  1. It's for security. If people know there are hundreds sitting in a register, the chances for robbery go way up. It might not sound that stupid to the young clerk when a gun is pointed at her head... See, this is why I could never be a judge. I would have set his bond at 1 million dollars just to F with him
  2. Well, call me nuts or crazy but I still consider downtown to be pretty safe. Even little ole' helpless me will park and 'foot it to go where I need to go. It's even getting to be a common sight to see joggers and loft dwellers out later at night around the north end on Main. A place you wouldn't want to drive at night a few years ago.
  3. Lots of guns went off out here in the county. I thought about joining them (I am sober, surprisingly) and popping a few off in my hill. I got as far as the screen door and got a big whiff of 36 degrees and that was the end of that. Oosh!
  4. The key word there is "old". The bulbs with the old filament will no longer be available. The bulbs with the new filament design will replace those. Incandescent bulbs are not being phased out at all.
  5. I'm splitting the above posts from another thread. _____________________________________________ Nope, isn't. The Truth About the New Light Bulb Law | Financially Fit - Yahoo! Shine
  6. Great pics, Matt! I think he was talking about a commercial permit to shoot in the city, not a permit to shoot inside. I would have told him to bug off I never knew that place excised let alone The Green Mile was filmed in TN. Awesome!
  7. OS,were you the one holding the leash of the one being leashed?
  8. Playing devil's advocate here... Cash is king in retail and the customer standing in front of you with that cash is the one that get's attention. Not the guy on the phone price calling that will probably never buy anything. Saying "I was going to buy something" doesn't count when the odds say otherwise (the OP called 8 places). Had the attendant catered to you instead of the customer, I'm sure we'd be reading a rant from the customer about being ignored when he was ready to buy. We've all read plenty of those threads before. That said, it's still not an excuse to be an ass to callers. A simple "Outpost Armory, please hold" would have been the appropriate thing to do. Anyone that's worked 5 minutes in retail knows this. That said, said, I hate reading bad reviews about shops. Seems we only have very few shops around that understands what it takes to provide customer service.
  9. Correction: I said the projects on 26th earlier but it was the projects on 38th that were turned into crack condos. All of those areas are kinda spotty now. Even East Ridge, which has a long record of being Chattanooga's better half, is seeing their share of crime. I witnessed an attempted car jacking in front of that drive-thru mart sometime back. It happened around 2 or 3 0'clock on a weekday as I recall.
  10. They are now reporting ten people have been shot downtown. It's a number of things really. The city has "revitalized" several areas, like replacing the projects on 26th with "condos". Of course, when you kick out a few hundred crack heads and thugs, they will go to other areas. They have recently decided to crack down on the other projects by kicking out problem tenants, gang members, drug dealers and the like. And again, once they're out, they have to go somewhere. Then the crackdown on clubs I mentioned earlier. The mayor thinks if they close down a problem club or "crack down" on a problem area that the problem will just go away. The problem does not just magically go away. The problem just moves. What we are seeing right now with downtown is the move. On top of all of that, the mayor has refused to admit there is a gang problem in the city. And since there's no problem, there needs to be no fix. Good news, though. They have suspended the beer license of one of the clubs downtown and have posted gunbuster signs in the park. And that plan to outfit the juvenile detention center to accommodate detained kids out past curfew has been put on hold for budget reasons. (Meanwhile, nearly 15 grand has recently been spent on travel for the mayor. )
  11. You can make fun of him all ya want. He will soon be your mayor too! On a humorous note, after the courts upheld the recall, a spokesman for CPD stated that SWAT will be on standby once the eviction notice is given. Maybe if we're lucky, he'll refuse to leave the building and Swat will get to play
  12. Started off this morning with Baileys in my coffee. Don't remember how many of those I had. Rounded lunch a killer mexican or three. Still nursing some left over mexican.
  13. This made the Drudge Report News from The Associated Press In addition, one person was shot and a stabbing. Problem is, the city has been cracking down on clubs and hang-out spots in the shady areas for some time. Now all of those places have been shut down so the gangs are going downtown where all the tourists are. We can think the piece of **** mayor and city council for this brilliant idea. And to top it all of, we can not even carry in the parks downtown where a lot of this **** is happening. Another brilliant idea by the mayor.
  14. You want us to spend the day with your family? I'm totally there!
  15. I like Jose but I'll still pick up a bottle since you're twisting my arm and all Looks to be about half the price so that's already a big plus to me. Thanks for the suggestion
  16. A lot of online retailers offer stuff from 3rd parties like that. There's usually a little box to check or it gives you the option to "continue on" to sign up. It can be a little confusing and misleading when you check out if you don't know what it is. You should have contacted your card company and disputed the charges.
  17. I've never been able to tell much difference in the tastes. And I've certainly never tasted any fruity or nutty flavors like they describe, either. Of course, I don't drink my liquor like a fruitcake with all that air slurping, mouth sloshing and tongue slapping. I much prefer the cheaper mid-grade bottles. Jäger, Jose and the Captain are my favs. Hold the mixes, water and coke.
  18. How long would it take to reach in a window or open a car door and shoot a cop? Huh? The key word in "unreasonable search and seizure" is "unreasonable". Not many would consider it to be unreasonable for a cop to "search" (to secure the weapon, he must look, right?) a bag you told him a gun is. It is illegal to carry a gun in TN.
  19. Did I just watch a woman ride a surfboard up a poop shoot?
  20. The first thing you do when you die is pee and poo yourself... so you're already off to a bad start. Which brings up an interesting kink in the whole zombie phenomenon. 10-100 and 10-200 are both skin breaker downers (technical term for diaper rash). One could assume if we're over run by zombies, then all the survivors would need to do is wait a week or two for the zombies' tissue to disintegrate. Figure under those conditions, diaper rash would set in, in a day-or two at max. Gangrene would set in and form fist sized holes in their bodies within a few more days. Within a couple of weeks, they'll look like a block of rotten swiss cheese..... Trying to shoot them would be completely useless. You can't hit something (or someone) that's filled with a bunch of gaping holes. Crap. I think I just blew the whole "we need weapons for the zombies" argument wide open.
  21. Your link is to a small town in Syria. Might have problems getting folks to drive that far (If you click the search button, TN pops up so your cords are right... just your map link is wrong)
  22. Requiring ID to vote can be a hardship for two reasons. 1) The cost of ID. For some, a simple $10 bill is the difference between eating and not eating, getting their kid a book for school or not, or having enough gas to get to work or not. Believe it or not, $10 is a lot of money to some. 2) Not being able to get the ID. For elders, those without transportation, etc, traveling across a county (or further) for an ID is impossible. I believe both of these issues have been addressed with amendments to the law. Those that can not afford the ID will be given free ID and those without a means to travel can vote absentee.
  23. Could be the brand of gas or even the station itself. It's not uncommon for the little man-hole thingies to leak allowing water and other fluids to get into the station's tanks.
  24. Depends. Where are you located? One range, CHRPC near Chattanooga, you can shoot in three directions from anywhere on the range. They also have movable target stands that you can place where you like.
  25. You may be the best driver in the world. But that doesn't make you a wizard that's capable of controlling other drivers, kids crossing the road, animals, blow outs, and the various other things that cause wrecks. I can assure you that you are not the first person that I have met or helped that has had your attitude. I'll tell you right now, when you do wreck (and trust me, you will when you're as reckless as you are) please call me (if you're dead, have your loved ones call) so I can come laugh at your situation. Being you're here in E.TN, you can ask for me by name at Siskins.
