Not to put words in TMF's mouth but i think the point he is trying to make is that when an officer does something like this and another one helps cover for them it impugns the integrity of the entire department. Bad officers exist and they must be held accountable for their actions. When a department fails to hold that officer accountable for his actions they assume that accountability themselves. That is what leadership is all about.

For Clarksville specifically, this has been an ongoing problem for may years. Although crime here is raising i feel there is a lot of political pressure to undercharge and plea everything in order to falsely lower the crime data.

Pincus suggests verbally warning home invader
c.a.willard replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Good idea or bad, i know i am likely to give verbal commands to any intruder. To many years training to give commands before use of force. -
nah, if I wanted to drive a bunch of muscle cars, steal money, shoot cops, and beat up hookers I'd just move to Detroit.

If your wife doesn't have a medical condition, then racking the slide is only a matter of training.

they can call it whatever they want, but in my mind when the bevel the pad to act as a cheek rest it became apparent that it is designed to be usable as a stock. On the other hand SBR laws are stupid anyways so good on them for playing the same game the ATF plays all the time and apparently winning for now

Plenty of weaknesses in the vehicle to exploit without the need to try to penetrate the armor. As TMF mentioned earlier fire is the most cost effective means. Tons of ways to mobility kill this vehicle. The city covering the maintenance is still probably cheaper than buying even the lowest cost armored vehicle new. I dont understand peoples major issue with this. The truck offers some good capabilities, misuse may be a possibility but not a likely one. I would much rather see the vehicle go to a local LE agency than be scrapped or pay to ship it off shore to some random country that well probably end up fighting later.

should physicians routinely inquire about guns?

Had my daughter's pediatrician ask me and the wife. At the same time she asked about other risk factors as well, like pools, cabinets etc. So the gun part didn't bother me. My wife stopped her when she started talking about safety stuff and basically told her I was a safety fanatic. We then had a good conversation where I educated the doctor on several quality safety programs out there for kids and parents. Now instead of trying to talk something she doesn't know well, if you say yes she offers you a sheet with some safety resources and leaves it at that. -
If you go through the class you shouldn't have to go to the court date. Just trying to save you some money. Im assuming your a younger person and those insurance increases can really hurt.

No a speeding ticket if payed will not hurt you when buying a firearm. Since this is your first you may want to look in to the defensive driving course. Frequently this option can satisfy the citation and avoid points on your license

I hope lenny doesn't f it up for everyone . If you read the defenses to what he is charged with TCA 39-17-1302 39-17-1302 B) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that the person’s conduct: (7) Involved acquisition or possession of a sawed-off shotgun, sawed-off rifle, machine gun or firearm silencer which is validly registered to the person under federal law in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Records. A person who acquires or possesses a firearm registered as required by this subdivision shall retain proof of registration. Thanks to lenny we may very well see case law that invalidates trusts in Tennessee. If its registered to his FFL maybe everyone gets lucky.
-
IIRC his suppressor is a personal one registered to a trust not to him as an individual or one owned by his FFL because the chief LEO struck language through his original paperwork. It was one of his many frivolous lawsuits. So the tax stamp itself does not prove that its legal for him to possess, just that its registered to a trust. he also has to prove that he is a trustee on that trust. They couldn't even see the tax stamp until after the warrant to open up the case which was several hours after Lenny was arrested. Edited to add: Hopefully Lenny consulted an attorney and his trust is set up properly, but from his displays of thinking he understands the law better than attorneys that specialize in it i think its likely that he did one of the many DIY NFA trusts out there. Edited to add more: He may have bit himself in the rear when in court he said he owned the suppressor. If it is in a trust then he is not the "registered owner" the trust is, and he is just a trustee that can possess the property.

You know what would have prevented this, if he was in prison for the felony he plead guilty to in march of this year. He was arrested for terroristic threats in march of this year, negotiated a plea and sentence to 3 years probation.

lenny's not caving in. At least not in the traditional sense. Its more like he set dynamite at the entrance to the cave walked into it and sealed himself shut. He's choosing not to communicate with the DA to get it dropped. He's choosing to continue down a frivolous path that may result in serious consequences and he's using our tax dollars to do it. On another note, you can not really call the current government communist not even really socialist, even the farthest leaning leftist is not truly a communist or a socialist in that both political ideologies require advocating that every able bodied member of society works in order to meet the the insane levels of production necessary to permit either. Also worth of noting is that for either to be successful in a change in the government an armed working class is critical.
-
I hope that he learns from this enough to get his own attorney. A decent respected attorney and a conversation with the DA along with proof the suppressor was legal would likely have resulted in the whole thing being dropped. A probable cause hearing is just that. The court has no obligation to hear any evidence not directly related to the stop and the arrest itself. Evidence of innocence is a separate thing and not heard in probable cause hearings.

From a training perspective there is another way to look at this. You could always look at it from the feedback perspective. In quality training there is both positive and negative feedback. Positive reinforcing what you do well and negative feedback designed to stop you from doing what you do wrong. Adding an additional penalty for missing high (although im sure not intended this way) functions as excellent negative feedback system. It forces you to be accountable for the rounds that don't hit the target. Surely with a law enforcement background you can see the potential benefit in training shooters to be accountable for the rounds they fire out of their weapon.

There electronic target system is pretty expensive to replace out right, id assume still not cheap to just repair. The 8 dollars is meant to spread cost of repairs amongst multiple people without penalizing people that could not possibly have resulted in any damage. I would recommend that if you want to practice head shots at 25 yards and may put one high to tape a head target somewhere closer to center of the full size target or hang it upside down.
