Myself, I've shot allot of single shot hunting shot guns over the years. Never owned a pump before this one but I knew I needed one. I got out today and got to shot it. I took it up to my uncles, just another place I go to shoot besides Norris. I setup 4 cans about 15 and 20 yards. I put 5 shells in it. Mind you this was for the first rounds though the gun. I hit all 4, then went back to the first can and nailed it for a second time. I went though those 4 targets/5 shots in about 8 seconds. I didn't time it, but Just as fast as I could work it, and draw down on the next can. (I had spread them out about 5 yards a part) I figured that was not bad for the first time with a pump action. My Uncle was impressed that for an 18 inch, no choke it held a nice pattern at 15-20 yards. I put about 30 rounds though it today, both shoulder aim fire and firing as if someone were coming in and I had to shoot from the hip. I have to say, if I could have tried this gun before buying, it would have removed all doubt that I was buying the correct one. I know I got exactly what I needed.

goto Feed Archives for: Oak Ridge Police and Fire in the archives for Oak Ridge on 6/10/2011 time frame about 12:02 a.m. to 12:32 playing about 12:21:41 a.m. they had a report of one stolen BEER, (singular) archives are only available for about a week, but if you hear something good, you can download it from the site. I had to download this one. First thing I ever downloaded, several officers looking for a guy that may have stole 1 beer. Good use of my tax dollars. At todays gas prices I am sure they spent more in fuel alone looking then the beer was worth.

I know, exactly what you are saying and in short already started showing my wife that in dry fire mode several hours ago. Going to get it out to the range as soon as we can to try it out as time permits.

Jeffl, you are right on the money there. I was thinking about some kind of 12 ga ight loads for my wife to practice with. Not sure if any place local sells them that I could pick up tomorrow. OS might not reminder but he met me at least once. I am pretty big guy; Not at tall as he is, but 300 plus pounds, so the recoil has it work cut out with me.

OS, I will probably try a 3 inch buckshot to try it but you are right, I will probably keep 2 3/4 as I have to keep it loaded for my wife to shoot it. I don't want her more afraid of the gun then someone that might break in. I am going to have her practice with birdshot. Thanks for confirming. Always best to know and have someone double check before going out to shoot a new gun.

Yup, I plan to add a light to be next. As people have told me, the most terrifying sound a burglar can hear is a shot gun pump, and I have corrected them by saying in my house that is not the sound this first burglar will hear. If there is a second burglar he may hear BOOM, and the pump before shot 2.

I need to confirm something on 12ga cylinder bore. In short, from what I have read, a cylinder bore has no choke so I should be able to shoot any 3inch 12 ga shells I want from bird shot, buckshot to slugs right? Rem 870, 12ga cyl bore. 18 in barrel. I have not found in the owner's manual types of shells, I know the chamber is 2 3/4 and 3 inch. I will probably use birdshot at the range to get the feel for the gun, but buckshot is what I will most likely have loaded it in at home.

after putting several in my hand, some Mossberg 88's, 500's, rem. 870's I almost got 88 for good price, but I found a Rem 870 that just called to me. I felt the 88 would do what I wanted it for, I just didn't like the location of the safety on the 500's and knowing how I am later I might want to modify it, the 88 would be limited and that was my decision to go with the 870. I will tell you, other then the location of the safety, I really liked the 590a1. The Rem 870 I got has black synthetic, 18 inch Barrel 12 Ga, CYL bore, and has a factory 2 shot extended mag tube. The Safety is just like my hunting rifle I am ready to go test it out.

I like that none of the above. That is sometimes the correct answer on tests. It should be at the polls tool. I might use that as a write in on something that does not matter much.

Counter Protest - Westboro Baptist Church Monday 2:00pm
vontar replied to MrDigitaL's topic in General Chat
I fully understand that word, however one might best not use that option, sit on jury and vote not guilty if WB had a civil suit for money against someone IMHO. Keep in mind, I am not a lawyer. -
well said, that is why at the last minute I know better then to go. I look at the list. I see thing I like but I don't have time to dig up prices and then devalue for condition on the spot. I don't want to pay new price for used at an auction.

I believe they are talking about hair clips at least that is what my wife says. Hell she even corrects me if I slip up and say clip. I have taught her well. If I had more then a night to go over this and it wasn't for the gun show tomorrow I would probably like to check this out. However I don't have time to do it. However, I see a few things I would probably bid on.

2 Guns Found Wrapped In Flag At Manchester Hotel
vontar replied to MikePapa1's topic in General Chat
I second that emotion. wait, sorry but 1 in the chamber and 2 in the mag is how Pros do it? Sounds like we all have them pros out gunned for sure or we are loaded incorrectly or something. -
I am home now, I forgot to say, I planned CC and I don't believe anyone noticed, even after several hugs.(May have been close with the hugs) I leaned in with my left side as I had not planned on that. I had a hunting buddy after ask me if I was carrying after and I said yup and that was all that was said. He already knew I carried.

thanks I had a few minutes before heading out so I tried to search the normal places I could not find much either A Debate Over Guns in a Kentucky Church - NYTimes.com this link says this one goes back to like 1996 or 1998 saying no, but no links stating it. KY: Guns are illegal in churches [Archive] - OpenCarry.org - Discussion Forum Handgunlaw.us does not say Churches are off limits- seems they are not addressed. Anyways, later, I have to hit the road. I have some driving in front of me.

vontar replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have an idea, You may or may not like this. She should follow the case very closely and prepare to write a book. And I swear you guys should CUT ME IN on this if it works. Potential Juror, the case of .... You know how allot of high profile cases Jury members write books after wards. She can write a book on it. Hey it is a long shot but she is kinda linked. -
The Constitution vs The Constitution, proud of my wife
vontar replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Dolomite nailed it. Both sides try to stack the jury. They probably figured your wife knew the law better then average joe. As for jury duty your wife did her duty by showing up when summoned. I wonder if she still has to call in for figure cases or was she totally jury season. I know different counties handle jury duty differently. Such as was she just released for this case and would she maybe be expected to appear for other cases? A person(the accused) has a right to be trial by jury, no one has a right to sit on jury just a duty to appear when summoned. However, being asking about your personal firearms in open court for jury duty selection like that is what bothers me more then anything. This is worse then the doctors form we have discussed we it asks if there are firearms in the home. Here she had to tell the truth in open court about her husbands personal firearms. No were in the constitution. Closest you will get is 6th amendment That has been amended per wiki, (cheating here) so the jury can be selected from were the trial is held. CCW Permits Up in Sacramento, California? Who'd a Thunk It?
vontar replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
they did say they have never had anyone shot by a CCW holder. Last year they only approved 12 permits. This year over 800 so far. -
OK, I have allot of information to go though and that is what I wanted. This is why I didn't just rush out and buy the first one I saw. Mike, you are right, most of the break ins are probably want you stated but I have the green light from my wife to add a firearm because of them so I am. I don't believe am not a shady person but that last one was about 5 blocks away from us, and others have been about 5 blocks in another direction. I am going to look at the Moss 500 and Rem 870. Which every I get I Will probably end up with accessories down the road. I will need to put some in my hand and see how they feel before I made a decision. Check how many rounds they hold, price, maybe check for used. I believe there is gun show this weekend as well.
