Obviously he should have just given the family a million dollars, but I suppose living in a half billion dollar castle, that wouldn't be enough either. Some folks amaze me. I don't know about most of you, but I know that I work in a 'Gun Free Workplace.' I suppose that means not only should I quit my job, we should all boycott the products of said company. You are entitled to your own opinion, but grow up a little, please. 90% of businesses out there are 'Gun Free.' Right or wrong, do you wear clothing you made, from wool you harvested from sheep you raised? Because if you take a true hardline approach, I have a feeling you will have a very empty home and a very hungry belly.

I disagree. If you are going to post inane things like beating up your Grandma on the internet, in a thread where you list in explicit detail how you lost your job, you slander all your former coworkers, then you detail how you are going to steal company documents, I think you should full well be expected to explain yourself. But that is just me. I don't have a problem with sharing. I love being detailed if someone asks, but there are certain things that I keep to myself. So my advice is, if you want to keep something in the closet, don't open the door. ;)

My wife and I are suckers for animals. On many occasions we have wasted an entire afternoon, or weekend, trying to get a lost pet home. It is nerve wracking and to be frank, I don't enjoy it. My dog is chipped, collared, tagged, etc... She doesn't go outside without a leash or on a chain. There is nothing worse than finding a dog with zero information, then spending the entire day door knocking, and being yelled at, screamed and and generally treated like a thief when you finally do help poor little Fido get home. I think in the dozen times my wife and I have done this we have been thanked once. This last time we came the closest to giving up and taking the pet to a shelter, but thankfully after two days a young kid claimed the dog. Didn't say a word of gratitude, snatched it up and drug it home. Breaks my heart. If it were me and Bandit, I would pay the fee with tears in my eyes.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I do have friends in Jackson, and they said the same thing about the school system and both families put their children in private school. They said that it is rather affordable, and that the area has a very high per capita of private schools. Is it that bad in West Tennessee?

I could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure the 1911 replaced the Colt New Service, which was a stop gap to replace the Colt Army and Navy in .38LC. Something regarding the dissatisfaction of the stopping power of the .38LC during the war in the Philippines. Which means that there were two service handguns between the SAA and the 1911. And just to be argumentative, the SAA was preceded by many other cavalry (not Calvary, as in Mount Calvary) pistols; including many of Mr. Colt's previous works, such as the much loved 1851 Colt. Or even the Colt Dragoons, which in turn took it's name from the French for a firearm carried by mounted soldiers as early as the 15th Century. But I really do mean this more as tongue in cheek than an actual criticism or antagonism. The OP truly does have a great collection of firearms designed by arguably the greatest firearms designer who ever lived. Unless you carry a Glock. Like I do.

If you don't mind could up update down the road on how well this program works? I know little to no Spanish, but I would like to become at least proficient if not fluent. I have read mixed reviews on Rosetta Stone, but it really does seem to be the most inclusive program. Thanks!

It was to remember the time when they were prisoners, and those that died when they were 'weak.'

I liked Carol channeling Rambo. Carol is easily one of my favorite characters.

It was, it was Morgan. Lennie James is the name of the actor. I liked him in Jericho.

Yeah. Baloney. I can imagine a GM 90* V6 going that far, easy with care. But not without a timing chain, and sure as heck not at 30+ MPG. I understand a little embellishment, but lets at least try to make it believable. The GM 60* V6s didn't even get above 25MPG in real world driving. I don't even think the Iron Duke did unless you were on the interstate, doing 55MPH. The cars that GM put out in the Nineties and Naughties ARE the reason that Toyota is now the world's largest auto maker. Toyota wasn't putting out unappealing heaps that the paint boiled off of three days after your warranty was up. GM and to a lesser extent Ford rested on their laurels during the late eighties and stopped innovating. Ford at least tried new engine designs, but GM continued on spitting out the same engines they had for 30 years. Granted, the SBC is a great engine, but there were four cylinder import engines that made more power, more reliably by the time it was phased out in `03, nearly 50 years after it was first designed. To those that aren't 'into' cars, they will all look alike. They have four wheels and tires, a steering wheel, headlights, taillights... The icons will still be recognizable, Beetles, Mustangs, Corvettes. Anyone can look at a `70 Mustang and tell you it is a Mustang. They might not be able to tell you a year, but they could get close. They don't know that the `70 only had two headlights, where the `69 had four, and the rear fender vents on the `69 Fastback were specific to that model. But they can look at that `70 Mustang and guess is a `66. They don't know that the `66 Mustang had more in common with a Falcon than a `70 Mustang. But they DO know it is a Mustang. But they probably couldn't pick a `66-67 Comet out of a line-up.

Right now with them still being 'in demand' I don't think you will find much less than $400 as the going rate for new. The best 'deal' is to wait for a bundle with a game. I picked up the 'Destiny Edition' of the PS4 which essentially got me the game for $20 off.

Cars are my first passion. My wife has never been comfortable with this. But she accepted it enough to marry me. I can identify make and model within a few years on nearly anything. Often just by headlight/taillight signatures. I have been into cars since before I was in school. When I was in school I would sit and watch the cars drive by the windows. I paid more attention to the cars than the school work. I have owned/built/hotrodded something around 200 cars in my life. Import and domestic, car and truck. My daily driver is late model Mustang, my collector car is a classic Chrysler and my 'hotrod' is Toyota coupe. I currently have six cars. Half of them are Ford.

I drove past it last weekend, there was a line outside waiting for it to open. I chuckled at the thought of them brawling over .22LR. We have one in Louisville, it is larger, but it is always a good trip.

I just ask 'are you a resident, are you legally allowed to own this item?' I then end with 'Have a great day.' However... If someone approached me for a trade/sell and told me upfront they had no ID, I would tell them to pound sand. I wouldn't ask to see it, but if you start volunteering information like that, my spidey senses will start tingling.

We are getting a dog!!! Where to train and which one??
Murgatroy replied to Ladyhay's topic in General Chat
Maybe it is because I have handled all of the training for my dog, or maybe because I grew up training and raising dogs, but the idea of sending my dog off to boarding school to be raised/trained just doesn't sit well with me. Most dog misbehavior can be traced right back to the master. If the master can't control the dog, all the training in the world won't make a difference. My dog has been trained in the home and can perform all of those commands and more. Just from putting the effort in. Dog naturally like to please the pack leader. It is their nature. From the age of a pup the dog has to be imprinted with his family and know his role among the pack. Shipping a dog off doesn't really reinforce that. That is just my opinion, and I could be mistaken. But a dog is a family member. I wouldn't ship my daughter off for a few years to be raised either. A training facility or camp that works with both the dog and the master/owner/family would be ideal, as it trains everyone on what is expected. Not just the dog. I am also of the idea that I don't want my dog taking commands from strangers. I had some smart assed kid working at Petsmart the other day try to tell my dog to 'sit' so he could give her a treat. He got rather upset when I told him to buzz off and not give my dog commands. I don't care. I am her alpha. -

We have a female Lab mix. She is sharp as a tack, and frankly I have run out of tricks to teach her. She has never received formal training. She learned all of her commands by voice and hand signal, and she will perform all by either independently. She is not vicious, but she will bark and let you know what is up. Bandit is an indoor dog, and she will lay on the couch or bed and cuddle up and sleep with my and the daughter. She and the wife get along, but she is not as close as she is with the rest of the family. Any dog can be a good dog, but look for qualities that match your family. A highly independent dog might not be best for a first time family, working dogs will often be bored, or attempt to establish dominance outside of what the humans desire. Also make sure your family's activities match the dog. If you sit and watch a lot of television, a dog that requires a lot of running and playing might wind up being very frustrating. I couldn't imagine life without her. But I am sure my cat could. -
I have a Lab Mix, all the training in the world wouldn't do her any good, she would revert to licking someone to death. She will bark like mad though.

I like the minimalist look, but I don't like the price. I paid 30% less for a fully adjustable Bladetech Phantom.

I take folks to the range with the purpose of letting them shoot several different guns, so I don't consider myself the 'You gotta shoot this guy.' The one time I did encounter him it was a MSAR STG-556, and well, since the Steyr Aug, and by association the MSAR are on my bucket list, I was enamored when he offered to let me shoot it. It made my range trip. So he didn't bother me at all. The other guys, I don't care for.

Sounds like a busy day, I am glad the two of you are safe.
