Thanks for posting that. Does anyone know what the "commissioner of safety determined"? I can't say that I have ever seen a shop put a sticker on a window. I guess I was a professional installer I guess I can add "professional tint installer" to the ole resume now. That sound much better then "I installed tint in my garage

I'm moving this from Carry Prohibited Locations to Handgun Carry since they're are no longer posted. Kudos for getting the sign taken down! I've eaten there many times (always takeout) so I'll second your opinion about the food being good and cheap. -

Yes, you guys are completely right. As a moderator, I should not have an opinion. I should not be involved with controversial topics. And above all, I should be held to a higher standard then everyone else. If I have wronged anyone here, then PM me for an apology. If I have personally attacked anyone here, then PM me for an apology. If you have nothing left in your bag to offer the debate and want to call me out for being a moderator, then PM me for a link to another forum where you can bitch about TGO moderators all day long. -
Company I used to work for develops hydrogen fuel cells (including the Chattanooga buses). http://www.modine.com/web_server_content/en_us/PDF_non_pub/engine/RandD_Brochure.pdf It's really pretty neat how it all works and all... but in a few years these will be like Betamax or HDDVD. There are just too many thing against it for it to ever make it popular in the consumer market. The president affects oil prices like squirrels affect nut prices. Yes, he can do things to make the price go down... but noting he does makes them go up. We have our own greed and fear to thank for high gas prices. Greed - Oil Speculators are buying and reselling oil on the open market many times over before the oil reaches the consumer. Fear - Every time someone sneezes people panic and drive up demand while rushing to the pump.

I don't know if it's the beer or the heat... but what do you mean? Why can't a property owner harm a trespasser? Is the what you're asking? The answer is because it would be battery to do so. You do not get any extra rights as a property owner to do what ever you want. And I'm not sure where you're going with the 2nd applying to citizens quotes. I just did a quick search.... and these are not the posts I was was looking for specifically, but they're close enough... Midtennchip is a lawyer. He has studied law. I'll take his word over where the Constitution applies over some old quotes from a dead guy. -
If price is what you're looking at, then check out some of the "pre-paid" providers. Every one uses the network from the big names. Boost uses Sprint\Nextel. The two from Walmart uses AT&T and Verizon. You can even use an unlocked Iphone with the Walmart\AT&T plan. Most are around 30\month for unlimited everything, including web. The are only two differences with these providers. 1) Customer service will be non-existent. This is a moot issue because you do not need to ever speak with anyone because your bill is always the same. 2) There is no "new every two" discounts. When you break this down, you actually come out cheaper. Way cheaper. I save about 80 dollars a month with my T-Mobile which translates to nearly 2 grand in 24 months. Verizon only offers a 1 clam discount every two years... Yup, I'll buy a new phone every year out of pocket and take the ~1800 dollar savings and buy a new boat Edit, The above is written by a hard-core Verizon customer for ~10 years or so. I left because I was tired of the 120 dollar phone bills. I wished I had known about the quality of the cheaper services sooner!

1) No. Just because you do not have any rights while on someone's private property, that does not give the property owner any extra rights to harm you. 2) Yes, due process only applies to the government. The only amendment that does not apply only to the government is the 13th (slavery) which also extends to citizens. And even the 13th does not offer protection when you agree to give it up (ie; if you wanna live under my roof then you will do all of the chores and XYZ~essentially the definition of slavery). I'm not making any of this up. I promise. 3) No, you can not do whatever you want to someone playing music loudly on your property. See "1" above. You can ask them to leave or call the cops to arrest them for trespass. If you harm them, then that would be battery. That's the problem with this bill, as written. It removes the right to remove someone over that person's 2nd. The equivalent would be a law that makes it illegal to remove someone over ther 1st - like plaiyng music loudly in your driveway, or yelling "FIRE" in a theater. You do not have a 1st right on private property no more then a 2nd. Ah... so we're back to age now. Great. No need to attack the topic with facts and proof.... just say the other guy is "young and dumb and full of it", since he's younger. Here's an analogy for ya: You are smarter then I because you are older. Ted Kennedy was smarter then you because he was older. And your mother is\was right. Your "rights" end where my property (my nose) begins. You should have learned to listen to her... she was older then you Oh, and Eminent domain (as it's correctly spelled by us young and dumb kind) is Constitutional. See the last part of the 5th amendment. (of coarse, I expect you to just dispel that as not proof as with everything else) -
Can someone paste the actual TCA about the door jam sticker please. I find it hard to believe that DIY tinting would be illegal...

I am neither a cop nor a lawyer but I will answer it the best I can. 1) A cop is a government agent. You have rights from government actions. You do not have rights from civilians. 2) As far as my knowledge goes, cops do not read Miranda rights per every arrest. They only read Miranda rights when an investigation is conducted after an arrest when such can be used as testimony in court. -

I've proved plenty. You've chosen not to accept it as fact. There is NO law that says that an employer can or can not take your rights. There is the simple FACT that you want to come on my property or work for me then you will follow the rules. If the rules are not to fight back durring a robbery, and you agree to the term, then you just gave up your "natural right" in exchange for admittance\employment. This very thing happens with millions of employers in this country. Why you and a few others fail to grasp that is beyond me PROVE ME WRONG here! Show me one thing that proves that you have rights on someone else's private property. One thing. On the Mod thing.... I am a member of this site first. And all posts in this thread are on topic (the "issues causing it's hinderance"). If you are unable to handle a differencing of thought on an internet board then you need to either grow a thicker skin or get off of the internet. If you don't like me or my posts then you have two options. Report the posts or put me on your ignore list. The choice is yours... but don't tell me to bug off when my posts are on topic... -

strickj replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oh, and the FL law was challenged by FL's business association on the grounds of "an unconstitutional taking of property" and "OSHA safety concerns". Neither one of those issues were convincing enough. Obviously, property is not being taken by the government with the bill and the judge could not see a safety issue with the latter. They did not argue the bill being unconstitutional or an infringement of rights, for some damned reason. -

Sky King, I could honestly care less what "credibility" I have with you. All of my posts are to simply point out that no one has rights on private property. I have proved that. No one's rights are colliding with this issue at all. This bill is an invasion of business and private property rights. Plain and simple. Yeah, let's take away two rights from one group just to convenience a select few with a fell-good bill -

Ok, sure. How about this story?Pizza man saved by gun, <br>but fired for packin' heat Pizza Hut not only took away his "right" to have a gun in his car while on company property, but they also took away his right to do so while off of their property. They also took away his "basic right" to self defense with a do not fight back policy. Want more proof? You can continue to mock me and what I say, but that doesn't change that simple truth that what I say is a fact. Actually, it's beyond fact as countless businesses have policies that removes employees' "rights" as a condition of employment. I'd wager a dollar to a weeble that most retailers have a do not fight back policy which removes the "basic right" to self defense. The ball is in your court here, Robert. You want to convince anyone that this "is just one mans opinion", then offer up some proof that you do have rights wile on private property... Well, how about addressing the incorrect post reference when it happens? I have absolutely no reason to purposely accredit your name to other's posts. Actually, I find it kinda humorous that you would think that. If you feel that I have in some way wronged you here, then simply report my post. I have contacted my reps. I also have a glimmer of hope that someone reading this thread may have learned something about what rights actually are and what rights they actually have. And maybe someone has seen exactly how this bill infringes on the rights of business and property owners for nothing more then to convenience a very select few. Believe it or not, but I have actually changed my complete position on this matter after realizing all of that since the FL parking lot bill was passed. -

I'm still waiting on you to prove me wrong. Once you find that, then you'll be made a millionaire several times over because you'll have millions of people contacting you because their "rights" to self defense were taken away from them while working a midnight cash register. Good luck! (and send me some of that money since I was your motivation) Dude, chillax! Why would I purposely do that? I'm not sure why your name showed up. Maybe a glitch with the muli-quote from the previous post. :shrugs: It's corrected. -

In case you didn't know... I use a wheelchair to get around. I know about these laws, first hand, and on the legal side. Carrying a gun can not be compared to skin color or disability as it is a choice. You may not agree with me saying that, but trust me, I'm one of those people that "can't choose" when it come to disability. I know the difference between a choice and not a choice. Oh, and no business is forced to comply with ADA laws. In a nutshell, if the structure was built after 1992 and they are open to everyone, then they must make accessibility accommodations. Businesses are not required to withhold. There's also that pesky $600 per year (IIRC) allowance to not file taxes. The definition of "employer" is So, yes. A person can hire someone to perform a service and that hired person will become their employee.Hiring a company for a service is different. -

Just one example? Well, in my little world, a client could hire me to provide advertising. If they want a 2'3 400 lb male Filipino midget for a model then that is who I will hire. Let's say that at a later date that their target demographic is different so they then tell me to provide them with a 6'2 120lb white woman. The male will be fired because his race, sex, disability and height no longer meets the requirements of the job. Like I said, there are many, many industries that hire\fire based on these things and it is completely legal as long as the job itself is dependent of it. If you want any more examples then just let me know Yes, you are completely right. Some folks do not understand what a right actually is. I would suggest reading up on your Constitution (and that SCOTUS ruling you referenced) -
Ya gotta expect these comments on a gun board but the reality is that most people do not use flashlights tactically

Really? I thought it was accepted by all that Ford was elected with "dead votes". On the elderly, they can already vote using absentee ballots. That amendment simply carries that law over. There's not much you can do to prevent fraud there and still allow those too old or sick to leave their house or nursing home\hospital to still vote.

Guy's, I know that we have been debating business owners rights here but this bill does not actually mention the word "business" once. It say's "No private or public employer". That means that it not only removes these rights from businesses but it also removes these rights from individuals, too. As worded, that means that a homeowner hiring someone to mow their lawn will have these rights taken away.... Another thing it mentions is that te firearm must stay concealed. It does not offer any protection for visible firearms or even firearms that are concealed and you tell your employer it's in the car... Useless feel good legislation anyone? -

strickj replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The argument posed was that all businesses must pay a "business tax". I'm simply saying that is not true. A black man can not take off his color. A woman can not take off her sex. You can take off your gun. Gun carry is a choice. Color, sex, disability, whatever is not. I stated awhile back that there are no blanket laws that all businesses must follow ( as this bill is). Someone said "business tax is a law and all businesses must follow those". That's how we got on that.As far as who would get an ID that's not a business goes; A lot of racing guys get a tax ID so that they can buy parts directly from a manufacture. Still waiting on proof that you do have that right apart from the government.... Yes. If xyz is dependent of the job then you can be hired\fired based on xyz. See the entrainment industry, fashion industry, porn industry, advertising industry, etc. just to name a few. You can also see this in manufacturing, or even movers (ever seen a mover that's disabled?). That's not "according to me". That's fact. -

You don't have to be a business to pay "business taxes". Anyone can get a tax ID. And not all business pay a "business tax". Again, I'm not aware of any one coverall "business tax" that businesses must pay. At lease not state wide. There may be local city taxes though. You are incorrect and here's why. 1) Civil right laws protect against discrimination against classes of people that can not change xzy. Gun owners are not and will never be a "protected class" because gun carrying is a choice. 2) A business can hire and fire based on race, sex, physical attributes, disabilities, whatever. If xyz is dependent of job completion, then any business can hire and fire away based on that. -

Ok, now THAT is hyperbole and it's getting kinda ridiculous But, yeah, I edited my last post to include churches in your little hyperbole example. A church certainly isn't going to hire someone that refuses to go to their approved heaven.. I want you to back up your claim that you have rights (any rights) while on someone's private property and you have a right not to be fired for breaking a contractual agreement for your employment. Same thing I asked about 10p4174083 times in the other thread. What do you mean "right to life"? As in, your employer could kill you? That would be murder... common now, lets be serious here. I pay tax. You pay tax. Businesses pay tax. That is something that everyone must do.... not just businesses. To my knowledge, there is no one "Business tax". There are tax breaks for new businesses, there is tax for resale, etc. (note, a "business license" is not required for a commercial tax ID)Robert, or anyone else, show me something that says that you have any rights while on someone's private property. -

Article 4, Section 1, in a nutshell, guarantees that what's good in one state is good in other states. Section 2 guarantees that citizens of one state will be treated equally in other states. Clearly states that do not recognize a permit from one state is breaking A4 S1 and S2.... of coarse, permits are unconstitutional too when broken down...
