Picked it up this morning. Along with another brick of .22LR.
-
This has been going on for years. 'Swatting' is nothing new.

The feller was stocking the shelf, he had several cases of 50 count that he was putting up. I was teasing my daughter and told her that "this here is the most popular man in the store!" He laughed and I jokingly asked if he had any bricks. He laughed, reached into a box that appeared to have only two bricks left and handed me one of them. It was one of the fancy bricks with the little wooden case. It rang up at $29.99. Needless to say I was tickled pink.

Oh, but I did get a brick of .22LR. So I can't really complain.

Last week I was in Cabela's with the wife. I saw a Smith and Wesson 469 on the shelf with a fair price on it. My wife has expressed interest in the S&W 59 series before so I told her last week we should look at it. She made me walk past it. So today we were in Cabela's again for a Youth Archery Workshop and wander over to the gun counter again, and dammit, if it isn't sitting there taunting me. There are a handful on Gunbroker starting for double to triple what this is price at. So, hell I go ahead and buy it. And then I get a Delay on my NICS. The guy was really apologetic and all and told me that he had all of his checks today come back delayed, and he suspected there was an issue in the system. I have been through several dozen NICS checks, so I am not worried. But I will be damned if it doesn't dampen your spirits a little. So I have to make another trip to Cabela's (darnit!) on Thursday to pick it up. I just felt the need to complain about the delay like everyone else.

Bass Pro but it is out at the interstate in Sevierville.

It is funny how things like one's taste in music can change over time.
Murgatroy replied to mav's topic in General Chat
While Mark Mothersbaugh is associated with Yo Gabba Gabba, he was responsible for the music of The Rugrats not Yo Gabba Gabba. He just guests. Christian Jacobs of the Aquabats created Yo Gabba Gabba. It is also worth mentioning that Bowling For Soup is closely tied with Phineas and Ferb on Disney, doing not only the theme, but guest starring in several episodes. -
I DVRed it, but I have yet to watch it. I have heard it was really good. I was almost excited to get my Tuesdays back. Damn you FX.

Who else is getting numerous phone calls about health care?
Murgatroy replied to daddyo's topic in General Chat
I don't answer my phone. Do Not Call List my tuckus. We get ~10 calls a day about something or other. Health Care included. -
Family of three, our daughter is seven. Full trip, groceries and toiletries we budget for $100 a week. $400 a month. We are usually 20% over/under depending. We all three bring lunch to work/school and we eat out four times a month. Being honest it is fair to assume that we spend $550 a month. And my wife coupons.

Last time I went to the Machine Gun Shoot at Knob Creek my wife nagged all day. I offered to leave her at home, but she told me that my wallet would have to stay too...
-
I will eat a mess of all three given the option. I grew up pretty poor, you didn't complain as long as there was food in front of you.

I won't lie, the one we have in Louisville has become one of my favorite shops. I can even find .22LR on the shelf from time to time.

I do believe that Raylan and Boyd will both die in the last episode. On the bridge. The bridge seems to be a popular reoccurring location. And yes, everything I have heard says that the next season is the last, which is why I said that the last 10 minutes of last night's episode set us up pretty well.
-
Overall a mediocre season, but the last ten minutes sure knew how to set up the last season pretty nicely.

Who says you need a sports car or a motorcycle to run the Dragon?
Murgatroy replied to Tobashadow's topic in General Chat
I have been hosting a meet up there for over ten years, one of the first things I tell people is not to let it outdrive you. It is easy to get behind someone and think you have to keep up. That is a quick way off the mountain. -

I don't know if you are being facetious or not, but it means turn your headlights on in the rain. State law in many places. Tennessee included if I remember correctly. -

Murgatroy replied to Tobashadow's topic in General Chat
Not if you know how to handle your chosen machine. But I get what you are saying and I agree. I have been running the Dragon for nearly two decades. I have driven stock family cars, trucks, sports cars and purpose built performance care. It makes my blood boil when I see anyone, cager, biker, trucker, cop, cyclist, etc.. who can't stay in their own lane. I can run it and never touch mayonnaise or mustard. -
While it is normal for a person told something they don't want to hear to take offense, I think we are going straight hardline 'NO!' whenever something that makes us queasy comes along. I agree that I don't like being told that I must accept something, but I don't think it is as much 'accept it or leave' as it is 'accept it because it is real and always has been.' I don't think it is any more prevalent than it has been in past generations, it is just that it is more acceptable now. If acceptable is the proper word. I am a registered Rebublican. However, while I am a fiscal conservative, I am socially liberal. If people want to run through the streets loving one another, that is awesome. I am pretty sure that folks preaching love and acceptance aren't going to stick me up at the ATM or steal my car I worked rather hard to purchase. The folks living on the government dole who have no marketable skill and are indoctrinated in hate from birth, those are the ones that scare me. And they exist on both sides, of all colors. I like my freedom. It means a lot to me. Freedom of speech, the freedom to own guns, the freedom to watch what I want, read what I want, love who I want. Now, how could I claim to love freedom, if I were to go around telling ANYONE else that they can't say what they want, read what they want, love who they want? It is like I have said before, just because someone doesn't believe exactly how you do, doesn't mean they don't love America. That is what is great about America, there are so many different aspects and beliefs here. Guns and God are a part of it, as is freedom. All kinds of freedom. The scary part is the extremists on both sides, the lack of compromise is what will tear us asunder. We want them to love gods and guns, and they want us to love gays and handouts. What both sides need to understand is, no matter how much we/they hate it, it will still exist.
-
Being gay doesn't immediately equate to rape and molestation. It is not my way of life, but I prefer not to stick my nose into another's way of life if it doesn't affect my day to day life. Like was mentioned earlier, I love the hypocrisy that is rampant whenever liberals trying to change things comes up. Guys, we have to face the fact that we can't change the world view of everyone in our world, but what we do need to do is learn to coexist, or the rights that we enjoy will be lost to our children. Going forward with hate and trepidation is not what will keep us free.

I soak my holsters/sheaths in water or coffee (the coffee darkens them, if you want.) I wrap the gun or knife in a plastic bag and spend a couple hours while watching a movie smoothing it all out with either my fingers or a sharpie marker. Gives a really nice custom boned fit. It has never failed for me. I suppose there is a bit of hesitation to drop a $75+ holster into a pot of warm water, but it gets easier after the first time.

Madonna and Cracker Barrel Set To Release a Bluegrass Album
Murgatroy replied to waynesan's topic in General Chat
If Pantera and David Allan Coe can do an album, why can't Madonna try it too? -

I felt kinda let down. They hyped up a huge cliff hanger, and then promoted all week "Who will Survive?!" The only decent scene was the one with Joe's group. Terminus was predictable. All season has been 'food, food, food...' thus discovering a group of cannibals is predictable. It was still better than a lot of the crap on television right now, but it was a let down versus what we have seen in the past, even this season. Nothing has felt as good as the first season. I go back to the tank scene. When Rick fires his 'Excalibur' in the tank and we as viewers heard ringing, and we were disoriented watching the television, that was what I have come to expect. In that aspect, I continue to be let down, in lieu of nuance we get shock and awe. I feel insulted given the switch.
