Cultural perception will always contribute to how the African American community views police activity. The unfortunate reality is that racism does exist in our society today. And racially racially discriminating tactics used by police were a very common occurrence not to very long ago. It causes the African American community to view things from a different perspective than the remainder of society. Not saying i agree with their assessment of the situation, just i can see how the past effects their views of today. Arguing it from the police perspective isn't really necessary because it will not change the views of the community involved. But if i were to argue it my argument would be that a white informant going into a black mans place of business is in no way racial profiling. However believing that all white people are out to get you is racially profiling. The community claiming the investigators/informant were racially profiling is in fact being racist in its beliefs because they are treating an individually differently based sole on the color of their skin. it's really a no win argument from the sheriffs position, but would be great if he came out and said that.

Not seeing the racism there. Targeting of businesses like this typically only come after several reports from the local community of possible illicit activity. The arrest was obviously wrong given the factors that we know after the fact. But until evidence is offered that's contradictory. I am going to make the assumption that police did not tell the informant to plant anything. The informant likely did it on his own acting out of his own self interest. That gets into the entirely separate issue of how police should go about dealing with informants and their use/misuse. Given the choice between jail/prison and helping the police many will choose helping police. And when your cooperation is evaluated solely upon the outcome ie did you give us the information we want to see (regardless of its accuracy) you create an environment where things like this are an almost guaranteed outcome. Informants are an invaluable tool especially in narcotics interdiction as they allow you to have access to people and information that you could not possibly gather independent of their use. Their use on the other hand needs to be extremely limited in scope. With all that being said, i think their should at minimum be an independent review to determine if the officers involved were in any way responsible for the informants actions and if they were they should be held liable for any damages done to the business owner.

Options for IWB M&P .40 (full size)
c.a.willard replied to rugerla1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have a couple IWB's for my M&P's so far i think the most comfortable/easy to conceal is my comptac minotaur. I have a crossbreed for another pistol that i also find to be at the same level of comfort and concealment. If your on a budget but are capable of forming kydex yourself the old faithful holster kits are a pretty good buy and usually ship pretty fast. -
welcome to TGO. No shortage of talking about guns here. The classifieds are pretty great to.

step 1 get benefactor membership step 2 post here for reasonable price step 3 wait-how long it sits will depend on how fair the price is you can request a BOS to cover yourself if you really want to, but there are some that don't like to do that and you get the same amount of protection from printing out the emails/PM's and recording the persons name and contact info on it. Armslist is free to post on to, but to me the benefit of posting here is that i dont have to deal with some of the people that use armslist. It just feels safer and more comfortable. Meetings for buy sale or trade for me that were done through this site always went extremely well and made me feel like i was meeting a member of a community rather than a stranger.

Is it okay to drink while carrying/handling guns?
c.a.willard replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I understand the legal implications, my understanding of the post was that the OP was asking for personal opinions on it. My personal opinion is that all people are different. Some are perfectly capable of responsibly carrying even if consuming alcohol others may very well not. In addition to that public can constitute much more than a portion of an establishment devoted to serving alcohol. I in no way condone breaking the law. -
Just a thought, but if the DOJ still has an active investigation concerning Zimmerman doesn't that mean that he can not be compelled to testify during a civil suit. From my understanding civil courts wont touch you if there are possible criminal charges pending as that would violate your constitutional rights. If that holds true in this case then the DOJ's investigation would actually be serving to protect Zimmerman in the short run

Zimmerman Trial: Verdict Reached!

Robby Zimmerman completely owned Morgan during their interview. It was really enjoyable to watch. Definitely worth looking up on you tube for those that may have missed it. -
Is it okay to drink while carrying/handling guns?
c.a.willard replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
For me its pretty much a non issue. May have a beer with dinner once or twice a month and i dont disarm when i do. Don't think its necessary. As far as drinking in public while armed individual mileage may vary. The type of guy/gal that has a few drinks knows they shouldn't be driving and calls a cab is the same type of person that's smart enough to leave their firearm holstered. A holstered gun aint gonna hurt any one regardless of the state of inebriation of its owner much like a parked car isnt going to hit anyone. If your the type of person on the other hand who practices really bad judgement when drinking in any amounts then perhaps its not the carrying a gun you should be questioning but rather the drinking part. -
Rifle case that converts to chest pouches
c.a.willard replied to zgunbear's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
It wouldn't surprise me if there is something like that out there, but i fail to see the point. The padding of a rifle case would cause a lot of unnecessary bulk if it were to be used as a chest rig. -
My big gripe with not letting in the prior fights of trayvon is that the jury instructions specifically require them to take into consideration the physical abilities and capabilities of both zimmerman and trayvon martin. The only way that a jury can do that is if they have heard evidence that speaks to the physical abilities and capabilities of trayvon.

Maybe they werent bad if they were recently made. The only time i had beef frankfurters was in basic and im pretty sure that MRE had been on a shelf somewhere for a decade
-
Dave don't tell me you were one of the two people to ever exist that actually liked the beef frankfurters.

As far as best deals for MRE's id suggest ebay. But if your just looking for food for a power outage and portability isnt as large of an issue i'd just suggest stocking up on some shelf stable foods and a camp stove. Youd have much better tasting food than what comes in MRE cases.

your post clarified more what i was talking about with likability i just didn't elaborate on it. I agree that at the time it would not have been worth the damage they would do to themselves in getting there at that time. Just part of me (the always curious part) wonders if they could have. I think the defense still has a plan to try to open that door with their witnesses although they may not necessarily need to. they also have more than enough for the appeals process if the verdict doesn't go their way.
-
i wonder if they tried harder with TM's moms cross if they could have got to more of TM's past actions. Specifically the point that she said her son was in heaven. wouldn't a simple clarifying question to that statement be all that was really needed to slam that door wide open. Granted this would have been a completely classless move, and wouldn't win any likability points with the jury.

thats pretty much what i did but instead of print screen i used the select tool to copy them into paint, the print screen was to much blank white space and would have made it even worse. From the way i read the memo, it appears that their plan is to focus their production for the time being on the products that they sell the most of, and prevent having to go back and forth setting up machines on their production line. Although it really sucks if you just must have an item on that list i think it will help speed the recovery of the ammunition and components market, as time that they previously spent changing out equipment and settings can now be spent manufacturing more.

I think the biggest problem with this grip style for gunfighting is when its over exaggerated like the article described. When used normally i have not found a reduction in peripheral vision like the article described. I also have what most would describe as monkey arms so i always end up with more bend in my elbows than what you typically see with the exaggerated C grip and i keep the elbows tucked towards the rifle. I've tried several different grip techniques for my support hand and find that for me personally i am faster getting on target using a c clamp type grip and more accurate using sightless fire in CQB distances. everyone is different though and what works well for me and my body type does not necessarily translate well to others. The article does do a good job of explaining the potential downfalls of using this grip method though

Murfreesboro DUI Checkpoint Video Making its Way Across the Web
c.a.willard replied to wewoapsiak's topic in General Chat
There has been a few fairly interesting articles that discuss handler bias and how it will cause the dog to falsely indicate. http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/welcome/features/2010-2011/02/20110223_drug_dogs.html -
I know i wouldnt be bothered by it at all if you asked for the last few digits of the serial number to verify that it wasn't your stolen property. Also not that it helps you, but most police departments will run a serial number through NCIC for you if you call and as them to. It's not at all a bad idea to do this if you are not 100 percent comfortable with the sellers reputation. There is also website called tracechecker.com that is supposedly linked to the NCIC stolen property files. I am not sure how well it works. This may actually be a good opportunity to check the site to see how well it works. OP if you are willing and wouldnt mind PMing me the seriel number to the stolen gun i'd really like to do a test of the tracechecker site to see if it actually shows up in their database as stolen property Edited to add: OP PM'd me his serial number and it did not show on trace checker as part of their stolen property files. At this time i can not suggest using this site to verify property that you may be buying. I do still recommend calling youl local PD to run the serial number if your are at all suspicious of the seller or item.
