1.
Your right you should obviously allow bad things to happen at work or risk the wrath of the company. no matter what! I would hate to work where you do.
Again, apples and tomatoes. "Symbolically" telling your boss that you quit will only change your employment status.
Those of us who did serve have already put our money where our mouth is. We did so not with words but with deeds. So your damn right we have proved our love for and willingness to fight for this country.
Yes, you proved your love for this country. A lot of people in this thread are using their military career as justification for signing the petition and to show their patriotism. One has no baring on the other. Timothy McVeigh was all of the above and he too thought that he was a patriot. He was never a patriot. I appreciate your service a great deal and would never try to discredit that. I'm simply pointing out that a military career means nothing in terms of one's patriotism as is being used in this thread to justify this petition. There are at least two posters that are former or current military and are outspoken against the petition. If a military career does matter, I guess that makes it about even, eh.
Read the doggone constitution! Petition of the government over our grievances is a fundamental right guaranteed by our constitution. Speaking out about them and yes signing petitions about them are exactly why we have the first amendment.
You exercised your right to petition the government, yes. But you asked for succession. You said that you no longer choose to be a US citizen. IMO, you should be awarded what you specifically asked for. Meanwhile, I'll remain a TN resident and a proud US citizen and will continue to have the constitutional protections that you gave up.

  4.
What do you think an open door policy is? What do you think a suggestion box is for if not to alert the management of your concerns?
Apples and tomatoes. No one made a suggestion nor aired a concern. They signed a secession petition. Like I said, try doing that at work and see how fast you loose your job
No one here has advocated armed conflict .But by all means sir please keep pushing that meme. It makes it so much easier to discount what would otherwise be good points you make.
Never said that, did I? Simply pointing out that people in this thread are using their military service and "love of their country" to show their patriotism. yeah, Timothy McVeigh fit the same standards as many here have.
It is nice to know how many of you are willing abdicate your 1st amendment rights and persecute those of us who stand on ours.
What Constitutional rights? By signing the petition, you have declared that you no longer choose to be a US citizen. If the US government wants to take you up on that offer and remove your citizenship, then you no longer have any rights from the United States Constitution. I'm not taking anything away from the signers of the petition.
  5. You guys try singing a "symbolic" letter of resignation at work and let us know how that works out for you There are two differences between patriots and terrorists. - Numbers.
Have to have enough to win the fight. Small percentage is not enough
- Who wins.
The Confederates were traitors. Today they would be domestic terrorists. Attempting to seceded today would see the same label.
Timothy McVeigh was a "patriot" by the standards found within this thread. He was in the military. He loved his country. He saw the union as tyrannical. He was a strong 2nd supporter. He once wrote: "Is a Civil War Imminent? Do we have to shed blood to reform the current system? I hope it doesn't come to that. But it might" I am in complete agreement with Dolomite. Even signing a secession petition "symbolically" is traitorous and security clearances should be revoked. You have signed your name on an official petition declaring your desire to no longer be a US citizen. I would find it rather humorous if DC accepted and removed US citizenship to those that signed it.
  6. You do not carry the "i". You carry the "a". His pronunciation is: dra-eee-ns. ####ing poser
  7. Not really. Remember the Handy Gas Plant from Scouts. had to cheat and look up the exact name Figured it was one of those when I saw the big fuel tank. I can still taste the chilli we made on that thing too.
  8. Handy Gas Plant with a pasteurizer?
  9. A man could make a lot of money by setting up a UPS store kiosk at busy airports.
  10.
There's a bunch of people who's profiles I look at daily. Because I like to.
Is that man handcuffed in the back of your van?
  11. Meh... They'll never do that. The "detainees" there are just that - detainees. They are suspected terrorists or terrorist snitches. They can not be moved to US prisons because they are not prisoners and have not been sentenced to prison. Every detainee would have to be officially charged, trialled and sentenced. The ones found not guilty would still be without a home. They can not come here and they can not return to their ####hole country either. The only home for them is Gitmo.

    Logitech

Lester, No, my cheap mouse is wireless USB with one of those tiny USB receivers. The functions are a copy cat of the Logitech above other than that. It works quite well as long as batteries are strong. It can get quite darty once they start fading. AAA batteries usually need charging every couple of weeks or so. I figure it get's used-or is left on-for 6 or 7 hours a day total. Those Wacom stuffs are simply amazing. Their mouse is super duper accurate itself and their pens even more so. I like and use the medium size pads myself. The small ones are too small for real good precise accuracy. The large ones are the most precise but require too much arm and hand movement. The medium seems to be the perfect combination of compactness and accuracy. The tablets, pens and mouse are fully customizable. Everything from pressure sensitivity and functionally to clicks and precision. I have one tablet button programmed to open firefox and go directly to google (not my homepage). Have two buttons on the tablet set to type different words that I use most commonly for work. Have another tablet button set to open my current work folder. One mouse button is set to type out my contact info. The 'meeses and pens are wireless and battery-less. I'm not smart 'nuff to know how they make a device without any power work... but they do. Figure they use the same technology that's used in those wireless Iphone charging pads. Dunno. I would absolutely love to have one of the Wacom Cintiqs (live view tablet). Those things are still quite expensive though. I do have and occasionally use an older Toshiba convertible touch screen laptop with a stylist pen. It gives me the ability to see exactly where I'm drawing which is a similar experience to old fashioned pen and paper. But that comes at the expense of not having pressure sensitivity or any of the customizations available with Wacom. I will probably end up with one of the new Win8 convertibles that are coming out now before it's all said and done with. They will allow you to draw directly on the screen in pen and paper fashion, while also allowing pressure sensitivity control with the pens. Something like this maybe http://www.engadget....series-7-slate/. Seems these new Win8 convertibles are going for comparative prices to the Wacom Cinitqs. Course, the "built for touchscreen Win8" 'puters will not allow the same customizations or accuracy available with Wacom tablets, either, but still a lot more options available there than with previous convertibles and Win versions. I'd put money on odds that convertible laptops will soon supersede graphics tablets before too long.
  13.
RED BANK, TN (WRCB) -- The sign on a Dayton Boulevard, long under construction, but soon-to-be eatery, is shrouded, for now. But the business's web site is up and the name has people talking, after they have read the name to themselves a few times. Sofa King Juicy Burgers. "It's kind of an odd name," said Carolyn Latiff. Channel 3 caught up with Latiff as she dined at the Waffle House next door. She smiled because she was already hip to the name and what we were about to ask. In the corner, though, was a group of students from Baylor. Our copy of the Sofa King Juicy Burgers homepage was the first they had seen of what is going into the building now painted beige and showcasing a life-sized silhouette of a steer. 15.
Gotta admit monkeylizard ... The sneezing monkey from that link posted shares a strong resemblance to the late, Michael Jackson. 16. First world problems One of the reasons I get such a kick out of the doom and gloomers. I'll start worrying when people stop lining up for days for the newest gadget.
My sister's boyfriend has a friend in the retail business as a merchandiser, He says that most of the stuff that stores have on sale at extraordinary discounts are manufactured specially for the sale and are usually inferior quality as compared to the same item sold a month ago. He says that name brand clothes are made with cheaper material, electronics are skimped on quality components or parts are missing altogether, such as ports on a laptop or refurbished hard drives. He also said if you compare model numbers on some merchandise, you'll see that they vary slightly, like an extra letter or number at the end. This means it was made specifically for the retailer for the sale.
Partly true sometimes. Lots of black friday 'puters are sold for pennies on the dollar. Most of the skimping will be with software or features. Manufactured for BF or not, the goal is to get people in the store. Even if the store looses money on a BF sale item, they will make monies on the service/warranty, upgrades and the sells of other unneeded items.

    Logitech
Yep, until the last couple of years the typical logitech usb receiver was still "less than convenient" but more convenient than wired devices. Little wired pods that needed to be plugged in behind the puter and set somewhere in line of sight of the keyboard and mouse for reliable reception. Maybe it is an interference issue because some days they would transmit fine and other days (maybe more RF-generating gadgets running near the desk) had to move the receiver hockey puck nearly touching the mouse. The modern tiny usb receivers seem lots better connection and less spaghetti stringing out from behind the computer. Am still using an HP usb keyboard and mouse that came with the Win7 HP quad-core puter three years ago. Maybe logitech makes it for HP, dunno. It has a small nub of a receiver and works good. That last generation of logitech mouse and keyboard was using on the mac before these latest gadgets, had a usb receiver a couple of inches long, about the size of a USB memory stick. It had some range problems and was long enough to be a "break off" accident hazard directly plugged into the puter, but also came with a little wired extension stand so you could set it on the desk. The new nub receivers seem to have better range and responsiveness than even the ones from three years ago.
The advancement is amazing for sure. So much so that I refuse to buy a mouse for more than 5 bucks or so anymore (ebay/china). Excluding my Wacom tablets/pens/mouses. My wireless laptop mouse does everything the Logitech above does but it is certainly not built nearly as well and will not last more than a few months. I'll even keep it in my pocket while working so I can access the laptop from across the room without having to move. Something my last Logitech couldn't do reliably and accurately. I figure by the time it wears out, they'll come out with some new function or battery saving technology so it'll be time to upgrade anyways.

    Logitech

I remember my first wireless Logitech mouse. Durn thing had a receiver that was about the size of a tv remote control. It had to be plugged into an electrical socket via a big adapter. Came with a long USB cord and it had to sit close to and in a direct view of the mouse. The mouse had no off button and the batteries would only last about a day or two before needing replaced. It had right/left click buttons and the newly invented scroll wheel that.... only..... scrolled Worst part of all is how much I actually paid for the extra inconvenience. I think I still have it laying around somewhere come to think of it. Might try to find it to post a pic or two for nostalgia sake.
  19.
It is a felony in Daytona Beach to hit a surfer with your fishing rig when you cast even if it is by accident. This is one of the many erroneous "mala prohibita" BS laws in this secular progressive, entitlement, police state we call the "United States". Lose the right to defend my family in a crisis over that? Get real.
So, your solution to one over-punishing felonious law is to do away with the same punishment for all felonies? Like I said, there's no reason to go all bleeding free love on felons when all that is needed is to repeal a few bad felonies on the books.
  20.
I was deathly afraid of "La Chupacabra" when I was little. My best friend's mother was Mexican and he always told me these stories about seeing it every summer when they would visit Mexico. I find it funny how folks believe that "monsters" like this just turn up one day. I may be totally wrong with this assumption but haven't we pretty much explored all of the dry land on the earth? Bigfoot, Yeti's, Chupacabra's all would have turned up by now.
Maybe not.
Biologists have described and classified 1.7 million plants and animals as of 2010, less than one-quarter of the total species estimated in the world. Scientists figure there are still over five million species waiting to be found. The table below lists how many undiscovered species exist for each type of plant and animal.
http://www.currentre...ng-on-earth.php Have to keep in mind that the creatures in our garbage cans do not exist until a scientist declares it so. Makes ya wonder how many creatures that are normal everyday eats for the "outback" types in 3rd worlds that we have never laid eyes on. They discover lots of plants (new miracle drugs) in these areas everyday that have been used for centuries by their "medicine man" to treat sickness. I'm sure some little medicine man has been rubbing onion leaves on goobers to help tribe erections for centuries before Pfizer came along and discovered sildenafil. Not saying that I believe in chupacabras or big feets but there is a possibility that they could exist somewhere or did exist at some point in time. Very slight chance maybe... but still a chance I suppose. And yes, I said big feet... never seen a creature with only one big foot and one little foot, have you? Now, where did I leave my black panther....
  21.
I agree with Strickj on this one. If you have served your sentence, then your debt has been paid and you should not be forced into a second class citizen role with diminished rights and opportunity. The manner in which we handle ex-cons promotes recidivism. What it boils down to for me is that a gun is nothing more than a tool. If I can't trust you with a gun then I can't trust you with a knife or a screwdriver or a hammer or even a car. All are potential weapons. If you can't be trusted with anything that can be used as a weapon, then how can I trust you to walk free in society?
Not me. I say a big N-O. Part of the punishment for felonies is the loss of rights and I'm fine with that. The "if they can not be trusted, they should be locked away" argument just does not work as well as it sounds. For one, excessive punishment can be unconstitutional. For two, tax payers are not willing to pay for the jails and prisons we have now. they sure as heck would not pay for doubling or tripling the budget to keep them locked away. Then there's the whole thing about who determines the trustworthiness. I'm not conformable with the power courts have currently with all of the sentencing standards and limits in place. I durn sure wouldn't want a judge with the power to incarcerate someone for life due to the court's opinion of trustworthiness. I wouldn't want lawmakers to determine this by writing blind and blanketed laws either. I think a much better option would be to change some of the felony offenses to non-felonies.
  22. Someone arrived with their **** in a box and you shot them?
  23. Here's the thing. I have repeatedly said that it can be offensive to have who and what you are compared to a personal choice. Not only in this discussion but in several others as well. To be told that being disabled, to be black, to be mentally disabled, to be born in France, to be... whatever, is the same thing as putting on a pair of shoes, is offensive. But what really get's under my skin is explaining why it can be offensive and politely asking that it not be done... and coming back to see the same people making the same offensive comments over and over. And not only that, but also making passive digs about it and me in the process. I will stand by my comment above and will not alter it. If a person is unable to make the behemothic distinction between a person's race/disability/etc and a personal choice, they are either being impetuous or are just plainly stupid. And if that statement offends you, well, cry me a fricken river.
  24.
I see that some on this thread seem to have the opinion that government control over rights is ok in some cases and not in others. Seems like we all want to have it both ways. It has also become obvious to me that no minds are being changed on this thread, only arguments become more heated and devolve into quasi or outright personal attacks, and/or mis-perceived personal insults. I might add that this is not good even when/if it comes from a moderator. Think I will devote my time to other, more productive threads now.
First of all, if you have a problem with me or anything that I have said, then address me on the issue or report my post. Secondly, I ponder on the mental capabilities of anyone who can not make the behemothic distinction between the government stopping forced admittals to asylums, lobotomy and torturous practices and choosing to carrying an inanimate object.
  25.
Meh. I volunteer for turkey day so I can be off on Christmas. For all of the bad points of my employer, they at least attempt to be equitable in the dispensing of misery amongst the employees.
It's a mind trick!!!
