  1. You folks are on my list!
  2. I had a crisis and had to come to work for a while today. My near 14 yr old is chompin' at the bit for me to get back home so he can try out his new muzzel loader. We couldn't fire it yesterday cause Santa (being ignorant of muzzel loaders) forgot primers. We'll smoke up the back yard shortly. The last time we were shooting in the yard, a deputy came to see about us. He knew we were okay to be shooting in the county (Hamilton), but he had a complaint and had to come see. That is the first time that ever happened, we, and the neighbors are regularly out shooting. We are about to be annexed into Chattanooga with a whole bunch of new laws though. I'm hating the thought of it. At least I'll be compensated for losing more freedoms by paying more taxes. URGG!
  3. Very Nice! That smile will come back every time you think about it too. My first little spike 30+ years ago still brings a smile, of course the horned monster I missed before that still brings a little tear.
  4. Life keeps getting more complicated. So, now, if I'm driving down the road and have a heart attack and run off in the ditch, get out and start stumbling down the road, trip and break my ankle, and a car stops to offer a ride as I'm crawling along the shoulder; I have to crawl all the way to the rear and look at the tag to see if I can stand a ride or not. I really didn't need something else to worry about.
  5. On my list. Thank you for letting us know.
  6. Good Grief! It's in perfect English and I still don't understand. I'm afraid I might "provoke" the offender.
  7. Way to go! I'll bet you thought getting married changed your life; hang on! It'll be good! Mostly.
  8. Just a "no loaded firearms allowed" sign. I'm not sure of the wording or the meaning, just making note of the sign.
  9. I've been wanting to visit Big Daddy's ever since I ran through there once before. It looked like a great place to spend some time. I stopped there last weekend and found a "keep out" sign (for the narrow minded like me) on the door. I sat on a porch rocker long enough to smoke and ponder a bit and left. I need to send them a letter. I needed some stuff and it is a neat store.
  10. Wow, I guess I just thought I was a tough old crusty guy. Thanks for sharing, that sure brightened up this drab old day!
  11. From the other side of the gap : Howdy Neighbor!
  12. I've been slinking around here for a while. I've found a lot of interesting informative info, and learned some stuff. I was procrastinating on the introduction until I could be sure this wasn't just a wild neurotic bunch of semi-paranoid, crazy gun nuts and bedwetters.................but it really seems to be a decent bunch of folks anyway. So, hello from a Hamilton County resident that I think will fit in pretty good. After growing up on Roy Rogers and Gene and the like, killing cans as a kid with my Dad's old 22, and quite a bit of hunting in previous years, I don't know a lot about guns. But I've learned a lot here already. It's a slow process for a slow guy like me. I resisted getting a carry permit until fairly recently because I was really irritated about the whole thing. I just put my truck gun back in the house. I finally gave in, but I'm still irritated. The great men who wrote the rules all those years ago didn't mention jumping through all the hoops and fingerprints and all that mess. I'm doing my best to conform just a little. I'm irritated about the overall attitude of many non gun folks who have been so brainwashed for so long until it's almost impossible to make them open up their minds and see. I'm irritated that my grandson can't draw a picture of a gun or a tank at school. He'll be okay, of course, but so many of those other kids don't have anybody to teach them. I am encouraged, though, with the progress we've made in recent years and hope we can continue to do so. I'm looking forward to figuring out my way around here and getting to the point I can contribute in some way. Thanks for having a place like this for folks like me!
