You have 30 days to pick up the firearm after completion of the background check. 27CFR § 478.102(c): TITLE 27--ALCOHOL, TOBACCO PRODUCTS, AND FIREARMS CHAPTER II--BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, FIREARMS, AND EXPLOSIVES, DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE PART 478_COMMERCE IN FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION--Table of Contents Subpart F_Conduct of Business Sec. 478.102 Sales or deliveries of firearms on and after November 30, 1998. (c) Time limitation on NICS checks. A NICS check conducted in accordance with paragraph (a) of this section may be relied upon by the licensee only for use in a single transaction, and for a period not to exceed 30 calendar days from the date that NICS was initially contacted. If the transaction is not completed within the 30-day period, the licensee shall initiate a new NICS check prior to completion of the transfer.

With the XDm you get a more aggressive texture on the grip, interchangeable grip panels, The back of the gun by the beavertail is releived a little more and slightly higer, XDm dissasembles without having to dry fire it, shorter movement of the stock triggers, thinner slide, longer barrel, Different sights giving you a longer sight radius, and finally increased magazine capacity. So you do get something for the extra your spending. Whether or not thats worth it for you depends on how comfortable the guns are for you. I do think even a novice could tell the differences especially once youve handeled and shot both.

This thread got me thinking that i need to order a Classic Army E90 to go with the PS90 i have on order. Although not nearly the same as the real gun high quality Airsoft guns are a great training tool. With the right guns they are as effective a form of training as simunitions.

My top two picks would be tokyo marui and Classic Army. Really cant go wrong with either one. I second what murgatory said cheap ones are typically just that. They are made from low end plastics and tend to strip gears on the autos and break plastic on the spring guns. for decent quality guns your looking in the 150-250 range

Got a response back from the BATFE "ATF is aware that the Ft. Campbell Army Base is physically located in two States. Given this unusual fact, under the Gun Control Act (GCA), a member of the Armed Forces who is stationed at Ft. Campbell Army Base would be considered a resident of both Kentucky and Tennessee regardless of the State in which the member maintained his or her residence. ATF has addressed this issue in the August 2004 FFL Newsletter. Please see the Newsletter for further information: http://www.atf.gov/publications/newsletters/ffl/ffl-newsletter-2004-08.pdf." So that settles it Military stationed at FT Campbell can in fact buy in either state.

Holy AK/AR!!!!!! Have you looked at Gunbroker prices today??!!?
c.a.willard replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
i just sold one of my AR's right before all this madness happened. Not only did i give the guy i good price i gave him 15 PMags with it. Id like to think tha tif the rifle was posted today i would have still given the guy the same deal. I understand supply and demand but some things are just wrong. On a related but slightly different note, If you purchased a rifle the day after the shooting when prices were normal with the intent to sell said rifle when prices climbed would that not be violating the law as you would be in the business of dealing in firearms. -
Does Gov't know what firearms you have?
c.a.willard replied to ohbehave's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
In TN the answer would be No. The state and Fed do not keep a record. The 4473 is kept on file at the FFL until they close then they are sent to the ATF. AFAIK once there the 4473's are simply filed away and not put into a database. The only thing that would be on a registry would be NFA items that are on the ATF's registry. -
Meant to have mine out last saturday but got super busy last week. Got it in the mail today should arrive in a couple days

Texas Schoold District to let teachers carry guns
c.a.willard replied to c.a.willard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sorry about that guess i should have paid more attention and read the date on the article. -
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,404721,00.html The article states that this had been in the process for a while now and is therefore probably not a response to the school shooting in connecticut. Basically texas law allows you to carry with written permision from the school and the school district is re writing their policy to allow teachers and other employees to carry. "In order for teachers and staff to carry a pistol, they must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun; must be authorized to carry by the district; must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and must use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls."

TMF, I just sent an email to the ATF seeking clarification. I will post their response here when they send one.

So i have a PS90 on order no telling when it will get here, but in the mean time im trying to determine what optic i want to run on it. An eotech or aimpoint is out of my budget right now about my max would be 200-250. Im thinking the burris fast fire 2 or 3, thought about maybe the primary arms micro dot. Any one on the board have experiance with either of these options or other suggestions for my price range or less.

I just bough my daughter a M&P 15-22 this year for Christmas, of course she's only two months old so i guess ill just have to use it till she grows into it.
-
We will just have to respectfully disagree, my opinions are based of my reading of the law and information ive received through local FFL's. I'm sure your opinion is formed from similar information just interpreted differently. Back on topic to the OP's question. It stands to reason that if the out of state transfer is not the persons home of record they could both be charged
-
Also FYI the fishing license was the recommendation of the FFL in TN that i purchased from. Another indicator that FT Campbell is also part of Tennessee is that on the TN side of post TCA is enforced while on the KY side it is the KRS.
-
Your not committing a crime if you live in Kentucky and are stationed at Campbell and buy in TN. The law says the state in which your duty station is located. Fort Campbell is located in both states. It has a Kentucky address just for simplicity of mailing purposes at one point in time it was actually Camp Campbell TN however since the post office was in KY it created serious mail issues and the war department changed to to Camp Campbell Ky. However the laws for FFL's do not use zip codes its about geographic location. Fort Campbell is located in TN just as much as it is KY. In addition to those two states you can also purchase in your home of record. as i said before up to 3 states
-
Actual if your stationed at Campbell you can purchase in up to 3 states. KY with orders. TN if you live there (easiest method is use TN fishing license at the FFL or other proof of residency) and your state of residence. For example for a while i had an Indiana license, lived in Tennessee , and stationed at Campbell.

Armslist being sued by the Brady Bunch
c.a.willard replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The majority of people would not see that as a violation of your rights, just like they don't view the background check as a violation of rights. There is likely enough public support to pass a law requiring all firearms transfers to go through an FFL. I simply propose an alternative to that. One that not only would allow individuals to still do private transfers but would also prevent you from having to do a background check every time you purchase. My personal preference would be to see no new legislation and the repeal of some of the idiocy that has passed, however at this point i dont think that is very likely. New legislation will come soon the most likely of which is another AWB and some form of ban or limitation on private sales. -
My wife went shooting with me early on in her pregnancy, before doing so the doctor said that as long as it was prior to the ears starting to develop that it should be perfectly safe. Obviously their are no medical studies to prove or disprove the risks of a pregnant woman firing a gun. I know the military doesn't allow pregnant women to shoot or even clean firearms. Most doctors i can think of would never sign off on that letter, because if they are wrong and there is damage they would open themselves up to a serious law suit.
