  1. Awesome. Merle is back too. I like the whole Evil Dead prosthetic he was rocking there. I am interested to see if Merle's hand takes the place of Rick's. I liked the fact they were using cans on their guns, or at least that pistol. That was groovy.
  2. For some odd reason, I am not in the slightest bit surprised that a thread about 1911s took me to Bac's Carpet.
  3. Now I feel cheated paying $30 transfer fees. I would wait to do two at once to cut the cost in half.
  4. I think a lot of folks are missing the point here. You are still required to pay the taxes on an item you order off the internet and have shipped to you from out of state. Go read the fine print on Amazon. They started sending notices to their customers this year notifying them of their purchases and how much they owe. Yes, this was a Tennessee vs. Amazon thing, but how long until all online purchases require the customer to pay the use taxes, because folks just don't. Good luck finding a $20 transfer anymore, most shops are at $30, throw in $20 in shipping, and yup, you just met taxes on a $500 gun. Except for the fact that you still technically owe $50 in taxes on the item. Just because the seller didn't charge you the taxes before shipping the item doesn't mean you are magically exempt. Now, sure, right now the government works on a faith system, sure, you don't have the man beating down your door telling you that he wants his $50 or he is going to put a lien against your car, home or business. However, like Amazon just started, how long before all the online retailers start charging the tax or be banned from selling in a certain state? That is something to think about when everyone gets on a public forum and starts touting how they buy online to save themselves from a sales tax.
  5. $25 including the background check is a pretty good deal to be honest.
  6. I know, but you said that they have a preferred FFL five miles from your house, what is their transfer fee if you use them? Just for fun, ask you local shop how much it would cost to have them order it. Seriously, tell them upfront that you are thinking of buying from Buds, and Buds wants $339 for it. Give them the chance to win your business. I have a local shop across the street from me. I live an hour away from Bud's. I could order anything and drive down and pick it up. I walked into my local dealer's shop, asked him what he would get for what I wanted, and he beat Bud's price by ten bucks, just because I asked him. He made the deal with me then, anything I wanted, he would beat Bud's by $10. I don't bother shopping anywhere else.
  7. Ran two boxes of PMC 115fr FMJ brass through it. Shoots like a dream. No malfunctions, shot a little below point of aim at 7 yds, but grouped two inches for the first ten rounds. I ran a magazine through my Glock, shot POA at 7 yds. Shot the Jericho again, and started hitting POA at 7yds, grouping two inches. I didn't try for accuracy or speed, just controlled shot a second. The trigger has some take up on it, in SA, but breaks clean. The DA pull is heavy, but smooth. The weight soaks the recoil right up makes it easy to get on target and control the muzzle. I am pleased.
  8. Not a bad price, what does the preferred FFL charge for a transfer? $35? How much is shipping? I still call the FFL when I order something to let them know it is coming, and how to contact me when they get it.
  9. I have to agree with a good portion of this. I grew up in Monroe County, Tellico Plains (Rural Vale) to be exact. While Vonore may have the industry, that is about it in the county. The rest of it is slowly spiraling into a drug infested decay of poverty and laziness. With that said though... I remember about twenty years ago (wow, it has been that long...) when Dolly came to town and expressed interest in buying Stokely Bottoms for a theme park. The town told her no. The history of the area was more important. The Indian Burial Ground, the Civil War cannon works, the WWII internment camp. I was proud of Tellico for that. Made my happy to know that my town would not be... whored out like Sevier County. Now, with one of the highest meth related arrest rates in the state, several close friends and family that are dead or in jail from a stagnant wasting away of nothingness that comes from being deep in the depths of hopelessness and poverty, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if Dolly had bought Stokely Bottoms. Now back to the OP. I miss my mountains so much. I feel lonely without them. I knew they meant a lot to me, but I didn't realize I would feel like this without them. As a kid a I traipsed all through those woods, camping, hunting, fishing, just wandering. I miss that. I understand completely why the leaf lookers come out, and I don't hold it against them anymore, not the way I used to.
  10. Break down and cleaning went well. I am impressed with it. Well built, everything fits so nice, no machine marks. Tomorrow should be good.
  11. Yeah, but at the end of the day they only get one shot at it, regardless of how many practice runs they had.Ken Block gets to film it a few dozen times until he has it right for the film. Don't get me wrong, I love his videos and I think they are great, however I just want folks to look at his record for the WRC and tell me he is the world's greatest driver. When he has one chance to get it right, he consistently doesn't.
  12. I found Academy's prices to be very competitive. Throw in the fact that Bill's is a hop, skip and a jump away in Maryville and he will order and price competitively, I found Knoxville to be quite pleasant. Now, where I live now, I will admit to a bit of being spoiled. The local shop matches Bud's online prices, since Bud's is just a hop, skip and a jump away, he kinda has to in order to remain competitive. It was my experience that unless I was building it was cheaper even with taxes (which technically you are supposed to pay even if you order online...) to buy local than to have it shipped in. The glaring difference came down to stripped lowers, which I could have shipped and transferred for a lot less than buying local. But that was the only case. To the OP: Now, as for what is in Murfreesboro, I don't have a clue. However, I am sure that any shop worth it's salt will be able to order from their supplier and get a P95 in stock. The 4473 is the paper you have to fill out, simple questions, all your info. They run your check and you are good to go. Takes ten minutes. Went through it earlier today. I was amused that it has two sections now for race, but that is covered elsewhere on the site.
  13. Yeah, the 17/22 is the common size, the 19/23 is the hard one to find. Regardless, good deal.
  14. You buy it, you tell the seller where to ship it too. You call the local store and tell them to expect it. The local store has to send a copy of their FFL to the shipper before they will ship. When it comes in, you go to the local store, pay for your background and transfer fee and fill out the papers. Very rarely does it come out cheaper buying online, shipping and transfer fees than just buying local. The point you are trying to get too though, if you bomb the background check, you have to pay shipping back, and a restocking fee. Another reason to buy local if that is a concern.
  15. Yeah. I am ordering that stock in a couple weeks...
  16. So, yesterday was my birthday, so since I ordered this a while back, I decided to pick it up today. Jericho 941B or a Magnum Research. Pictured next to a Glock 19 for comparison. This the compact version. 12+1. Full Steel. Here it is pictured on top of the Glock 19, as you can see, it is nearly the exact same size. However, the weight is a big difference, with the full steel frame. This is a Bianchi Carry Lok holster. It is my belt holster of choice. I have a Bladetech IWB Kydex as well, but it isn't shown for a reason... The Jericho fits and locks right into place with the leather holster. It won't in the Kydex. I will eventually get a fitted holster for the Jericho, I was just seeing if it would fit since the sizes are close. I will take her to teh range in the morning and put a few magazines through her to see how she does. Right now she is a range toy, I am not sure if she will replace my Glock as a carry weapon. The Glock has never failed through thousands of rounds. I would honestly feel naked without it. But I sure do like the new one.
  17. I enjoy his videos for what they are. However... They never show that it takes twenty takes for each segment, and when in a 'one time only' scenario (such as the WRC...) Ken Block consistently fails to perform. With that said, I wouldn't challenge him to a race. And even though we only see the final product, he is a hell of a precision driver.
  18. Most interesting...
  19. You can get a C&R license, but getting an actual FFL for personal use is near impossible. You have to show business purposes.
  20. Ding.I understand supporting your candidate, but the point is, when it gets down to the line, a vote for a fringe player takes a vote away that could be used to defeat the real enemy. When it comes down to the line, I will vote for Romney, even if he isn't my ideal choice, he is better than the alternative of wasting my vote and letting O win a second term. What is it Ben Franklin used to say? "Join or die?"
  21. Yeah, I would be happier with a 10/22 and a can. Bigger is not better. That is one of the things I am liking about The Walking Dead, they are showing the value is silent kills with melee weapons. A big bang just brings more walkers.
  22. Welcome aboard. Old cars are plentiful down there, just be careful, some folks get real proud of what they have. Don't mistake their pride for value. If you tinker around and play your patience, it is feasible to get into a nice solid project for under $3k, depending what you are looking for.
  23. Jackson MS PD issues 9mm in 147gr +P+. Just to throw that out there. Plus the THP switched to .357 SIG several years ago. I have an acquaintance who was indifferent about it other than he got to buy his .40 back.
  24. I was buying the Winchester Bulk from Academy when I was still in Knoxville. I stocked up a fair bit, it was cheaper than anything Walmart had, and all of my .22s love it.

    That gave me a chuckle.
