  1. My wife wanted a little dog, our daughter just wanted a dog. Neither had ever been around a dog so something as a puppy was mandatory. I wanted a dog with a substantial bark, and decent size. A lab fit all of my requirements and I knew my daughter would adapt. When I saw the thread on here about the litter of pups needing homes, we drove down that weekend and picked Bandit out. She fit in the palm of your hand. For a day or two... The wife and the daughter wouldn't know what to do without Bandit at this point. They both took to her like fish to water. However, a large indoor dog is a job. I suppose one of those little yappy things doesn't make as much of a mess. Here she is at about a month old which was just the right size that no one in the house could say 'no:'

  3. France has done a lot for our nation, like was mentioned, they pretty much funded our Revolution. And if I am not mistaken, they have some pretty badass soldiers, and have for a while. They handled this pretty well, and fast. Kudos to them. We here in America would still be worried about the protests and going door to door politely asking if anyone had seen them.      Plus I have to admit Luc Besson really understands action films and is far and away my favorite modern producer/director/writer. I don't think France is that bad.
  4. You can't go to the Volvo dealer and ask? They might get whiny if you don't buy anything, but they will usually look up part numbers for free.   You are aware that often the 'options' are multiple based on the options, the car is turbo, or not, has a sport package, or not, then after you narrow down the part you need, you have the different brands/levels of part? The same Part, Part X, but Silver, Gold, Platinum which equates to price, quality and warranty, even though it is the same part it is a different number. It is no different than nearly any part on your car. It is the same part, you just have five different makers, and prices.   A 1990 Toyota Celica will have two different part numbers for the front pads, based on options. The 5SFE and 3SGTE will have one number, the 4AFE will have another. After I decide on part A or B (my car take A) I have to decide if I want Duralast, Hawk, Wearever, etc, then do I want Duralast Silver, Duralast Gold, or Duralast Platinum with the lifetime warranty for $20 more...   But that doesn't mean that ADP is the only part number that fits my car, AHS would fit too, but the price would be different.                         Unless I missed the whole point of your question.
  5. The concept is that new method:   I lock back, hit bolt release, round chambered, drop mag, load fresh mag, GTG, always have a round.   But  I don't see it changing anything. You still have to hit the bolt release, you didn't save any motions.   And you have one round.   And when you shoot that one 'savior round' without a magazine seated, now you have no rounds, and a bolt that isn't locked back. Thus costing you even more movements.   I read about it in AR a few weeks back and thought it was stupid then, I haven't changed my opinion since. This is a problem to a solution that already exists.
  6. This is Bandit, she is about 16 months old? Mostly Lab. Sharp as a tack, and fully devoted to the family. Well trained, mostly well behaved and she loves to cuddle. She also loves to play. We got her from here on the board when she was just over a month old. I hope the rest of her litter mates did well, but Bandit knows she won the lottery. I have a cat too, Moeko, but she won't sit peacefully and pose for a picture in exchange for a tortilla chip. She has been with us for ten years now. She is a good cat.
  7. I have a couple Magnum Research branded guns, I assume that when I finally do buy myself a 1911, it will be one of these.   My Baby Eagle and Micro Eagle have been top notch.
  8. Bandit won't go in the kitchen when the dishwasher is open anymore. She was helping the wife do the dishes one night. While the wife's back was turned Bandit started licking a plate, when the wife turned around, Bandit went to move away, so as not to get in trouble, but her collar caught the edge of the trolley. She wound up pulling it all the way out of the dishwasher and halfway through the living room. I thought the house was caving in. Ever since that day, Bandit WILL NOT go near the dishwasher if it is open. I think we only lost one plate, maybe two.
  9. No, that is the synthetic version, it doesn't come with any of the harmful side-effects.
  10. I used to work with a gentleman who was a Snake Handling Pentecostal Preacher. His father-in-law died of a snake bite.
  11. They have some rather interesting videos. I like them.
  12. The hipsters are all about them some vinyl.
  13. Congratulations, with 12 out of 15 possible points, you've done significantly better than the average. This test really was difficult and you managed to get the vast majority right, well done! We doubt your friends could do any better – why not test them and find out?
  14. FFL.   You will want to contact the seller and recieving FFL before/during the checkout process to make sure that they will do business each other and have the necessary information. After that the seller ships, the FFL receives and notifies you and it goes down like any other sale after that point.   Last time I ordered online I handled it all through email.
  15. Feeding issues could mean a whole lot of things...
  16. That is a limited time offer for early adopters who sign up for the course and prepay.
  17. I don't spend the money for express shipping anymore. Our mail carrier won't knock on the door, so anything that is too big to go in our box gets a note stuck to my door that I can just pick it up the next day at the office.   We have filed three complaints this year alone, I am always home when the mail runs. The carrier doesn't knock. She claims she does, the PO won't do anything about it regardless of the complaints I have filed.   It just means I get to add a couple more days to any shipping.           And UPS Sure Post is how most of the packages wind up there, I do most of my shopping through Amazon. It infuriates me, as the UPS driver actually knocks.
  18. I can be the camera operator that stands downrange for Fat Man Tactical, or I can just stand off screen and yell 'CONTACT!' every couple of minutes.
  19. That was good.
  20. I personally think that a Tanto/Western Tanto are the most versatile blade types. I have carried these nearly exclusively for 15+ years. While I do have a SAK Tinker and a stockman in my extended EDC, I find that a partially serrated tanto is a true jack of all trades knife. I have carried a Benchmade Type 44 since the late 90s or thereabouts and I now carry a Kershaw Blur. ETA:
  21. Even if it is not threaded for a choke, the barrel is set up as a choke. That is what the ring is.
  22. The article clearly said that they didn't have any tranqs, it then went on to say that they were afraid that had they waited for someone to bring them, the cat would have escaped. They made the decision to put it down.   Did you even read the article?
  23. .   Wrong thread.
  24. $30 is a hell of a price for a haircut.   I mean it sounds nice and all, but when all I need is five minutes with a pair a clippers, I am fine once a year paying some grumpy woman who hates her job $10 and then tipping her $5 to get my annual haircut.
  25. My post was for the two guys telling you that it was illegal to go forward with this.   I wouldn't pay those prices, nor the price for the 14" factory barrel.    What you will find though is that you can't cut to 14" as the mag tube is longer than that. That is why most of the guides discuss buying $400 worth of parts. I think 16" is as short as you can get with just a good old fashioned hacksaw and no new parts. But don't quote me on that.   As far as a smith, you might be hard pressed to find one that isn't skittish, as this isn't a known variable. While it is legal, it is full of a lot of misinformation. Which means a chop saw, some files and a refinish might be the easier path than paying someone.
