Sorry guys i typo'd the crap out of that post. It was supposed to be 340 ish.
-
Ballistically there similar though not really "the same". 150 grain 30-30 rounds are going to be traveling at about the same velocity as 110 grain 300blk. For hunting especially in TN 300BLK is as effective as 30-30. It has proven itself to be a very effective hunting cartridge. The other option would be find a rifle chambered in 30 Rem AR wich is a slightly better performer than 30-30 and probably a little easier to find than the older 30 rem. 300BLK is gaining a good deal in the popularity department and may be the easier of the two to get your hands on at the moment.

Closing Gunshow Loopholes/Private Sales [Poll Within]
c.a.willard replied to xRUSTYx's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Like i said when i typed it i knew several people would disagree. Registration does not infringe, it in no way limits what you may own. And if you want to look at it from a logical standpoint sincethe purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to allow for an armed population to ensure the effectiveness of the milita, would in not make sense that in order to best activate individuals as part of the militia the government would need to know what types of firearms they own. -
For any who may be looking Quantico Tactical in oak grove Ky has 1,000 round cases of Federal 40 S&W target ammo. I believe price is around 430ish a case

Closing Gunshow Loopholes/Private Sales [Poll Within]
c.a.willard replied to xRUSTYx's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There was a thread that ended up talking about this subjecct shortly before the shooting at sandy hook. I said this then and ill say it again. New gun laws are highly likely to be passed. By refusing sensible laws we will only serve to alienate our position. There is room for middleground on this issue. Heres what i see likely being passed, a ban on private sales and potentially implementation of a national registration system. Obviously even stricter laws will be proposed and some may very well pass. Here is some legitimate middle ground. State level registration only made available to LE upon issuance of a warrant. Allowing individuals to obtain a purchase permit usuable in private sales. All those without a Private purchase pemit must go through FFL. For simplicity purposes a HCP could also serve as a purchase permit. Private sales must be reported within 3 business days. Yes i already know many of you will disagree with this, however none of it would infringe on your ability to own a firearm. -
Whos going to the state capital on the 19th?
c.a.willard replied to reed1285's topic in Events and Gatherings
Ill be there. -
Id recommend with the 14 1/2 barrel just taking to a gunsmith and having them romove it then install and permanently pin the new one. Mainly just due to the PITA nature of removing the pin but it also helps to avoid any NFA legal issues. Most muzzle brakes need to be indexed somewhat but not necessarily precisly. Not sure wich YHM you have but most have 5 ports for the flash/muzzle blast. Allign it so that the center port is at the 12 oclock position.

Permanent fix for play
c.a.willard replied to Independent_shooter's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
The other method is placing a #41 o ring around your upper pivit lug. This keeps from having any rubber in your rifles working space. -
We might as well ask a mod to sticky this and make it the official post whore count improvement thread.

State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
c.a.willard replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I dont agree with anyone threatening to kill someone as protected speach but it is important to look at the different types of protected speach. The NBPP for the most part is protected because it is deemed political speach Yeager's video was posted with links directly to his for profit company. This makes it more likely to be viewed as commercial speach. Commercial speach is significantly less protected under the first amendment and there is plenty of case law to support it. In my personal opinion several members of the NBPP should have been arrested for the things they have said. Im not sure yeagers speah warants his arrest or violates any laws. It does however deomonstrate that he is a public threat. That is all that is needed for the state to yank his permit. There is also a major difference between saying i am prepared to take someone life if i have to and saying i'll be glad to fire the first shots. -

@ Robert No revoking his permit does not lessen the threat, but it is acting within their authority and acting in a resonable and responsible manner. As far as if he is truely a threat to public safety or not, i do not know. I can not tell whats in the mans heart, but if you take his words at face value then yes he is a danger. Edited to add: I have yet to see a TGO member that said if they move one more inch im going to start killing people. There have been a few that are fairly close to the line but yeager crossed clear as day. He played the stupid game and he won the stupid prize. He went on you tube and made a public video threatening to kill people. he may very well have just been angry and venting however the state can not necissarily take that risk. -

In my opinion Yeager is an asshat. He got exactly what he deserved, his words demonstrated a clear threat to public safety. The fact that people continue to seek out training from this man amazes me. There are any number of equally or more qualified trainers out there who not only have the credentials but the professionalism i would expect. -
I'd say go for it. Since it is a application to manufacture. If a ban comes down while your in the process you can always withdraw your application. One of the more knowledgable NFA folks should be along soon but IIRC you have a reasonable time even after approval to withdraw your application.

Obamacare prevents Gun and Ammo registry?
c.a.willard replied to battleop's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not true at all, what they are refering to is a portion of the affordable care act that makes it unlawfull to deny coverage or increase rates based on lawfull ownership of firearms and ammunition and prevents and prevents collection of information in regards only to the affordable care act. It does not prevent non medical entities from gathering or storing the information. (1) WELLNESS AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS- A wellness and health promotion activity implemented under subsection (a)(1)(D) may not require the disclosure or collection of any information relating to–`(A) the presence or storage of a lawfully-possessed firearm or ammunition in the residence or on the property of an individual; or`( B) the lawful use, possession, or storage of a firearm or ammunition by an individual.`(2) LIMITATION ON DATA COLLECTION- None of the authorities provided to the Secretary under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act shall be construed to authorize or may be used for the collection of any information relating to–`(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition;`( B) the lawful use of a firearm or ammunition; or`(C) the lawful storage of a firearm or ammunition.`(3) LIMITATION ON DATABASES OR DATA BANKS- None of the authorities provided to the Secretary under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act shall be construed to authorize or may be used to maintain records of individual ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition.`(4) LIMITATION ON DETERMINATION OF PREMIUM RATES OR ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE- A premium rate may not be increased, health insurance coverage may not be denied, and a discount, rebate, or reward offered for participation in a wellness program may not be reduced or withheld under any health benefit plan issued pursuant to or in accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act on the basis of, or on reliance upon–`(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition; or`( B) the lawful use or storage of a firearm or ammunition.`(5) LIMITATION ON DATA COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUALS- No individual shall be required to disclose any information under any data collection activity authorized under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act relating to–`(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition; or`( B) the lawful use, possession, or storage of a firearm or ammunition. Edited to add: I'm not sure why those became emoticons when i pasted it. -

The last i read was one student was shot and critically injured then firead at another and missed. Somehow at one point one of the teachers received a minor pellet wound to the head (Ricochet?). Teachers talked the kid into giving up his weapon. The school normally has an armed officer who wasnt there that day because they were snowed in.

Before suggesting supporting Israeli style gun laws it may be a good idea to look into what those laws actually are. 1. Applicant must be a permanent resident of Israel for 3 consecutive years prior to making application for a firearms permit. 2. Applicant must be 21 years of age. 3. The permit request must be for personal use, not to engage in the business of firearms sales. 4. Applicant must fall into one of the following categories: a. Part-time reservist (volunteer) for 3 years- may own 1 handgun b. Such a reservist (volunteer) is a member of a gun club - may own 1 rifle c. Professional, licensed public transportation driver, transporting a minimum of 5 passengers - may own 1 handgun d. Licensed animal control officer- may own 2 hunting rifles, *not* full automatic weapons, or semi-automatic weapons with a limited capacity magazine. e. Full-time dealer of jewelry or large sums of cash or valuables - may own 1 handgun
-
Bet it turns into them saying the limited capacity of the shotgun helped reduce the total number of injured. As long as were making assumptions who wants to take bets on wether or not this kid was on some form of mind altering medications.

These also make good choices for SBR projects as you would only have your information engraved on it instead of engraving your info and having the original manufacturers info there.

Its a good range. Well maintained and the RSO's do a good job of keeping it safe. It can get a little busy but you can usually find a spot especially if you go in the morning.

Mot of the time with the M&P the only thing people tweak is the trigger, this is typically just using one of the Apex kit's. For the most part M&P's run great right out of the box. If you are experiancing FTF's you should contact S&W. Thats one of the reasons to buy from a company with some of the best customer service in the business.
