I bought a Phillips about five years ago that has done really well. It is the wife's 'bedroom TV'

My local shop offers it. I like doing business with him. I doubt Louisville KY is local though.

Preparedness and self sufficiency is something that is very deep in the Mormon doctrine. It is commonly accepted to have at least one year of food and supplies put up for each member of your family. I haven't been active in the church in twenty years, but it is still something that sits in the back of my head.

I have two of them. I bought a convertible from Gander Mountain for $200 or thereabouts on a whim. I had long ago given my Ruger Single Six to my brother, so I was without a cheap plinker. I never left for the range without that little bugger. I have never shot it past 10yd or so, but at those ranges, it was point and click, make that shell dance. I could pop empty shotshell hulls for hours and love every minute of it. I figure that little bugger has 3-4k through it. I liked it so much that when I was at the Academy soft opening in Knoxville, I bought another, this one had the Gadsen Flag faux ivory grips. I think I have $150 for it. That little bugger is just as much fun as the first one. It puts holes where I point it and eats whatever I feed it. I WILL be buying more. They are too fun and cheap not to. The finish is cheap, the fit isn't anything to write home about. I haven't shot them past 10yds with any attempt at accuracy, but under that you can write your name. I don't leave for the range without them. More importantly my wife and daughter both love to shoot them. They aren't a Ruger Single Six, but anyone thinking they are getting a Single Six for under two bills needs to rethink it. But they are fun. In my opinion, they are worth it.

I need to get off my duff and go visit their physical location, I keep hearing a lot of good about them. Buds physical location was worth visiting.

It would have been racist to do otherwise, then the media would have been calling it a justified attack.

I don't think it hurts to ask "Is that the best you can do on that?" I do it for nearly every large purchase. If the seller says no, that doesn't mean we don't do business, but if he says yes, it makes the business sweeter. I grew up horsetrading. When both parties walk away feeling they got the better deal, it is a good day all around.

I haggle on EVERYTHING. If the shop says they can't do it, I am fine. But I am always looking to get a better deal.

This has been around a while, the video they cite with the teacher was from a handful of years ago.

Good for them.

Some habits die hard, I STILL keep a quarter in my wallet.

My Mora has replaced all of my belt knives for common/rough use. I picked it up at SMKW a handful of years ago, and I am hard pressed to think of any other $10 as well spent.

The money isn't so much the issue as my drug addict sister taking the money is. That is the protection I am mainly concerned of. With my sister and her known criminal record (she is a felon with a long list of theft and drug/alcohol related convictions) I am concerned of issues there. With my mother being of sound mind making this decision, could my sister have a right to contest it? If I am the property owner and my sister is busted manufacturing meth on the property, could I be held liable? I am looking to protect my mother and ensure that she has a place to live, however she continues to allow my sister to come home, which invariably ends with police intervention. I can't tell my mother what she can and can't do, as my sister is her child as well, and my mother will do anything for her. This also means looking the other way when her truck is stolen and wrecked, or her bank account is cleaned out... If the house is in my name, would I be better able to protect my mother and ensure she has a place to call home? I am not after the property for personal gain, as I have made it clear several times over the past decade as my mother's health has declined. If any of my siblings were to move home and selflessly care for my mother, I promised they would get the house. That offer will always stand. But it seems that none of my siblings care enough, and I am 400+ miles away. My sister has moved home under this guise more than once, but again, she would just wind up robbing my mother blind. My mother is aware of this, and wishes she could stop being a door mat, but after a decade of doing it, it is obvious to everyone that she is incapable of saying no.

I love reading of their exploits, I wonder if they are members here from time to time...

I will try to keep this short and to the point as well as understandable. Tonight while talking with my elderly and frail mother, the subject of her land taxes came up. It seems she hasn't paid them this year. I was hit with a stream of excuses, the root of all was the unspoken truth, that my poor helpless sister of course needed the money more... But we will cover that later. My mother is on SS and has no income other than that. A few years ago I looked up a program that would help her and passed the info along. So I asked her what had ever come of that. Well, the answer was not what I expected. Her mother died four years ago. Her parents owned the property. Since their death, she never had the deed put in her name. She has been paying the land taxed (until this year) and going on her merry little way. The property was left to her in the will, but it seems she never followed up on anything after that point. We have reached a point in my mother's life where realities of tomorrow are not as rosy as they are for a younger person. As well as her limited income things aren't always easy for her to cope with as they might be for a younger person. As such, my mother has asked if I would be interesting in taking ownership of the property. I understand that I would be responsible for any associated costs as well as the past due taxes, but my question is more along the lines of what are the costs? I have never owned property, and we are long term leasers where we live now, so I am in entering into new territory here. What protections would I need, as obviously my mother would be a long term tenant of the property. I would want to make sure she was taken care of, but at the same time, I have a no good worthless sister that has done nothing but bleed our mother dry (with a felony record of the events nonetheless.) I have a legal service, but I would like to just get some anecdotal advice from folks I tend to trust before I go down that road. Anything?

Need advice on teaching my daughter to shoot.

Have you checked to see which eye is really dominant? Do the thumb. Look at a door knob twenty feet away with both eyes open. Cover the knob with your thumb, close one eye, then the other. Whichever eye 'keeps' the thumb over the door knob is your winner. I am left handed but right eye dominant. Simple, the majority of the world uses the wrong hand, so I just learned to do it. I have shot rifle right handed all my life. I don't have a weak hand with pistols, though I do carry on my right side. My daughter is the opposite. She is a right hander with a dominant left eye. Guess what? Worked for me, works for her, she has been shooting left handed for a little over two years now. This of course creates a bit of an issue with the guns, but as she is seven years old, she has been shooting my old bolt action single shot .22LR since she started. She is on paper at 100yd with open sights. I don't think it slows her down any. -

That made my day, I wish I had seen it this morning, it would have made sitting in my office so much better. And this also reaffirms why I believe that Mr. Haas can be trusted more than his brethren. -
We used them as makeshift baseballs as kids. Fun.

Flashing to a DD-WRT is pretty easy once you find a walkthrough. Took me about an hour to flash one and put it in the back of the house. There was a website that walked me through it literally step by step. I will look for it and see if I can find it. -
I have run skid steer on and off for 20 years, nearly to a fault it has been an IR Bobcat. I prefer a track system, but if you know what you are doing, you won't get stuck with tires.

We just lost a coffee table to a three month old lab...

It is more of a "This is why I chose the parts I did," as opposed to "This is how you build one." I have always been pleased with PSA.

I run these in my 10/22 and it has never had a hiccup. Last night we ran ~300 between my daughter and myself. The 10/22 and the revolvers ate them up with no issues, her single shot rifle had a misfire every other shot. They all shot on the second try though. I am wondering if they just have a harder rim than some others?

Seems like they are going heavily on the drama route this season. I am not sure about the change in Carol, but I understand what drives it.
