  1. Carter  I dont mind a regular civilian using a public venue to train in, if they go to the local government and police and get prior approval for the training and ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place.  Thats the key peice of the argument that people seem to be overlooking.  The local authorities supported this training excersize.  They support it because it is mutually benificial.
  2. So what was the point of that last post?  Were you trying to insinuate that someone is a sociopath?    Maybe we can get off the topic of trying to insult others or comparing our intelligence and get back to the discussion and the merrits of each persons views.  TMF, Myself and many others maintain that in order to effectively train tier one units must go outside the normal channels.  This provides them with the most realistic trainig that they can get and prepares whem for their global mission.    You seem to take issue that it is not a controlled enviornment and poses an undue risk to civilian wellbeing.  My natural argument to that would again be that the local agencies and governments signed off on it, so obviously they did not see a significant risk there.  Additionally anyone who has planned training will tell you risk reduction and midigation are a a major part of the training plan.   It has also been argued that there are other areas these units could have trained.  This is only partially true those large dedicated training areas are usually reserved by units up to a year out and therefore not necessarily available for a rapid deploying unit to take advantage of.  Additionally those areas do not have true high rise buildings and the complications that come along with them. Finally that unit may have already trained in those areas so many times that it was beleived they had maximised the training available from that area and had to move on to new training grounds to change it up.   Others beleive that the US military has no business training in US cities, to which i would counter that the US military has a standing mandate to conduct defensive operations for this nation.  Depriving them of the ability to train in cities that would likely be targets if any type of enemy attack or invasion were ot happen would be depriving them of the homefield advantage.
  3. If its shipped into this state has to go thrugh a FFL here.  If you go to Georgia to purchase it you can go through a FFL there.  Federal law allows you to buy long guns from neighboring states via a FFL but not via a individual purchase.
  4. Its done using hydrographics.  There are a number of different shops that a quick google search will pull up.  I don't know anyone personally that has used any of them so i cant make a specific recommendation.
  5. An area with restricted accesss being controlled by the local police department is a controlled training enviornment.  It also provides local agencies the ability to conduct simultanious training of their critical tasks without having to assume the total cost of the training.  Its a win win.   what part of the city approved this are people not getting.  Obviously the local government thought that there was enough benifits to outweight the absolutely minimal risk involved.   Should no pilots fly over populated cities for fear of clipping a powerline and crashing into a restaraunt.  It makes plenty of sense to train in high rise buildings and large urban centers.  If your job is to sit in a SCIF all day then it is probably not necessary.  If your job is to on moments notice go to any place in the world with minimal support and conduct direct action missions then it makes sense
  6. i dont think that the LEO market is bigger than the civilian market at all.  Military LEO combined maybe, but probably still short of civilian sales.  there are only a few companies that supply the majority of arms to the military.  When you combine that with the significantly reduced prices mil/le get their arms for its pretty obvious that the lions share of most manufacturers profits come from the civilian market.
  7. Dont have any photos on this computer but my ride is a 91 Honda VFR 750
  8. The general public was notified well in advance, the local government and police department approved the training, and the 160th pilots are some of if not the best helicopter pilots in the world.  The risk to public safety was absolutely minimal, probably less than a news or a private helicopter flying over.  Somethings you cant train on in any mock city in existance and sometimes you just need to go to someplace new to change it up.   If anyone has a problem with the military training in civilian populations they should take it up with the elected officials of that area that approved it.
  9. TMF- Saw one at allans yesterday.  Didnt look at the price on it though.
  10. Not to nock the Iphone, but i think for this idea something that accepts a micro SD card to store the data would be more benificial.  If your phone ever does break you can always swap it to a different one.
  11. TMF,  I think strickJ thought it looked like the guy was taking a leak on the tires.  But unless urine comes out his bellybutton his hands are in the wrong position.
  12. Im not sure that list accurately reflects who supports the bill.  Just people who have received contributions from supporting interest groups.
  13. Sure thing, should we ship the entire miami police department out there to.    Or better question where does the money come from to build it, and staff it.    It's cheaper and more effective to train in actual cities.
  14.   Not only is it training to operate in large urban centers, it is also training to work with local agencies on the ground.  This type of training has real world tangable benifits.  Everything from significant natural distasters, terrorist attacks on american soil, and to operating in foreign urban centers.  Not allowing the militar to train in major urban areas is counterproductive to having a standing army sworn to defend this land.
  15.   Do you honestly believe that homosexuality is a choice.  Do you choose to be heterosexual or is that just part of who you are.  Even the Catholic church has recognized that homosexuality is not a choice  "men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies ... must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity."[71] Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided." _Catechism of the Catholic Church  Although they do require homosexuals to remain chaste as they can not be married.  It is interesting to note that they view heterosexual sex outside of marriage equal to homosexual sexual activity.
  16. I personally am glad that they are considering this.  Although i support their right as an organization to decide what their own entrance rules will be, i also realize that nearly 4 percent of american's identify themselfs as members of the LGBT community.  homosexual children have a significantly higer rate of suicides in the US than any other portion of the population.  Being accepted by a major organization that teaches valuable life skills would be a great thing for many children.
  17. Dave The ammo you gave me shot fine no issues with that.  Ended up still finishing the match with the WWB  due to my missing so much.  Some of those strings were humbling especially the polish plate rack.  Im taking it back out for saturdays match but no WWB this time.  If it still does it ill send it to S&W for servicing, if not ill just stay away from WWB for anything other than flat range time.
  18.     You have to look outside of the bible and into other text's to understand calling someone a Nimrod.  I think this sums up several of our elected leaders very well  "He also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power"  from the book of Jubilees.
  19. "The applicant has not been convicted of the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant in this or any other State two (2) or more times within ten (10) years from the date of application and that none of such convictions has occurred within five (5) years from the date of application or renewal. "   Basically the way i read that is that the and is conjunctive and that to be precluded you would have to not only have 2 within the last 10 years but one or more of them would have to be within 5 years.  I obviously am not an attorny and dont even play one on TV, nor did i stay at a holiday inn express last night.  It is a good bit of money put into the application process, but thats really all you have to loose is the cost of the process.
  20. I believe she was refering to the slide fire stock.  Wich although it is not collapsable it is designed to mount onto buffertubes designed for collapsable stocks.  And technically under recoil the stock does collapse foward towards the reciever.
  21. No disrespect taken, normally the first thing i try to rule out is shooter error, thankfully i had several very experienced shooters beside me and they didnt think i was limp wristing.  I just finished disassembly and cleaning it then took a peace of freashly polished brass put it in the chamber and rotated it about 5 or 6 times, pulled it back out.  There were several scoring marks on the brass from some small burrs.  Dremel on its lowest speed felt wheel little bit of polishing compound and the scoring has all but completely disappeared. So im hopeful that my problem is solved.
  22. Nope today is the first day i have shot it.  All 4 may have been from the white box, but i think 1 was oneof the reloads.  I thought about sending it in this week but i just talked my wife into letting me go shoot saturdays intro to competitive shooting match.  So im gonna try and narrow the problem down before then.  If i cant ill just shoot the match with my full size M&P 9 but i'd like to get it running right before then.
  23. Thought i would post here and see what everyones thoughts for possible causes are.  Took my M&P Pro out for the first time today to MCTS for thier steel match.  Had 3 FTE's with winchester white box out of about 100 rounds and 1 FTE out of about 50 124grn reloads.  Round isn't extracting all the way out of the chamber.  Needles to say that this didnt help my times any today not that it really would have mattered much as i had plenty of bad strings not attributed to any failures other that failure to hit the target in a timely manner.      I got the gun used with around 300 ran through it by the previous owner.  Todays the first day ive shot it.  Doing some research ive found some have had burrs in the chamber due to uneven finish.  Im gonna check it out more tonight to see if i can identify the problem.  Just thought i would ask your opinions.  If i cant figure it out relatively soon i'll just take advantage of S&W outstanding customer service.

    Decockers

The odds of the decocker breaking like you described are probably about the same as the odds of the sear breaking on a a striker fired pistol.
  25. Maybe its just my reading, but the way i read it is appendex A is specifically exempted from the entire law.  So if a manufacturer renamed a banned gun to match something in appendix A it could hypothetically be a legal end run around the law.
