might make the Tattoo artist fill out paper work at the time of the tattoo and have the customer sign off if they every want to claim any copy right. In which case many customers will just go to the next guy.
  24. This gives me an idea and my idea might give troopers or other LEO's ideas. Someone ask a few days or week ago if they know about a drug house and it is common knowledge why don't LEO's go raid and bust them. It comes down to being able to prove and get warrants. Maybe they should go to extra Radar Speed control very near those common drug houses. I bet it would slow down allot of (drug) traffic.
