Concealed carry question...
strickj replied to Plain Old Dave's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Plain Old Dave will not be joining us any longer. There's no place here among the 'law abiding' for someone choosing to carry illegally. -
Too low fer fat hoes? Naa.... not this truck!
-
Nice read. I would suggest using cardboard OJ containers, but it spificially said to use milk so I guess you're just screwed.
-
Yes. The 1st, 2nd, and 4th are protections from the government. Not from citizens. An employer telling you that you can not carry a gun, put a bumper sticker on your car, or whatever, is not violating your rights. If you believe it is, I suggest you reread the constitution. Your "right" to carry a gun ends where my inalienable right to enjoy my property begins.
-
Uhh, Worriedman, you do realize that you are not protected by the 1st, 2nd, 4th, or any other constitutional right from an employer, right? Your constitutional rights protect you fro the government.

Your story there had nothing to do with an "OC event". It had to do with some guy OCing.Flip-flop much? We are talking about the fact that we have never lost ground since TN became an issue state (happy that I included it this time?) with no indication of it ever happening. Well, other then a few folks fearing something that may or may not happen.Bottom line here, there will always be something circulating in the news that will make you, and others, say "now is not the right time to OC [or insert other activity]". Whether it's the tragedy in AZ, a school shooting, or a controversial political issue. If we wait for the "right time" to do something that may offend an anti-gun fool, then we will be patiently waiting for a very long time. Personally, I couldn't give a rats ass if I piss off one of these anti-gun types. That's because they're going to be pissed off to begin with. Nothing that I do will change that, empower that, or disempower that. In the meantime, I will continue to educate when and where I can. If that stems from someone at WalMart seeing my gun, then great. That's a new friend to me, and a new friend to the 2nd. Maybe someone else will be educated during an "OC day" that would have never thought twice about carrying a gun, too. To me, that's far more likely to happen that some misconceived fear of us loosing our rights overnight by such an 'event'. Now, to keep from going around in a circle anymore, I'm outy. (That means don't ask me any more questions that will pull me back in )

Concealed carry question...
strickj replied to Plain Old Dave's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There is no restriction placed on self defense. As mentioned, a gun is not self defense. A gun is a tool for self defense. That's well said and kind of the way I see it too. -
Yes. You are right. I should have had the foresight to know that you would have included pre-permit carry to a permit related carry question. You said this earlier in the thread: . .Again, a couple of your posts from earlier in the thread: You sound pretty opposed to OC from that and other statements. I don't need to wait and see what will happen if I push a ball down a hill. Experience will tell me that the ball roll down the hill.Of coarse, your response to this will be that I'm naive because balls didn't didn't roll down hill before I started shaving. To which I will say, that's irrelevant because you only has tin cans and rocks to throw down a hill back in your day.
-
Yes, Robert, I changed the question. I thought my original question was pretty straight forward and simple. It was not, as you wanted to answer in pre-permit times. Like I said in one of my previous posts, at one time women were not allowed to vote, too. At one time, there were two of everything in the south that were service related. One for whites, one for blacks. One "whites' only" bathroom. One "blacks' only" bathroom. Is that relevant to people using the bathroom today? If a black man pees on the floor today, will that put us back to the times of having two sets of bathrooms? The point of the question I posed to you is that no matter how much you want to believe that OC will send us back, it just isn't going to happen. There is no evidence to support that claim. Umm... ok. So, success is not equal to success, apparently.

Yes, I decided to add one more post the the conversation in an effort to get the question I've asked you many times answered. Just in case you've missed the question, I'll increase the font size and color: Have there been any negative laws passed in TN since we became a shall issue state?
-
Anything that happened before TN started issuing HCPs is irrelevant to the discussion of carrying guns with a HCP. I'll ask again, have there been any negative laws passed in TN since it became an issue state? I never initiated the debate. I did defend against some negatives in this thread until I was jumped on. Go back and read my first two posts.Seems you and several others felt the need to put your opinions into the mix where it wasn't asked for. The OP didn't ask if OC was bad. The OP asked who would be up for an "OC day". I said I would be. You, Sir, are the one who jumped in with why it shouldn't happen. You(and others), are the one(s) who turned it into an OC vs CC thread. Not me. It would be no different then someone posting "Glocks suck and here's why..." into a thread about why someone like's their Glock.

hyperbole — n a deliberate exaggeration used for effect Who was it saying that OCers have "similarities to kwik"? I hope to God that the "internet" isn't your only arbiter of information. Please provide the source for your claim that there are "only a hand full of stories" and how you know with such certainty that staying concealed is "impossible" and that "a lot" of people that openly carry daily...I have a feeling that they are all assumption and wishful thinking but if you have actual facts, please present them. Umm.... because people who carry are only human I'm sure your gun has never became exposed. I salute you for your superhumanness. Like I said, there are only a million of such stories posted on this website and others. I'm not looking for them. Sorry. There are also a million 'why cops suck' stories, too. I shouldn't have to provide proof to the obvious that there are more then enough of those stories around. Again, if you have no problems, them why raise a stink against OC? I Yeah, you're right. There was also a time in this country where slaves picked cotton, and women couldn't vote. The question wasn't posed for decades past. Since TN became an issue state, have we gun owners not continually gained ground? Edit: You know what... I don't care anymore. I'm tired of arguing over this. Say whatever you wish in your reply as you will have the last word. Good day, Sir.

Know what.... Jared Loughner was carrying a gun.... just like you.... does that make you a mass-murderer? Denying the similarity there would be ridiculous. There are only a hand full of stories on the internet of problems arising. No, I'm not saying that all 300,000 people OC regularly.... but to stay concealed 100% of the time is impossible. There are a lot of people that do OC daily, combined with everyone else having their guns become exposed, I'd say that, that's a pretty durn good record. A few incidences out of the lot. So, your story of you witnessing cops being called to someone OC is valid while what I said is not valid? Look for them yourself. There are only about 52083482640612096120o7601264062304o1723765409723604876208354760823756408726450876230547602756018726540401723047203747-23740-72604796120974601972640891726047162084760827640978264097826304781620397846 posted on this website. I did go back and read it, thanks. I also read your post before ever saying anything to you. If you do not have a problem with people OCing, then why are you raising a fuss about people that do? You are describing his intentions as rallying at the courthouse with ARs in hand. So what? The people that do not like gun carriers are going to dislike them regardless. Well then, older wise one. Answer the question that I asked. When have HCP laws not gained ground? As I'm saying to Robert, Jared Loughner was carrying a gun just like you. Does that similarity make you a murderer? You're both carrying guns! You're both doing it legally! Some idiot driving a car drunk and killing someone has similarities to you driving a car too. Does that make you a drunk driver? you're both driving a car! You're both doing it with drivers licenses! This OC to kwik comparison is just laughable! If you guys can't come up with a valid comparison, then just stop here because there is no need to rebut something so outlandish any further.

Sigh.... Someone carrying a gun openly is NOT the same as some ****ing idiot walking around a park with an AK in his hand Great. Two stories out of the 300,000 permit holders in TN. Know how many times the exact opposite has happened to me? Prove it. IMO,and there are plenty of "opps, my gun became exposed" stories that say differently. remember, thugs carry concealed. When John Q sees an exposed gun, what does he think? "Why is that man hiding a gun!" Umm... then what exactly are you, and everyone else, saying? Obviously yall have a problem with it or yall wouldn't be in this thread posting about how bad it is. Who is advocating a 'protest'? Public perception that any law abiding citizen can carry a gun? When has that ever happened? Year after year, do we not gain ground? I'm just following the theme of the thread by posting blanket statements. After all, "OCers are going to cause SO many problems". "OCers are all like Kwik"....

What, a 100 years of perfection not enough for ya?

Steph is hot! Who cares if she's adding drama to the show. Someone had to say it Some people do that on pocket guns. It allows the hand to sit higher and offers a more comfy grip. Try it

Wow! I'm just going to skip over the 128743163 post since my last login. I think I already know what everyone said anyway Out there in the real world, no one cares if you choose to OC or CC. No one. Anywhere. No negative affects have ever arisen (kwik's AK aside) from OC . None. Each year in the state of TN, guns laws get passed (or at least introduced) to the contrary. Where are all of these ill affects of OC? Now, if you choose to CC and your gun becomes exposed....that is a whole 'nother issue.. In the mean time, I'll continue to carry how I choose. If I choose OC for that day, then I will educate at least one person after they strike up a conversation with me about it. People are quite surprised when they see me carrying and are always intrigued as to how they can as well...

Do 1911s not go bang every time?

You're welcome to shoot my M44 if ya want. I would only charge you 80 dollars

There have been several OC 'events' organized by other pro-OC forums. TGO is obviously not one of those type forums.. These usually revolve around positives like trash pick-up in downtown areas. Local medias will usually run short stories about them with interviews with those participating. These type get togethers are never "in your face" or otherwise negative in advancing gun rights.
-
I would be in as long as my schedule is open. I'm not 'skeered! By the time something like this is organized, the 'fearful' from today will have moved onto something else.
-
Everyone has a Mustang so that gets a big no because of that alone. Even little old laddies drive mustangs. meh Zs are bad-ass so that would be my choice. Challengers are nice but I would rather have the Camaro.

Disregard last post. Seems I didn't thoroughly read the article in the OP. Thought it was a repost of the other ATF shotgun ruling
