  1. don't lose your head over a piece of tail
  2. Note, several people reported and called officers. Something was going on to concern more then one person to call in. Even if it had an orange tip, an officer can not always go by that as any one can paint a real gun to try and confuse an officer and the officers know this. I am not going to place blame here. I was not there. If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck....
  3. About a year before Katrina on Discovery or one of the related channels there was a show that talked about what would happen if New Orleans was ever hit by a Hurricane and how in recorded history it has never happened. Then about a year later Katrina hit and it was almost to the letter. Seems they did a similar what would happen if New York was hit and they talked about the subways would flood
  4. 100 percent right.
  5. the one at buds is ADJUSTABLE SIGHTS, so a thougth would be get it and pay the transfer/tics and still be around 300 if your heart is set on MKIII, however there are several models of the MKIII so check them out. Myself I don't care for the stainless, just blued is fine for me.
  6. I am curious were you got a quote out the door for 300 on the MKIII. The best I saw one for about 310 plus tax and tic. It was just before I decided to get my HCP and I have not seen that deal since. Edit, I just checked Buds and found a pretty good deal on one I might have to pick me one up. Ruger 22/45 Mark III 22LR for 259. BTW, Dad had a Ruger .22 he has had for about 36 years. He brought it when I was a baby. It looks like it has been though a war. He once dropped it in a barrel of acid at work. It was the only time it was every fully taken apart and cleaned. I used it to take my HCP class and It shoots very well to this day. Dads would be considered today a Mark1 but it was made before they had MarkII and III, so it would be the Great one, sort of like the soldiers that fought in WWI did not call it WWI, but the Great War.
  7. Will have to see how this turns out. Seems strange the deputy had a .22. The only charge for the suspects that I feel might not be valid would be fleeing an officer since the officer was most likely not in uniform. (nothing to do with the motel), just figure not in an official uniform and car the way it reads. Seriously who tries to mug an officer and what officers in uniform carries a .22? I am pretty sure the suspects had no idea it was an officers. I would be interested in why he was firing in a busy parking lot but not touching that, as we have discussed such numberous times and I don't want to take this down the wrong road with the LEO's and get my foot stepped on here on the board for bashing. I will just hope the shots were clear but sounds like the suspects were retreating. This is is edit after I read the second story. However for the officer I hope they do recover the weapon to at least match his story.
  8. Fine, get me a ma deuce, belt fed. It only holds like a couple in the gun. The rest are external on the belt. Plus it is only NFA, class 3.
  9. That would be fun. To far away for me though.
  10. I hear Cuba is making a token offer send foreign aid workers and Mexico is sending Mexicans. China still says we owe them Money.
  11. Lester, it sounds like my Truck, but hey it is paid for and it still gets me A to B and back to A. Minor repairs at this point are still far cheaper then payments.
  12. Shoot the cheap ammo and pay for it later. Take care of your guns and get years of joy out of them. Just better ammo and a little less cleaning. I only have corrosive ammo for my Mosin. 17 cents a round. not bad.
  13. Actually I would settle for a truly fair and in the middle writer. Also isn't there such a thing as Sunshine laws in this state. Seems like they did this behind closed doors as no one knew about it until they dropped it on us. I would have went to both of those meeting had I knew about them a head of time. I would have just needed enough time to drive to them. I really wanted to hunt wild hog this year as I had never done it before.
  14. I will bet you it USES oil. it may not burn it and a chance you don't leak. To prove this. Drain the oil and start it up and see how long it runs. My uncle always uses that one when someone says their car/truck does not use oil.
  15. Justice wasn't as swift in the east as it was in the "wild west".' If you are curious, the last public execution in the USA was in Owensboro KY in 1936. It was a Hanging for a murder and rape. Back on topic, I take my pistols walking with me, I figure they need the exercise just as much as me.
  16. That crossed my mind as well instead of the gun shop handing them a loaded gun.
  17. Sounds about Right. Hot soapy water. Then just hot water. After hoppes and light oil to prevent rust. I have been doing that to my Mosin. I take it apart down to the metal. You know you don't want to get any of that on the wood or other finish of your gun. When I first got my Mosin it took me a while to strip it down, now I do it in no time. I am about to buy another one just to clean it and to see what I get. It is almost a game to see what model you get. Like putting a big quarter in a vending machine and seeing what falls out.
  18. Justification for use of force — Exceptions — Immunity from civil liability. this has been discussed allot on the board. I don't fully remember the details but you almost need to be charged with a crime and then win. But if it was a clear Self Defense and the DA does not proceed to trial you don't get a Justification of use of force or something like that. So what we have seen is the DA normally does not take those Self Defense cases to court so there is no "not guilty verdict" ruled to weaken the civil case. Also I am not a lawyer and I have not stayed as a hotel in a while.
  19. Cool, never brought 2 hand guns that close to each other, have brought 2 rifles on the same day though.
  20. I am going down Sunday to look around. Going to try to find a holster for my Judge that I like. I guess they will put a zip tie on me at the door so I better unload at my truck. Seems I have heard that before.
  21. I took my wifes car to the ford dealer as we had the coupon book for free oil changes. Never once form 31,000 miles up did they not tell me we needed to change the brake fluid. Actually, every time I was in there they alway at least someone else the same line and dance. They could some out with this board that had a sample they said of your cars fluid and what clean fluid should look like and tell you all about why you should change each. Hell they even show you anti freeze and tell you it is dirt and I believe wiper fluid. I started to ask were the headlight fluid was on the board. He probably would have told me that was an extra charge just to check it. (I have never each on purpose totally drained brake fluid and replaced, I am not talking about bleeding brakes and topping off) I bet my 21 year old Thunder-bird probably has the original ford brake fluid it left the ford factory with, although I can not be certain as I did not own it for the first 7 years. (I need to bleed it's brake now for the first time due to a mistake I made changing the brake another long story by it's self) The biggest ride they took me for was when they talked me into changing transmission fluid and I new it was time for it. After it was said and done and I had agreed the price was with in reason. I found out they had not dropped the pan and changed the field. They had only back pressured the lines. He said Ford only recommends actually changing the trans. filter ever 3rd time and he was saving me money. Horse . Next time it was due for trans. fluid change I took it to another shop that I knew and for cheaper I had the pan dropped and a new Ford filter put in cheaper then letting ford just back wash it thought the cooler lines. Then when I was in for an oil change they brought out a sample of trans fluid with the miles and said you need to change this I said I just had that changed with a new filter. He was more upset that I had a new filter put in then I called him out on the sample fluid. (transmission fluid when changed normally leaves a couple quarts in the torque converter unless you pay to have the pumped out as well. Mose places I have talked with recommend leaving some of the old fluid in with the new and the filter takes care of it, which is why I wanted a new filter instead of just a back wash that ford service did. In short, putting new clean fluid in a used engine/trans after driving for a few weeks to the eye it won't look new any more. However that does not mean it is not doing it's job. One can not just look at it and tell but they use that sample board to convince customers they are doing the right thing. Changing fluids on a vehicle you plan to keep it not going to hurt it, however shopping around line anything else you will probably find better deals. I am still burned that they did not change the filter as part of the transmission fluid change service as I expected. I guess I did no ask enough question and they were not forth coming enough. However any other place I had ever been too changing transmission fluid included a filter. Had I known I would have took it to the place I knew and got it done the way I wanted, with a filter, as I later found out ford would have changed an extra 100 or so to include dropping the pan and putting a filter in.
  22. Isoroku Yamamoto - Wikiquote under Misattributed. Both the blade of grass and waking a sleeping gaint are listed as Misattributed.. However we know he was educated in the US. However they fit with some of his other knows quotes, so it is possible the source has just been lost to history and prehaps he did say them.
  23. GA is still eye-balling at our river! You know, had they just ask for some water it would have been one thing but they want to just take. Last year when they were flooding, I wanted to turn the whole dam river lose on them and wait for them to beg us to take it back.
  24. No, he had to stop to reload. You see, the shop owner was going duck hunting the next day so he configured his self defense shot gun for only 3 shells as he is a law abiding citizen. You know because for migrating birds you can only have 3 shells in the gun. Lucky for him the thugs did not know this and they ran away before he could reload.
  25. I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting Read. My guess is she will need to talk to a Lawyer.
