Riverbend Time: an experience from last year.
strickj replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Riverbend forbids all weapons. Festival Rules - Riverbend Festival I'm note exactly sure what powers they have to forbid guns inside the gates, especially with no postings... but, the majority of the festival is held within a city park and parks are off limits per city ordinance (opt out). If discovered carrying, you could find yourself in all sorts of legal woes... -
I have one from UAG. IIRC, the same designer from UTG designed the UAG. Anyhoo... It's held up very well for the two years that I've had it. It gets used and abused regularly as a discreet camera bag. I've got a review of sorts of it around here somewheres with pics and a couple of other's opinions on the bag. IIRC, all opinions were of good quality except for one who complained of the bag ripping.

FL set to outlaw doctors asking if patients own firearms
strickj replied to jgm219's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Same here. I don't like that some doctors may ask that question. It's just none of their business unless they want to follow with a question about going hunting or something. But I damn sure don't like a law limiting the 1st amendment. Seems a simpler way around this is to answer "noneya". But what do I know -

I don't drink whiskey often, but when I do.....Jack or George?
strickj replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
Are we talking black? George is certainly better. For a few bucks more, you can get some totally decent tasting whiskey... well, drinkable whiskey, at least. Totinos one dollar frozen pizza is the best selling pizza. It's not because it's the best. It's because people buy it. The two do not go hand and hand. Jack is cheap, well advertised, and over-hyped. That's why it's the best selling. Don't take it personal now! I'm not saying that your taste in whiskey is wrong. I'm just saying your taste in whiskey is bad -

Can someone point me to the TCA which gives police agencies the power to cordon off areas during an emergency? And no, this is not a kwik moment. I just wanna read the TCA on it. Thanks

Pretty good. Leave it to Google to figure out a way to get hundreds of dollars of logo designs for free. Simply ingenious!

I hate it when people say that. There's obviously problems contributing to break-ups. The people breaking-up are obviously happier apart from each other. So why bring them down by offering a condolence and make them second guess the decision? Congrats man! Some advice: Get rid of the cats! No single man (straight man anyway) has ever gotten laid by showing a girl pictures of his cats. My dad once told me that a low-maintenance skank is cheaper then a high-maintenance wife. Think about that one.

I'm not a birther. I don't believe O is a super secret Muslim. I don't measure how far a man bows while in Asia. Therefore, I must love Obama. Makes perfect since to me... Give me a break

It's a steam powered battery for a Tardis. It was an effective tool used in the dark ages for time traveling. Also known as a "Wibbly Wobbly Timey-Wimey Steamy Thingy". Think of it as uranium for the modern day fulx capacitor. It can also be used to decrab Finnish dwarfs. True story!

There is a member on TGO that was on that show. I don't remember if it was the first season or this one. There is a thread around here somewheres with him talking about it.

Everything works and looks fine for me on the mobile version. The only thing that is screwed up is the lack of a "PageX" button in threads.

The opening of a twister came within a few hundred yards of me. My neighbor and I were both dumb enough to stand out in the front yard and watch it as it made it's curve towards E. Brainerd and Apison. No major damage around me other then a few trees down and some cars as far as I can tell (I've not ventured out that far yet). This was the same EF4 that completely leveled Ringgold, GA (I just live a couple miles away) so we were pretty damn lucky. My brother didn't fair too well. He lost his house and everything they had in that same tornado. Thankfully he and the SIL were at work with their 3 YO girl at the babysitter's so they were not harmed.

I have several friends that live in and around that neighborhood. It's a pretty nice and relaxed area. And quiet. That map say's "Rossville" but it's really Walker county. Rossville is just a small crack-pot town with crooked politics, cops that like pulling you over for going 36 in a 35, and meth labs. I would not recommend moving any closer to Rossville then that. Down in "the city" of Fort-O you will find everything you could want. Plenty of restaurants (sit down and fast food), shopping, a WalMart where you can get shot over a tomato... You have a couple of Bi-Los, Food Lion, an Aldi (sp), Big Lots, a couple of smoke shops. Just about anything really. If you have kids, there is a really nice park\playground. No bars or adult hangouts in Fort-O. There are some over on Rossville Blvd in Chattanooga but I would not go to one. Actually, go check one out! You might like them! I'll second Lester on the diversity of the income\homes. I know one couple that lives just off of Park City. Really nice ranch style home. Every house on their street has a pool. Everything is just homely. Nothing too fancy, but still very nice. Have another friend that lives on W. Schmitt in an old run down trailer. You could hit a golf ball from one back yard to the other. If you stop for gas at the little Favorite Market, you may pull up next to a Bimmer or a Pinto...

I'm glad that you clarified which you were talking about because that post could have gone either way...

Lack of support kills HB 2021, parking lot bill
strickj replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Worriedman, I never suggested that age doesn't bring experience and wisdom. But yall are simply using the age difference here to dismiss me as "young and dumb". I could use the same argument here and call yall old and senile. But I am not going to do that because I know that we are all full grown adults here. Going back to my analogy of Ted Kennedy being older then you two. Does that make everything he said and stood for right? I mean, if all we're going off of age alone here... It's not hyperbole. I should be able to express my thoughts or I shouldn't. Some here have expressed that I should not be allowed to express my thoughts in this thread. I have waited to see if I get any PMs from people I've attacked or wronged, which would be a very valid reason for me to go away. But I haven't received any complaints. No one has reported any posts of mine (and some have been reported) that break forum rules. (the closest post that I can find that breaks forum rules is the "young, dumb, and full of ****" comment. But, I didn't take that personally, even though it's directed towards me.) Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that this is just another "but he's a moderator and should not be allowed to disagree with me" card. -

strickj replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You are completely 100% right on that. On written law, anyway. Real world application and case law differs. Here is one example of an ADA protected person being denied employment: Company didn’t hire deaf man because of safety: Was it discrimination? | SafetyNewsAlert.com | Occupational safety and health news for workplace safety professionals. -
I think you're making too much of it. It's just a song. :gasp: Don't jump on me yet... let me explain... The Star Spangled Banner has been bastardized. It get's played at sporting events like "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", and "Who Let The Dogs Out" :stomps feet: I find that offensive. The song should get the respect that it deserves and it can not get that respect when it's gets slung around like some floozy at a party (do you respect that girl?). Save it for the important things. Also keep in mind, that for some, taking during the song may not be disrespectful in the least. Take showing respect to God for instance. Some chose to show respect to their God by going to church 3 days a week. Others chose to go shopping during church but pay respect to their God by other actions. For me, I respect the reason the song was written and I remember that each time I hear it. I respect this country. I respect the people that fight for this country. The song itself.... is just another song...
