  1. I wonder if I could get something that I could get something with a changeable Stock, Pistol grip/stand stock option, where as the pistol grip would still be in the legal 26 inches? Also when it comes to Shot guns I have only ever had what dad gave me growing up, should I worry about Chokes or just shoot as it. What rounds would use use for home Defense in a 12 ga? (considering chokes here as well) I might want a place for a optional light, plus ported barrel.(I know the barrel can be ported later)
  2. I have had a theory for years that holds true. Allot of News story's revolve around a persons name. THis is just one example Bernie Madoff was another one, He made off with the money Allot of news stories just write themselves based on the names of those in the event.
  3. OK, This is just gathering ideas. I have not been shopping around. I have not be out putting guns in my hands yet. Due to the increasing number of home breaking's and home invasions around Oak Ridge. This morning I said that is enough, when I was woke up this morning to my scanner going off with reports of another home invasion report as I was about to go to work (Oak Ridge man, 64, reports home invasion by 2 men, 1 woman » Knoxville News Sentinel) . I feel it is not enough to have just a pistol on my night stand. I want to find a 12 ga pump to full primary roll to live beside my bed to be at the ready. I will list my idea. Let me know of any cons that go with my ideas and if you have a better idea let me know as well. I am not ready to ready for Class 3 yet shorty yet. So I want to look at as close to Class 3 as I can go with out stepping over the line, just to see what is available. So What is available in 12 ga pump, that has at least 18 inch barrel and at least 26 inches long but not much more? I also need price ranges. (Might have to use it in a phone booth so to speak some day)
  4. I am reading the warrant now, that link works for me, the last one would not open yesterday.
  5. 1. Does not mean he was guilty of anything either. 2. Remember he was in his home, his castle if you will. Watch the video of the officers entering again, from the time the officer steps in, it does not appear there is time to give a person time to surrender. door broke at 34 seconds shoots start about 41 seconds. If the siren had woke him up he might have just be getting to his feet trying to figure out what the hell was going on. (keep in mind we are all second guessing arm chairing this) We don't know have the full story of what happened in that house, don't have Jose's side. We only have the one side of the story and they saw muzzle flashes. If one swat team member had a camera outside, it makes me wonder if any one on the inside had a camera and audio recorder? Put yourself in a slightly different situation, legal search warrant, but wrong home, (your home 2 a.m.) (mistakes happen) Anyone of us might have got up and grabbed our 12 Ga to see what was going on and it could have us on the wrong side of swat with only seconds to not get shot.
  6. That's it, I certainly don't want to get in a fight with one of these honorable men. Not that I go looking for fights but come on. those 2 certainly stand out.
  7. I wonder if SWAT inside the home had cameras to confirm what they saw/heard. I know this is a bit late at this point. I have been working 6 day weeks and been really tried after work. Questions like this come up at work and I have to just sit on it while at work. I am almost done with this. I went back and found the links to the warrant, however it would not load for me. In that story I posted, there is this here, Seems one officer thought he saw the flashes first and first 9 or 10 times, fell while reloading which made the other officers think he was hit so they returned fire. They thought they hear shots. ( may have been echo's since we know Jose's gun never came off safety) SWAT: We said, 'Open up' at least twice (same link I used before)
  8. I started to right a long winded story, but then to get back to the topic I believe I can cut it short. Only for Non violent offenders and then with special restrictions that need not be applied. Sorry about your father. When he gets out he would be considered a violent offender at least and I would say NO. But someone that has been non violent, there could perhaps be a process to allow them to regain the right. I am not saying an over night process. Maybe a graduation type process to regain for only non violent felons. Maybe X time probation with with. X time they are only allowed to have 1 for home defense and since they are a felony it must be registered as part of the process. After X period of time with no problems they may be allowed to gain a better status and maybe a HCP/CC. (however I know something like this would never happen). It would be political suicide.

    Today in History

It took, real guts to storm those beaches. They knew we were coming and they had time to get ready. The Friday night out drinking I met a Vet from WW2, we got to talking and I thanked him for his service. He stayed in though Vietnam. I offered to buy his rounds but his polity declined.
  10. I lost mine opening the vault. Back in the day when they didn't destroy crime guns. So when did the ghost of crime get attached to guns anyways? People seem to act like there are ghost attached to the gun used in a bloody murder so the gun must be destroyed now days. BTW, I don't subscribe to any line of thought like that.
  11. Yea I figured that out from the first time I saw the commercial I figured it was akin to gambling and I am surprised they have not been shutdown yet. I have seen very smart people not figure it out and are all over it. I even over heard the pharmacists at Walgreens talking about it. I figured they would no better. I guess not.
  12. It is one of those, back up against the wall moments, or in his case, surrounded and fight or die. He was going to fight to the end. Saying this with all due respect, I heard a saying years ago that hold true. It is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog. (I just checked and I believe that is Mark Twain). Besides doing what was needed, there is another lesson people are forgetting to take from this story. The moral of the story, never leave your knife behind. You never know when you might need it.
  13. one thing you have to remember about streaming sources, you are depending on someone with a home scanner board casting correctly. You are solely depending on how they are programmed and how their scanning it set. Example. Oak Ridge. They guy that streams Oak Ridge is set pretty good, I have a few more things in my actually scanner that I want that he does not have in the board cast stream. Because I consider them important to me. Plus I have my banks setup so that I can turn off certain things if I don't want to hear them. I can turn on a Bank to bring in EMS if I believe something is going on with EMS i want to hear, another bank if I want to hear County and Life Star. However I don't always want to hear them so I can turn them back off easy. Setting up a scanner comes down to the way you want it for yourself. The way I want mine might drive another person crazy.
  14. welcome neighbor.
  15. I have listened to some and they will be talking normal and they will say switch, and it will encrypted for a bit, and later it will be in the clear.
  16. Well, since this thread came back up. I have the Tactical Gear Luggage for you. Suitcase Coat - avoid baggage fees big downside is does not appear to be available yet. I know I saw this on TV awhile back. I believe it was expensive but I am not certain since the price is not listed.
  17. BTW, a good app for droids is Scanner Radio, However don't use it in KY. Man Charged With Possession Of Illegal App - The RadioReference.com Forums I really should look for the update on this story. In some area's it is illegal to monitor police radio in your car/truck. KY is one of those area. Some Cities in TN have City ordinance on it as well I believe.
  18. I listen to a scanner and hear some good stuff. However they do use in car computer for sensitive stuff. Example, I hear them call, give some details, and say I put the details on your screen. Car to Car is better. Or an event that is happing to fast for dispatchers to put it on screen and it just needs to be said. However I understand they are switching to digital radios in some areas, and radio shack already sells digital scanners. I don't have one of those yet. I am waiting until my area goes digital before I buy one. Also I do know some areas that that are analog can encrypt on the fly if they have the right device. I have some go secure and I can not understand what they are saying. It is illegal to decrypt encrypted transmissions. However, those that are broadcast in the clear it is OK to pick up such as buying as scanner from radio shack or other vendor and using as intended. If you really want to learn about this topic, radioreference.com is very good. I know FEMA gave allot of cities grants to switch to LOW BAND digital so allot of departments are in the process of switching over. I don't want to buy one of the digitals if they are totally scrambled after the switch. So I am waiting to find out until after they switch and I find out from other people. In short I won't be the first to buy in my area.
  19. SWAT: We said, 'Open up' at least twice June 4th it has been a month after these 4 raids and no arrests. I am not sold on they have solid proof. Since they didn't have enough to arrest anyone on the spot or even a month later. Yet this man is dead.
  20. have not read the warrant, from what I read I thougth that meant they were sealed and unavailable to the general public. If they are available I would like to see them.
  21. like I was saying, I think it comes down to the phone choices. I started to get it. But at the time the phone I wanted was not available. So phone choice was how they got me. So I end up paying extra for nothing more then the phone I carry I believe.
  22. So far I haven't heard anything illegal was found at Jose Guerena's place. If that was directed at me, I was talking about options other then using a SWAT team to break into a home (unknown situation) when they could maybe defused the situation outside if time was not an issue. Surprise the person (suspect) outside their home. When a crime has been commented, police work should start with interviews, evidence. When they have enough for a warrant if time is not an issue they should put the place under surveillance so they know what situation they are putting they agents into plus they could limit risk as much as possible for all involved. They could even go so far as to maybe detain the person away from the home turning the search if they feel there is a risk, which they seemed to have felt there was high level of risk for a highly armed swat team in this case. Not the other way around, suspect a crime, get a warrant, toss place look for evidence. (I wish I was a skilled writer)
  23. if you are happy with the phone choice probably OK, check the coverage area. Looks OK. Some phones are not available, like my droidx and droidCharge. I bet the iphones are not available as well. I have not checked. So I guess some people have to pay the extra if they want the fancy phones and and data, you have to go direct to the carrier is my guess for those and that is how they really get you. But if you are happy with the phones walmart has available, then probably by all means. full disclaimer I have not fully read the walmart deal, just the surface.
  24. sounds like a trick. he probably drives a van too.
  25. vendor shot himself in the hand. See besides the gun show rules. He broke 3 gun safe rules to shoot himself in the hand.
