Tennessean LTE: "Gun bill interferes with property rights"
strickj replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Where are you getting the notion that it does apply to citizens? The Constitution only covers what the gub can and can not do. It does not offer you a lick of protection or rights from citizens. If it did, do you think that movie theaters would be able to limit a person's right to free speech whilst a movie plays? Heck, far as that goes, do you think that moderators and message board owners would be able to remove a person's right to free speech on a message board? If you truly believe that the Constitution applies to citizens, then please PM me your home address so I can exercise my right to free speech. I will be there promptly at 3am with a bull horn and blast whatever crosses my tongue. -
Sign up on the national do not call list. The FTC takes offenses much more seriously when you're on the list. There's an app for that. Seriously. I haven't received any unsolicited calls since I left contractual plans behind so I can not comment of the app's effectiveness, but I do have the one for texts. It works perfectly!

Tennessean LTE: "Gun bill interferes with property rights"
strickj replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Some are wanting to compare race, creed, sex and disabilities with something they want to stick in their pocket. They are wanting extra "rights" for an object they carry and referencing the equal rights movements (yes, there was a movement, a major one actually, for equal rights for those with disabilities from mid-late '70s thu '92). This is what's getting under my skin and is becoming offensive. And no, I'm not an uber sensitive cry baby, either. I'm just reaching my point after explaining this to the same people over and over again. It is not anyone's choice to be black. It is not anyone's choice to be disabled. It is not anyone's choice to be a woman (well, I guess it is sometimes ) It is a choice to put a gun in your pocket. No different then carrying pocket change or a comb. When you [reads; anyone here comparing the two] get's discriminated against based on something they are and can not change, then we'll talk. Far as your second paragraph; No, I don't forget that. But I also understand that the Constitution only applies to the government. Not private property owners. Referencing and quoting the Constitution over private property rights such as this is like referencing the Bible for fixing a broken stereo. -

I don't care what you think. It is not the same thing. And I'm about to reach my breaking point with people comparing me and my disability with an inanimate object that you choose to carry with you. Is this really that hard to understand? would you like me to post a simpler pictorial showing the difference? You can quote the Constitution or any old forgotten about law that you want. The simple, and yet somehow very hard to understand, fact is, you do not now, nor have you ever, had the right to carry a gun onto private property. The Constitution only applies to the government. _________________________________ I swear, I feel like publishing a pop-up picture book that explains this and sending a copy to some of the people on this board... -

As someone who is a gun owner and gun carrier and also has a disability, I can tell you NO, it is not a double standard. Carrying a weapon is a choice. No different the the color of shirt you decided to put on this morning. Being denied access because of a disability, race, sex or creed is not the same thing. Information>ignorance -
It's like the old saying, "Einstein didn't sell ammo at Walmart" ...or something like that

Found some really interesting stuff on him on a baseball card board. He's well known on there for being [past tense?] a cop and wanting to beat his wife. One thread was about a him talking a member into loaning him $500 to purchase a card collection to resell. He skipped out after he got the money never to be heard from again.

The Obama administration has been forthright with information regarding SEAL missions. In addition, the Obama administration urged the SEALS in the movie "Act of Valor" to be in the movie when approached by the movie's directors. This "urging" came after each SEAL turned down the movie directors' offer to be in the movie. This has caused some backlash in DC, from both citizens and Military officials, since the SEAL's best tool has always been their secrecy, which is now becoming a thing of the past. I used one (still have a brand spakin new one in the ole gun box...$300 bucks well spent, eh) in one of my XDs a few years ago. It worked well with zero problems with gun reliability. The laser itself, though, needs attention to retain reliability. Oil and crud can work its way into the battery compartment. If you do not keep the batteries and battery compartment clean, the laser can fail. This is easily avoided by using grease instead of oil in the gun as grease doesn't travel. As mentioned above, carbon can accumulate on the lens and cause the laser to become difficult to see. The buildup can be easily wiped off with your shirttail, though.

There was an interesting article the other day about gas consumption "tanking". http://www.oftwominds.com/blogfeb12/gasoline-tanking02-12.html Now, someone explain to me again how gas prices rise when demand increases... ___________________________ Lester, I'd opine that repealing gas taxes would only affect gas prices very little. I'd be afraid that the only thing it would affect is Oil's profit margin. IMO, it's all in the speculation of oil. I find it absurd the we allow the speculation of oil as it's only rhyme and reason is to increase gas prices. You can't even profit from real estate investments (in the same manner of buying and reselling for profit) unless you sit on the real property for a few years or "flip" it. But with oil, you simply buy it today and resale it tomorrow to another speculator. God knows how many times a barrel of oil is purchased and resold before it ever reaches the end.

I'm man enough to admit that I scream like a little girl when I see a spider. I'm also man enough to admit that I slept on the couch last night. And I didn't spend more then 5 minutes checking the compartments of the couch with a flashlight. ^^ True story

Saw a big black and white spotted spider in the bedroom just before laying down around 1am. Decided to google it to see what the risk was for leaving him be (lost him behind the dresser while trying to smash). The searching through dozens of spider pics did nothing but make my squeamishing squeamisher. It's now rounding 4:30 and I can't let myself close my eyes.

This story is udderly ridiculous. The government shouldn't be crying over spilled milk like this. The guy in the story should not take any bull and let them know just who's bossy. Alright, I'm done and moooving on now.I'll be here all week. Be sure to cowtip your waitresses...

That's what blender and microwave salesmen said when they were fazed out in the '70s. "But does your wife know that she needs 4 blades in her blender?" -
