Define living Went from a serious hobbyist to commercial with lots of equipment about a year ago

One that indirectly competes with WM's portrait studio. (commercial photographer) See, I can not compete with their untrained, min-wage, pimply faced button pusher. so instead of shooting family portraits for a price that I can not operate with, I shoot advertisements and other commercial stuff. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee139/strickj/blushad.jpg Adapt or die, et al. Did you have a business that was shut down by wm?

Yeah, what I said was cold. It's the cold hard truth. The guy that lives across the street from me owns several gas stations. Back around 15 years ago or so, when all of the super-sized gas stations started popping up everywhere, he owned one little "country" gas station. you remember the type - the dirty walls, old hole in the wall kind of place. well, one day Golden Gallon bought the piece of land directly across the street from him. Now, he knew that this was going to put him out of business so he decided to adapt so he could compete. He completely tore down his little hole in the wall place and built a super-sized place with lots of gas pumps, lots of open floor space, lots of products. When Golden Gallon put in a Subway, he put in a Quiznos. Etc. He now owns several gas stations and they all thrive. About the same time, the old full-serv Amoco in Brainerd had the same thing happen to them. A Golden Gallon bought the piece of land directly across the street from them and up went a super-sized gas station. The owner of the full-serve did not adapt and his business died. You can cling to the way things used to be all you want but at the end of the day, the businesses that adapt to today's market will be the ones to survive.

Not that this will surprise anyone... While at Academy, I asked a manager if someone may have been shot in the parking lot. He said nope.

Walmart does not offer enough firearms to compete with mom and pops. If a mom and pop is forced out of business over the loss of ammo sales, then they're doing something wrong. WM's hardware dept - which is larger then their firearm dept - does not put mom and pop hardware stores out of business. WM's clothing dept. does not put clothing shops out of business. WM's shoe dept. does not put shoe stores out of business. WM's pharmacy does not put mom and pop pharmacies out of business. In fact, many mom and pops directly compete and thrive in WM shopping centers. The only mom and pops that went out of business were already too weak to compete in today's market. Adapt or die.

Well, I can not speak for everyone, but yes, I am. I would still be in the mental institution if I hadn't broken out. I captured a janitor and threatened him with a syringe filled with Windex, which allowed me to gain access to the guard shack and unlock the doors. About that time, my cyborg friend broke into the institution to help me escape. I took one bullet to the shoulder in the process.

I'll second this. I spent my days in scouts using an el cheapo tent and cot from the Brainerd Army Store. My sleeping bag was a hand-me-down that I still have to this day. Most of my troop bought their stuff from the same place. Go check them out!

Welcome to TGO, John

My PM box is open. Send me a police report of one of your many encounters and I'll post here that you are legit. Your identity, nor any identifiable details about the events, will ever be shared with the forum. And I'm sure Daniel and TMF are both willing to accept proof of your service via PM, too, without disclosing your identity.

And just in case you wanna say she was using the zoom on the camera; I counted about 4 or 5 steps from the officer from the front of his car to standing directly in front of her....
-
Did you even watch the video or are you just making up stuff to advance your argument?Ok, let's look at the facts then I'm ducking out of this mess. It's dark. The cops have no idea what she may or may not have. She's standing just a few feet behind the cops. See proof in the screen shot: At 0:48 - she stated that she was in her yard. Officer responds by telling her she's on the sidewalk. Again, see picture for proof of where she is. At 1:00 - the officer tells her that he doesn't feel safe with her standing behind them. At 1:07 - he repeats himself and explains why he doesn't feel safe. At 1:10 - the cop mentions he doesn't feel safe because of her anti-cop comments made before she started taping. At 1:20 - he repeats himself about not feeling safe because of her comments. At 1:37 - he tells her again that he does not feel safe with her standing behind them. At 1:46 - she acknowledges that they do not feel safe because of her proximity At 1:56 - he says he does not feel safe, yet again. At no time does the officer ever indicate, in any way, shape or form, that she is being arrested for video taping them. She would have been arrested regardless. Period. Proof is in the video.

Posted in another thread: I don't see any "what ifs" here... Thread titled "who's been shot?" And the last lie: Go ahead, Jon. The gigs up. Come clean. Or, post up a police report from one of your many, many encounters.

So, you'll agree that charges are regularly dropped on people that are guilty but still stand by your argument? Charges were dropped because they're minor charges and because of the attention this has received from cop haters. Look, you can clearly see in the video that she interfered with the stop by being on the sidewalk so close to the cops. Her filming had no bearing on this. She was told, repeatedly, to move back and she refused. You can argue until you're blue in the face that she was not a threat or did not interfere, but the evidence shows otherwise. The cops had to take their attention off of the person pulled over. That is interference. From the update: As far as threats go, how many cops are shot, killed or attacked by bystanders, friends, etc each year? That goes back to my baby killer comment earlier. Cops pressed charges on her but lost. Weren't you one that was arguing in that thread about how guilty she was?

What do YOU use to clean and oil your gun?
strickj replied to pattywak's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I use whatever is cheapest\available for cleaning and Tetra for lube. I'm not going to go broke by spending a couple bucks on a tube of Tetra -
There's a perfectly logical explanation for that. See, he simply has so many drug lords and international criminals operating under diplomatic immunity that he has had to enter the Federal Witness Protection Program.
-
Are charges not dropped on guilty criminals every singe day? And you saying that your "rights" trump their safety is BS. Your rights to record end where their rights to safety begin. Let's see you try that argument in the field. Next time you see an officer with his weapon drawn on a suspect, get in their face with your cell and see how long you stay there Next time a natural disaster happens, show up and say "yes, officer, I know the area is cordoned off but I'm the press. See, I have a cell phone camera". Again, I never said that a non-press person isn't protected by the 1st. In fact, everyone is. Everything you record, video, capture or write is protected. Everything. But, you do not necessarily have the right to gather whatever you want, whenever you want, if that means you're breaking the law to get it. You can not stand in the middle of the interstate to take pictures or video, press or not. Read here First Amendment | LII / Legal Information Institute
-
I didn't see anything you quoted that says that everyone with a camera is the press. Now, I never said (at least I don't think I did... not going back to look) that people are not allowed to record or take pics. I'm just saying that they are not "the press". The content that is gathered is protected by the 1st, regardless of job title. So, that baby killer in FL did nothing wrong? Charges are dropped, reduced and changed everyday on guilty criminals. Doesn't mean that a guy caught red-handed driving drunk is not guilty if his charges are plead down to reckless driving

Maybe next week he'll tell us the story of his trailer being shot up by machine gun fire that was shot out of a helicopter. Or how he had to draw his weapon while buying a Christmas tree

There was nothing on the news last night or this morning. Local news are usually pretty good at reporting stuff like this. There was a story just a day or three back of some guy driving himself to the ER with a gunshot wound. It was aired even before the "story" was known. Makes one wonder the validity of the OP....

There's simply nothing mo better then using Doritos to make taco salads and nachos. :headstotacobell:

Question for you current Netflix customers. A couple of comments have me confused here. I dropped Netflix to try out Blockbuster before the changes took place. Now by looking at their site, it appears you can only get 1 out at once added to the streaming service. Can you opt out of the streaming service and just use their mail service? Is there still an 2 or 3 out at once service? I dropped my cable a while back, too, for partly the same reason. I had every single package they offered, minus the all Spanish package. Called them one day to re-up my discount and they told me the only way I could continue receiving the discount was to add an additional service. Told them I'm not paying an additional 15 or so dollars for a package of channels I couldn't understand. I intended to buy some satellite equipment... but once I saw how good the over the air stations were, I decided to just save my money and keep the "HD" antenna. About the only thing I miss is the movie channels. But like you said, Netflix solved that.
