  1. OK, I have tried to find info on this however, links that should take me to it lead me to dead ends I had a link Tennessee Window Tint Laws Tennessee Code section 55-9-107: Motor vehicle windows with tinting, reflecting, or sun screen material That took me to Legal Resources however, I tried and could not find 55-9-107 or anything about tint. I found another site which I believe is pretty close to accurate Welcome to TintLaws.com However, my question is, related to what about trucks and other things you see driving around with almost painted designs on the back glass, classic example, Rebel flag or an American flag that can not be seen though. How are those considered? Not really tint but serves the same purpose right? I have heard some people say the back glass does not matter but I don't believe that is exactly correct, but using the example of trucks with the black glass completely filled with something seems to make me wonder. Reason I am wondering is the back window of my car is kinda dark and I am a bit worried it might be borderline. I have already peeled the tint from my Driver and passenger windows not because I was warned but because it was bubbled difficult to see though. I don't want to peel the tint on the back glass because I don't want to mess up the rear defroster. Anyway to determine if mine is 35 percent? I did not have it installed, it was on there when I brought the car years ago. I know were I live they are cracking down on window tint, I have had some friends at works been told to remove theirs. So I am trying to be proactive before I get a fix it ticket. I remember when I got the car years ago, I was told it was legal, but that was just being told, and I remember being told then if I could hold a drivers license to the inside of the glass and read it though the tint it was legal but I am wondering what the current standard way to tell is.
  2. So that is how those finish. I always got the Slower Traffic and Keep Right Except parts but Never had time to finish the rest of those sentences. Thanks.
  3. Just don't try to carry it though an airport. I can image some confused TSA agents when it is detected via xray.
  4. Watch the video, they guy that they suspect is only the only they suspect because he called in and said it might have been me. When I watched the video, since he had left the mall and went to work like normal, sounds like he went to work unaware that the mall had been Evacuated. So the event may have happened after he left. So what I am saying is, it may not have been his umbrella at all since police did not apparently make it to the scene while he was there. Yet, he is going to return his 27 dollar umbrella. I think he wanted some media attention. And BTW, assume it was 100 percent real, I would ask for copies of all the video I could, including mall video if I could get it to prove I was their since the police have already said no charges and closed their investigation. I would ebay that umbrella with all the video I could get for provenance.
  5. Well, at least he was talking to the Navy ( Adm. Robert Willard, head of the U.S. Pacific fleet) about his concerns. I can only image Admire Willard thought that was a joke and had to control his laughter. This also just happened to be on Apirl 1st Here is a news story about that event Hank Johnson Worries Guam Could "Capsize" After Marine Buildup - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

  7. I don't know if they have don't any good this year but my parents get them, but they have not told me anything this year. They only started a few years ago. I have never tried them and I don't plan on it, more for you guys.
  8. Make certain all your students know this website Handgunlaw.us and how to use it. It tells laws about each state they may travel to and from. They need to know the laws of the state when they cross the border. Some states are MUST INFORM the officer asap when stopped if armed. Example on that site, a person delayed 40 seconds before telling an officer in MI he was armed even after showing the permit and was cited for not informing fast enough. How they inform an officer should be planned so they don't appear panic-ed or rushed, as we all know a traffic stop is an unnerving event even if we feel we may not be in the wrong or even if we know we have been speeding. I suggest something along the lines of the following, when the blue lights come on. Find a safe way to pull over, use proper signals. Roll down your window, if of night time turn on dome light and place both hands on the wheel. (I never get my license or anything out early.) I wait for the Officer to walk up to the window, he/she will introduce and (mind you I have not been stopped since getting my HCP, I was stopped about 3 months before but I have planned this next part) Officer, I would like to inform I have my carry permit and I am armed today. (I plan to avoid using the word GUN based on some reading I have done as in a situation officers may react if in pairs if they hear the word gun) Last time I was stopped with my hands still on the wheel one of the first things I was ask was if I had any weapons, which I did not. Don't be confused with TN being a not requiring you to inform, if they directly ask the question I understand we must answer truthfully. He then proceeded to ask for my license and reg. I told him my license was in my back pocket and I ask permission to reach for it. Remind them, no sudden movements, I also told him were my reg. was but it was in my visor above me so at least it was easy to get. (BTW, if you are going to be teaching them, remind them before they leave the class how they can request a DUP HCP at the same time they apply for only 5 extra. Since DUP of HCP are allowed and it is easier to get them at the same time, however some DMV's get confused since you are not allowed a Dup of a DL)
  9. I get the feeling that is what they want the ACLU to cough up 500,000 dollars for a processing fee for the freedom of information act they filed As I understand, MI has 5 of these devices.
  10. I just leave mine in my pocket and don't pull it out. However, I get the feeling this device might be able to read it at some range. I agree with that. I am going to tread as lightly as I can with this, but I believe if a LEO asks me if they can search my car/truck and I refuse they look hard for a reason if it includes calling out a K9 to walk around. Then all they have to say is the K9 gave a reason to suspect, it would always be their word verse mine. I don't trust the signal of a K9 in all cases.
  11. Married 8 years yesterday. Now wait until Friday.
  12. I just went out and mowed the back lawn, push mower, and thought about this some. Perhaps, we should write our Reps and get a bill started to preempt something like this before they get a thought of it in TN.
  13. I don't know how Legit this is, however a co worker told me about it at work today and I typed it in google and I got a hit. Seems, that MI, State Police are violating the Fourth Amendment with out probable cause using a device to search people's smart phones during traffic stops. Here is the first article I found. Michigan Police Search Smartphones - Mobiledia second hit Michigan: Police Search Cell Phones During Traffic Stops seems the ACLU is involved. I just found it on CNET ACLU: Michigan cops stealing drivers' phone data | Crave - CNET
  14. Thanks for the link.
  15. But Office, possession is 9/10's of the law.
  16. I would rather have the cannon but I have to say the crossbow is a bit more creative and more complex of a build.
  17. I agree. I hate doing my taxes. It should be simiple enough that I am cut though out the year the RIGHT amount that I should not have to deal with paper work later in my opinion. If I work, I work and it should be taken care of then. O well I know nothing is that simple but since that is my only income it should be

  20. Bad storms all night for most of the state I see.
  21. I am starting to think cleaning a mosin caked in Cosmo should be considered a right of passage. It is not a very complex gun, not to expensive if you screw up and they are readily available. It has given me a bit more confidence in my abilities in this area as I have never taken a gun down this much before on my own.
  22. Edit, scatch this, I was dead tried and mis understood what I read and my reply did not match.
  23. My first one, the one I am currently cleaning is a 1932 Hex. The numbers don't match. The wood is nice but not perfect. It is going to be something I take to the range and I plan to shot the hell out of it. I expect it to hold value but I don't expect much increase because there are so many of them and because I don't have matching numbers, but you never know.
  24. Well, I am listed now. Man, I wish there was some way we could get them to no publish this. Any chance we could get our Reps to make this information not public? It is not public in all states. Maybe everyone that is not listed should call Nashville and confirm they are still valid before they get stopped by a LEO and find there is some clerical error and there HCP is invalid like a poster a few weeks ago.
  25. I got into mine tonight, I got the front ban off with out much trouble The other was a bit tougher, but I took your suggestion with a flat screw driver and carefully worked it off. Did not damage any wood. I took bolt out got some of surface cosmo off some what off. Still in my living room right now, getting already to go outside with it tomorrow for the real cleaning job. I have it completely apart, ready for some early parts cleaning tomorrow outside. Anyways looking though the bore, it has some very nice rifling. So it appears it was cleaned well before it was preserved in cosmoline.
