Got pulled over this morning with handgun in vehicle
vontar replied to 93civEJ1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Question is, how long did you have to wait for the officer? I would not have wanted to wait beside the road unarmed with my pistol in the box. Just thinking, what if the wrong people showed up to claim said package and didn't like you watching it and wanted to make trouble and your pistol is now in the box. PD is minutes away. -
Me too. I was expecting to get to pick between to sets of pictures and decide which is real and which isn't. Then we could all have a good laugh at the end. Maybe I should start that thread later. the website in the video is real, probably still a hoax for public shock effect.

I assume the guardsmen must have been disarmed for our safety which made them sitting ducks as well. When news about this hit at work, I told a co worker that unxpected events like this is exactly why I carry.

Police have video of fatal liquor store shootout
vontar replied to MikePapa1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So who is starting the face book group on this and going to Lobby the state to make a Law to execute armed robbers? Treat them as if they had killed someone. I could get behind that. Thin out the prison of future criminals -

It very easy to get stopped, the closer your right foot gets to the floor the easier. Hehe. I just had to work that in there. Same number yes, but unless they call in and check for a HCP which is separate check they don't find out. I have a scanner at home and that is not normally ask for. However when you show them your DL and HCP you are probably going to remind them to ask if you have any firearms in your car/truck if they have not already ask if you have any firearms. Personally I have never been stopped with out being ask if I had any firearms. Never been stopped since I got my HCP though. However, if there is a GUN they come to know about, they always call in SN and check for stolen and check the HCP to see if valid. So I have a feeling if I am checked locally I would be disarmed and checked. My thing is going to be if they stop me and I answer yes and I have a long guns in a case in the back, I am not going to to be willing to let them open the case to check it just because they want to run the SN numbers (4th amendment, I do not consent.) I probably won't be able to do anything about them checking my pistol. Probably would not win on the gun in the case either. So just keep it around the speed limit and try to no get stopped. -
Not a lawyer, but I think I would get a lawyer and try to appeal that there was not intent to operate the car on the grounds that he was in the back seat. That seems like an unfair DUI. I found similar here. Charged With DUI for Sleeping in a Car Here a person won an appeal with the engine running (running the heater while waiting on a AAA due to a flat tire on the ground it was some how clear he had no intention to operate the car because he had already called AAA. I would think your cousin's ground would be clear he had no intention to operate being in the back seat of a parked car sleeping. If someone fails to have a back up plan home, at least they stayed off the road.

This fits me best as well. I don't like what we sent to DC any more. When they spend millions on running for office, for a job that is not worth millions that just proves the level of corruption.

ok, so a resident shoots an oncoming intruder
vontar replied to 1pointofview's topic in General Chat
Curiousgb said it all, I started reading this and I remember a post that either OS or Jamie made about that deputy. I believe it was that case where a FL man shot that deputy at the front door and it was considered still on the front porch. Just cover your entire yard with a TENT attached to your home, problem solved. -
Gun Rack in back window of a truck
vontar replied to vontar's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I am in agreement, can be legal, but it is bait to be pulled over and if left in a parked truck chance of theft go up. I would not do it either. Also, walmart still sells them, I considered buying one a year go, but I can't drive 20 miles in one direction with out a school zone. I can not get to either gun range I use with out going though school zones. As a kid, almost everyone had them, dad used them for hunting only but the racks were in his truck always. -
U.S. Authorities Investigate Incursion by Mexican Federal Police
vontar replied to QuietDan's topic in General Chat
Fired shots at the hunters and stole their chairs. I guess they need chairs in Mexico for the drug lords. If Mexico does not put a stop to this we are going to take another territory. Or should I say another independent nation might raise up like Texas did. If they keep messing with Texas the new Texas Hunting license will include drug smugglers from Mexico. -
traffic problem that appeared to be created by 2 police cars
vontar replied to vontar's topic in General Chat
Allot has happened since yesterday and this drive(another post coming). I wasn't exactly taking notes or video. So I don't want to name one city or county over another or say both were the same. In short, I am trying not to bash to hard only describe what I saw and give the general events. I believe it was one county and one city unit though. I know exactly were they were. I did not see any sign of an accident that may have occurred which of course is not to say a rapid response team had not cleaned it up with nascar pit crew efficiency and left the 2 officers behind doing paper work. As soon as we got past the 2 cars the interstate was wide open again and traffic resumed normal flow. The location was Just north of Lake City at the Emergency turn around between the abandon rest area or weight station and they had the traffic backed up to the Lake city On ramp. Had I seen the back up about 15 seconds quicker I would have used the exit at Lake city and drove to Lafollete on the old road. I saw cars coming up the On ramp to the interstate that saw the back up turn around and go back to Lake city. My opinion is they were trying to make sure traffic was not speeding but they should not have had their lights on, just the sight of their cars would have been enough. -
traffic problem that appeared to be created by 2 police cars. I don't know what to make of this, but I was not happy being in middle of it. In my opinion were causing a Hazard on the interstate. I am not going to give an exact location and I don't know if they were City or County. I think one of each. I was going North Bound on I75. I had just passed an one exit and the next exit would be several miles. Suddenly traffic started backing up. I was like O there has probably been an accident. Traffic went down to 10 MPH. for about 2 miles. I am telling you, before traffic was flowing smooth, no signs of trouble Then we saw the problem. Right in the middle of the interstate was 2 LE Cars with their Emergency light on. Once turned Broadway from the south side to the North bound lane and the other point north. So traffic was slowing down and trying to give them room. Turns out they were just sitting there, no accident or anything. One I am glad there was no accident but what they caused was a clumping of traffic that was backing up at least 1 or 2 miles. They were not trying to pull out or anything. I mean if they had a legit reason for being there, it was not clear, this is part of the reason I am not posting a location. We did not see any wreaked cars, or any other vehicles off to the side of the road. I had concerns that it was going to cause that fast interstate traffic coming up behind to re end the slow cars up front that could not get out of the way. Before everyone says it was the other drivers fault, I believe the drivers were trying to Obey the law, under the [h=1]Move Over Law that TN passed. So by them having their lights on they created a problem forcing everyone to try to obey that law and thus created a traffic hazard. Move Over Law [/h]

I had the same thought. -
I wanted to respond this with out hi jacking the other thread. I keep seeing this come up. I agree it is too temping for a theft and it would just be bait to be one pulled over. From what reading I have found the problem would be crossing any school zones having a long gun that is not in a case. Gun Free School Zones - Calguns Wiki A few weeks ago, I did see a gun driving with a rifle in his back window between Lafollette and Harrogate. I followed him for about 15 miles. I can't find any about them being totally illegal though but I am not expert. Dad used to live in Illinois and he moved from there about them time they changed a law that made them illegal there.

Been once. that was enough, The traffic was bad enough trying to leave.

Well she didn't feel to threaten if she didn't call the police on your and yours Maybe she was a vegetarian and realized she went to the wrong restaurant.
-
There are cases were flashing head lights could be totally warranty though. Such as an accident or other road hazards around a sharp curve and you try to get on coming cars to slow down before they come up on it.

TGO David, your signature quote is one of the best I have seen in a long dam time. I am going to steal that for my google plus site.

Goes to prove, One person can make a difference. -
Kinda like an amusement park. People don't don't die at the park, the injured are removed by paramedics where they was pronounced dead offsite? I think I want to leave in my living will to never by pronounced that way I can live for ever and cheat death.

Flash your Head Lights in Fl. to warn other drivers of Speed traps and get a ticket. If it not against the law and you will get a ticket. Take it to court and the judge will toss it under freedom of speech. However they will keep writing the tickets There is a class action lawsuit to try and stop it. Class-action suit filed against cops Headlight flash cop warning: Is flashing your headlights illegal or a free speech issue? - Orlando Sentinel As co worker and I talked about it and my co worker put it this way. He said the point of a speed trap should be to get traffic to slow down and not to fund the budget. So if other cars warn other drivers about a speed trap and they slow down the primary mission is still down. If Law enforcement is upset that they are not able to fund their budget by writing speeding ticket and are now writing these non moving violations in place of the speeding tickets seems they are less concerned with safety and more concerned with the budget anyways which proves the the whole point that they are not out to begin with trying to get people to slow down for safety but only to raise money. Per wiki, I always considered it might be against the law so I won't speak about myself however I just looked at wiki there is a break down by state. Wiki thinks FL it is against the law. Also, I would not bet the farm on wiki as a legal source.

For Reference on this topic "Can We Tape?" state by state guide BTW, if it happens in public, I feel it should be legal. They should not fear the camera. They should welcome the camera as the camera only records the truth right? I mean they aren't doing anything wrong. "Can We Tape?"
