You will never have decent sound quality with an FM transmitter. The signal to noise ratio on FM modulation is abysmal.
guess I never noticed over the sound of the road , motor noises, and wind.
A couple years ago a guy in his 20s was accompanied by his mother when he came to a job interview with the company I work for. And this was for a physical, outdoor type job. He didn't get the job. It made me wonder, at what age does one become an adult in today's world. I think some don't make it.
That is how it should be, you go to an interview alone. You don't even take a GF or wife with you. An interview is when a person had better dam well be able to stand alone, even if the job is team work. I have heard of cases where a mom has complained to a boss because their kid didn't get good of a raise.

another option to consider. FM transmitter. example http://www.amazon.com/EZOPower-Stereo-Transmitter-Charger-Licensed/dp/B004JGVZ3M/ref=sr_1_fed1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1355193038&sr=8-4&keywords=apple+radio+transmitter I don't have an Iphone and I don't have this brand. I have used some cheap ones over their years and they always worked well.

That is an oldie but goodie.

R_bert I believe you nailed it with that.

Ouch.

Sam, I can agree with that. For the past while I have been buying 1 or 2 boxes per trip to WalMart. Normally I try to avoid that place so I actually don't have allot. Only about half of my Goal.
One thing the video didn't mention - I got my butt busted when I got in trouble, smacked in mouth when I back talked, and often had to pick out a switch to be used on the back of my bare legs. I survived and learned a valuable lesson too.
Let me guess, if you didn't bring back a good switch they got the best one right?

This is not to get people up in arms and concerned about ammo but people must be buying it up for Christmas presents is all I can think. My WalMart in Oak Ridge is very short on ammo. They have no .22 LR or Mag They still had some other stuff but the shelves are looking bare behind the glass where their should be allot of ammo. Hoping this is just my Walmart. Glad I have a supply at home. I had wanted to double what I have. Now I fee bad about going out last week and running 300 rounds playing with a Taico-Squires Bingham Model 16

Thank you. I will call them when I am done there. Thursday/Friday would probably be my best chance to head over that way. I will plan to call them Wednesday.

Yes, I made it. (I see the generation after mine as the entitled and not my fault generation.) BTW, the no child left behind, well they are entering the work force and it is clear they don't put in much effort.
Just wanted to point out the article said they give tours March through November.
darn. I guess I should go ask for a job then.
Not pride swallowing. Reasonable thinking, and good judgment. Good for you, and for her. You did very well!
Second that thought. Yup, no matter how much you like 1911, when it comes to your wife have to get one that both fits her hands and that she links. Now after you give it to her, both of you need to spend some quality time sending lead down range.
You could stop off here on the way.. notice the officer toward the end said it belongs in a museum not a shredder. That tells me the other guns are going to a shredder. Also, if there are no questions ask at these buy back programs how did they know who turned it in?
We wanted to get away froma land line years ago, but because where we live, the only way to have high speed internet at a reasonable price was through one provider, a phone company. We were able to drop all of the features for the home land line, we no longer have caller id, call block, mo maintenance, no rental, etcs. and turned off the capability to call long distance. I think our basic charge is ~$18 mo, however with our high speed internet, and that we have bumped it up 2X since we got 7+ years ago to very high speeds, I think we pay close to $35 + the land line. Love to drop the land line, but we can't. We use our cell phones 99% of the time, and our land line rarely rings, maybe a few times a week. Since we do have small children, and they could call 911 in an emergency, it is comforting to know that we have land line phone in a permanent place, becuase the cell phones can be anywhere at anytime.
If the phone company is AT&T, you might be able. Over 8 years ago I worked for BellSouth DSL support and I know in some markets they did what they called DSL service with no POTS (Plain old Telephone System). This could also be called Naked DSL. I know it is possible if the carry will do it. I know back then they offered in in FL. I know I kept saying I would take DSL if I could get it with out POTS but since I couldn't I have been with Comcast for years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_DSL

What is a good size for a BOB? recommendations
vontar replied to vontar's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Moped, you are right on 2 packs. I don't expect my wife to be able to carry much. I had a plan for a second smaller pack for her. Looking over what I have done in the past, has really been a Get Home Back. I like some of what Lester pointed out and I do believe having a larger then I need pack even if I don't need all the extra room is a good idea. (better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it). I have been looking over routes if I had to travel by foot and figuring time. I would really need to establish a cache along the way or live off the land to get to where I would really want to get too. (on top of all that, I really need to get in better shape.) Lose 20 pounds and it would be easier to carry 20 pounds. -
not ruling it out but probably won't be shooting this trip. Not going to haul ammo, cleaning supplies. I wish I could get up toward Nashville this trip. In short my wife has a business trip and I am just tagging along. Last year it was in Nashville and I found my way to the strip and I want to get back. I will probably check out The Outpost Armory since they carry Barett rifles I believe. At least get to see one up close. Making a list The geographic center of the state is there. Stones river battlefield George Dickel getting some idea going now. I know 100 percent certain 1 place I am going. I am going to Dairy Queen every day I am down there. I don't have one in a reasonable drive and well, I am going to do some damage to some blizzards.

Garfua--probably too much. 72 hours is my idea pack. However I do have to plan for 2 people. -
Come about 45 minutes south on 24 & visit the George Dickel distillery, another 20 minutes & there's Jack Daniel's. I think you can get a tour of the Barrett factory?
I might go to George Dickel, I went to Jack Daniels last spring and enjoyed it. As for Barrett, last year when I was in Nashville I was going to drive down to Barrett but there was no open to the public tours then. Has that changed? I remember I believe there was a gun shop that sold Barrett rifles. Anyone know if there is a place you can pay to shoot a Barrett? pretty sure I can't afford to buy one.

Just wondering, what is there to do in Murfreesboro? I have never been there and I don't have any real plans. Pretty much going to have about 2 days there. Anything I should be sure to see/do while there?

I mean, the measurements don't mean allot to me when shopping on line. One, I am a big guy and I can carry a load. I know largest isn't necessary when packed correctly but I want to make sure I have enough room to get the job done. Examples Between 2 like this. Capacity: 30L; Dimensions: approx. 42x20x25cm (16.5"x8.0"x9.8") Capacity: 50L; Dimensions: approx. 51x29x28cm (20.1"x11.4"x11.1") I can tell the second one is clearly bigger. What I am wondering if someone can show me some bags that are about the right size and perhaps you might even have some links to some good ones. I don't have to have the most expensive by any means, just built well and have good storage. Right now, sad to say my only BOB is an old supply army backpack I have had for years. Not sure what they are called but one large pouch(or compartment) and shoulder straps. I believe it is a Army Surplus Duffle Bag, load at the top.

my suggestion is still the same, something along the lines of a hand crank radio that can double as a cell phone charge. This is one example but there are any others. I do not own any yet but I plan to have on in the near future. http://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-Emergency-Flashlight-Certified/dp/B0071BTJPI/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1

I have have had both the USB only Magic Jack and I now have the one with USB or Ethernet jack magic jack. I have to say, Magic Jack worked for me just like the commercial. I am very happy with. When they came out with the Ethernet one that you just plug in to your router and the PC was not required to me on it really improved it. I have left home with my Magic Jack and used it out on the road a few times, no issues.\ I believe the ethernet model is like 70 bucks and it included the first year of service. Voice over IP is not going to work on Satellite internet just in case you have that. I don't know the mininal internet speed required, I have Cable internet so speed isn't an issue for me. As for
I know we will be giving up 911 service
When I setup my magic jack it had me put in information for 911, my street address and such so that they could contact the correct 911 system (I believe). However internet goes out, phones will go out. Unlike normal phones that normally operate several hours after a power failure.

In case anyone wants to try to take a moment of silence tomorrow, consider 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time, 12:48 p.m. eastern I believe. I don't know which boat but I had an uncle in the North Atlantic on a Sub during WW2.
